Not that long ago, I decided that I was going to get into shape. I also wanted to do something slightly more constructive than just spinning or circuit training. I am so thankful that I found Andrew because not only am I getting one of the best workouts ever, but I am getting stronger every time I take his class. The small class sizes as Punch means you're getting one-on-one attention withAndrew for at least part of the class. But don't let that fool you. The time in the ring with Andrew, he is going to make you work. No excuses, more combos. Once you're out of the ring, you're set on a course of several circuit training exercises focused on building arm and length strength as well as as cardio and ab drills. It's the most worthwhile hour of my week. On top of it all, Andrew is a nice guy who is encouraging and pushes us to limits he knows we can reach. I can not speak highly enough for this class. I am SO GLAD I found Andrew and Punch!!! There are plenty of solid cardio-boxing options in L.A. I max out my ClassPass cycle at Prevail, IRON, and Studio U every month. If that's the kind of workout you're looking for, Andrew will give you one of the best versions of it you'll find. A typical class is 3 rounds of: (A) 3 minutes mitt work in the ring; (B) 3 minutes of a lower body circuit; and (C) 3 minutes of an upper body circuit. Then you close with: (D) a cardio session or footwork game, and (E) core work. It's an awesome freaking workout, and I am DRENCHED and can barely keep my gloves up by the end. If that were all Andrew and Punch offered, I'd be a happy camper. But if you're willing to push yourself, he will have so much fun with you in the ring that before you know it, you're learning how to box. My footwork has improved EXPONENTIALLY after just a few classes. My reaction speed has increased, I'm learning defense, and I can handle longer combinations, even if my lead uppercut continues to bring shame upon myself and my family. In short, Andrew is patient with his clients, and makes sure to meet them where they are. There have been first timers and cagey vets at every class I've taken, and each has a great time and a solid workout. Classes are capped at 8, so there's always plenty of personal attention. Parking is FREE. Wraps and gloves are FREE if you need them. And the other clients, in my experience, have been super friendly, so the environment is consistently awesome. I never pay drop-in rates anymore (thanks ClassPass price increase!), but I'm addicted to Punch and Andrew is definitely worth it. There's no way 3x a month is enough. read more

As a Classpass subscriber who has been to just about every boxing class available from Venice to West Hollywood, the classes at Punch Brentwood are at the top of my list. Not only do you get a great circuit workout, the small class sizes allow the instructor (Andrew) to really put a focus on teaching form as well as fitness. I find a lot of other studios start to lack in one or the other, but Punch makes proper form, skill and a good sweat all a priority. Andrew remembers each of his students and pushes them to improve individually week to week - and the improvements are visible! I have seen my body transform from these workouts as well as transformations in the bodies of other people who have been coming to classes with me over the past few months. Be prepared to tone your whole body and have some seriously fit looking shoulders and arms! The teacher is passionate about boxing and you can tell he takes a lot of pride in his classes. He is always prepared with a different workout for each class and knows exactly what the plan is - no wasted time during these workouts! There is also always a proper warm-up and cool down to make sure your body is prepared and rehabbing from all the moves. The studio is clean and boutique in Brentwood and there is usually parking available close by (especially about a block away by the school if you are coming to an evening class). The boxing ring is outdoors, which is a really refreshing way to start the day! There is also a tent to cover everything if there is a chance of rain. Give it a try, you won't regret it! read more

I love Andrew's classes so much. He limits his class to 6 people max so that each person gets individual attention, especially when boxing in the ring. I've taken both a private and group classes with Andrew, and the workout is great. He teaches you not only how to box but also how to improve your technique. He also is really good at remembering the skill level of each individual, and caters the one-on-one boxing sessions to your level. He also further challenges you and adds more skills as you keep training with him. Sessions vary based on the number of people there but you definitely get a great workout from both strength training and boxing. I've been going to Punch Brentwood since the very beginning and while a lot has changed, one thing has stayed consistent: this is without a doubt the best workout in LA. The classes are small (max. 6 people), meaning that Andrew is very attentive to each boxer, correcting form, precision, and ultimately perfecting your boxing skills. I've gone 3 days a week for the past 5 months and am still loving every minute. There is never a dull moment to these intense interval circuit trainings. Andrew really pays attention to your weaknesses and works you through them to make sure you improve. Besides him, the gym is outside which makes it more enjoyable than the hot gyms that other classes are in. I've gone to about 6 boxing gyms in LA and his is the best overall. read more
