    New Years pretzels

Kretchmar's has been a Beaver County staple for more than 60 years. It's a great family owned business. There supposedly is some connection between Kretchmar's and Prantl's and the creation of the burnt almond torte. They both are very similar and both very tasty. I've been visiting Kretchmar's a couple of times a year for over 15 years. It's not close enough to visit more often. I can say that I've never been disappointed with anything I have ever ordered here. My son and wife live their Petit Fours. They have great breads, cakes, torts and cookies. My trip today was to get New Years pretzels. I picked two sweat dough, cream cheese pretzels up to take to family lunch the next day. While there I picked up a great apricot and apple cookie, some Petit Fours for the family, as well as a sugar cookie and pastry for my daughter. All were very solid and tasty. I was pleasantly surprised by the price when I checked out. Much less expensive than many of the big Pittsburgh bakeries, but with all the same quality, if not more.

I stopped into Kretchmar's on a Saturday afternoon around 4:30 PM. For that late in the day, I was surprised (in a good way) that they had such a vast selection of items. I picked a few different items to try. Everything I tasted was fresh and not overly sweet! The cookie decorations are also so fun and cute. They have seasonal cookies/baked goods in addition to everyday items like bread, muffins, and cake slices. The service was also great. I'm glad I don't live closer or else I'd be there too much. lol

This little bakery packs a BIG punch! Their front door is constantly opening and closing, as people flood in for delicious treats. There isn't much space inside, no seating, and the parking is street parking. There's enough room for maybe 6-8 people to stand comfortably. The staff is quick, so you better have a plan! There are so many options that it's near impossible to make a bad choice. I went in with a full belly, unfortunately, and only left with two peanut butter cups and an apple turnover. Both were amazing and VERY fairly priced for the quality. I'll be certain to make a return trip to try more!

It was our first visit here and there were arrays of pastries to choose from. Favorites were Bavarian cream, raspberry danish, cherry turnover, and sugar donut!! It's hard not to keep walking around looking , recommendation to go early so they don't run out of items. Our order was boxed up within 4 minutes and the area was super clean

Tried the chocolate napoleon. Very good, flaky but just way too chocolaty sweet. And mind you, I love me some good chocolate.

A great local bakery with tons of wonderful items. Some of our favorites are the burnt raspberry almond torte, cookies, and the yogurt blueberry muffins.

My first 2023 visit, but always nice to go back to a REAL old school bakery. They are far & few between these days. You'll find tons of cookies, cupcakes, turnovers, danishes, cakes here. Great holiday selection. It's very small inside, fitting maybe 6-8 patrons at a time so the line can be out the door when busy. I stopped on Valentine's Day & got some beautifully decorated sugar cookies, chocolate covered Rice Crispy treats & an apple & cherry turnover. All fresh & delish. Free parking on street.

    So much good stuff

Local history you can taste... Kretchmar's bakery has been an institution in Beaver for many years and you can taste it in the things they bake. All their items from donuts to pastries to cookies are baked fresh everyday with the utmost care for traditions. Prices are reasonable for the artisan quality you get and the service is friendly and prompt, Aloha

I am a bakery snob. I love baked goods, I love exploring new bakeries. When I have to travel to another city, another town, another state, the 1st thing on my agenda is scoping out local bakeries. When it's my birthday? I want to seek out a new bakery to visit and sample. I take baked goods very seriously and even the best bakeries I've been to, I've had some "complaints" in the sense of not liking the ratios, being disappointed in overwhelming or underwhelming flavors, a lack of freshness... I'm a hard one to completely impress. When we try a bakery for the 1st time, I start at 1 case and work my way through each and every case trying a bit of everything. We were in Beaver to take the dog to a new vet and I had read about Krechmar's so we had to stop. I arrived and the bakery itself was bright, warm and inviting. The young ladies working were friendly, kind, helpful and patient. The baked goods were colorful and beautiful. In normal new bakery fashion, we walked away with 3 boxes of pastries and a variety of everything including an almond torte. I don't say this lightly, I've NEVER been to a better bakery. Every single thing we sampled? Is the best we've ever had. Everything was fresh. The flavors were perfectly balanced, the rations perfection... Being from Pittsburgh, we have some noteworthy almond tortes in the area, NONE of them can touch Krechner's. I got just the regular one, but we got enough raspberry filled things (danishes, cookies etc) to know that their raspberry almond torte would have been incredible too. Their raspberry filling was the best raspberry filling we've ever had. Often times bakeries used flavoring extract, which to my tastebuds just taste like pure chemicals. This was like a homemade fresh raspberry preserves and was incredible. The cream puff had the most delectable cream inside (which I normally end up squeezing out at other places because it's gross lol). The cookies were fresh, soft and perfectly cooked. The danish? Literally the best I've ever had. If you're sensing a theme it's because there is 1. There isn't a single complaint, there isn't a single "it's good, but it would be better if they ______." It's just hands down, the very best bakery and the very best version of each and every single item that we bought that I've ever had in my entire life and I will return each and every time I have the opportunity to do so.

We bought a birthday cake from them and the icing taste like lard, no flavor, the worst buttercream icing I've ever tasted.

I bought a load of sour dough and a loaf of cinnamon raisin bread. Both loom great. I then wanted a breakfast sandwich and asked what he would get if he was picking for himself. He said the homemade sour dough English muffin with egg, sausage and cheese is a good choice so I listened. It don't take long for him to fix it. They have no seating inside but have a table or two outside. I actually ate my sandwich right away. It was delicious. I'm glad to support local businesses and this is a good one to support.

They have many types of sourdough bread and their sourdough English muffins are awesome. They also make some pastries and have cookies and usually a few cakes. Since it is Thanksgiving this time they had a couple nice looking pumpkin pie pies. They were quite busy because of custom orders for the Thanksgiving holiday. But there was no line and I was in and out quickly. You can park right outside in the small lot. Their sign is a little bit hard to see from the road, but they are in the plaza with a pizza place and the liquor store near the shop and save supermarket on third Avenue. I highly recommend that if you need sourdough bread that you check this place out.

I found this place on Yelp and was impressed by the reviews. We walked in on a Saturday morning and it was full, good sign. I think we only waited a few minutes before we were seated. I was shocked how affordable, at least half the price of the places in Cranberry and Wexford. I ordered bacon, egg and cheese sandwich on a bagel and it came with home fries. It was a decent meal and under $8! My wife had eggs, potatoes, sausage and toast and it was cheap too. Our server was friendly and the food was good. The place seemed to do a steady business which was nice to see. We walked out having breakfast and drinks for just $20, what a bargain. The best part we were supporting a locally owned family restaurant. We will definitely return next time we are over that way.
