Despite this, the name change was not included in the final divorce decree. This omission was never communicated to me. I only discovered the issue later when attempting to complete the name change. Nearly two years later, I am now being told it will cost an additional $400 to correct something that should have been handled during the original proceedings. I am extremely disappointed in the lack of attention to detail and accountability, especially given the amount paid for representation. I would not recommend this attorney to anyone expecting thorough follow-through on agreed-upon matters.

Upon meeting with Lester, he told me that he has great reviews and won an award from his peers. So, I decideed to hire Lester to represent me in a family matter. Boy this was a HUGE mistake. After paying the retainer, Lester began to tell me that he needed more money to handle things like discoveries ($5,000), appear for mediation ($1,200) appear for final hearing ($1,200) and other misc fees. When I questioned Lester about these new costs, I was told "my retainer pays for his experience." Well if that was the case, I got ripped off. Lester is very ineffecient and ineffective but has no problem spending the retainer "smoozing" the other attorney. Things that Lester told me that I want to share with you: - Read my reviews and you will understand my experience - I think the reviews are planted to get you to feel like you could trust him and that he has your best interest in mind. He will also tell you a line of BS when you meet with him. Don't buy it. - I know the Judges and they listen to me - Would not know. The only filing prepared by Lester on my behalf was: as attorney of record and motion to withdrawl after I fired him. - The other attorneys respect me - Yes they respect you becasue you cave and give them everything they want. That is why you were nominated and recieved the award from your peers. - I work for you - Lester never had my best interest in mind. When I asked him to file a Comtempt Motion for me, he said "You will need to find another Attorney to do that" - I keep accurate notes, documents and time records - No, I had to ask for an invoice and had to wait 5 days to get it. Then when I got it, I only had $75.00 of my $5,000 retainer left. Lester worked less than one month on my case. Sent me several communications (I got charged for them), conducted severl daily phone calls with the other attorney (sometimes 6 a day but could not produce notes), charged me for the "Free" consultation. Save your money, stay away from Lester Van Slyke.
