Having sold gold jewelry in the past and knowing the current market price, I knew approximately what amount I wanted to receive from a gold buyer. After going to 2 other very well-reviewed gold buyers in the Raleigh area and being extremely unhappy with their offers (as well as feeling manipulated/scammed in the process), I came to Golden Isles. I was helped quickly and the owner was really nice & friendly. AND they gave me ***nearly $3,000*** more for my gold than the other two businesses offered. Many seemingly reputable/high-end businesses will pretend to be your friend or offer frills when you visit, but will rip you off. No, Golden Isles didn't offer me champagne at the door (like one other business I visited did) - but they were the only honest company I encountered. FYI: Before visiting a gold buying business - ask what cut they will take! If it's 30-40% for 14k gold, you are visiting the wrong place. You can get a much better rate at Golden Isles! I will NEVER go anywhere else in the area to sell gold/silver.

The owner greeted us with a smile and listened to our saga. He went thru each item with us and educated us. He confirmed what we thought, our relative had spent hard earned money for junk. You know those late night commercials which offer too good to be true deals. All I know is we were able to hand off all items in one place and be done with it. We feel our $ take away was fair for the additional work we did not have to do.

I am a person who believes customer service makes or breaks a business, regardless of the product…read more Not only has Reeds consistently been my chosen place for any jewelry purchase because their care plans are unheard of and they are a family-type business that feels local, BUT the customer service is spectacular. As a woman of color and part of the LGBT member-my wife and I are weary of shopping due to discrimination. I found that my Sales Professional, Salvatore Roccaforte, was BEYOND kind, understanding, and patient with my questions. I am in the market for designing a ring for my wife to receive at our vow renewal in a couple of years and he took the time to greet me and make efforts to make sure the process REEDS has for custom rings was understood. He helped me find the setting, size, clarity, and etc. that I wanted. Salvatore is an upstanding professional who heard that I was saving for this ring and knew it was for another woman, STILL HE DIDNT SKIP A BEAT in offering assistance and providing options for savings. I will be returning and he will be my preferred jeweler from here on out. We had a lovely chat and I think if there were more of him in these stores--they'd have 5 stars across the board and lines wrapping around the mall to get in. What a great dude. My day was made in meeting him and finding someone that could make something as scary as a big purchase seem altogether doable. God bless this company!

Very disappointing experience with Reed's Jewelers…read more I purchased an engagement ring from Reed's Jewelers in April. By June, the ring had begun changing color. When I returned to the store, the manager, Marie, told me that because it was 18K white gold, it was prone to discoloration and would require repeated rhodium dipping at an additional cost. This was never disclosed to me when I purchased the ring. Had I known, I would have chosen yellow gold. Initially, Marie refused to assist me or acknowledge the issue. It was only after I escalated the matter to Reed's corporate that she agreed to address it and offered an exchange. I specifically requested a 14K yellow-gold ring. Marie showed me two rings that she represented as being 14K. After leaving the store, I noticed the receipt did not identify the ring as 14K. When I contacted her, she admitted that the ring was actually 10K. I declined the exchange because that was not what I requested. After another attempted exchange involving pearls and a watch, which my fiancée was not satisfied with, I returned the merchandise to another Reed's location, and the full amount was credited back to my Synchrony account. Marie subsequently contacted me and attempted to persuade me to authorize a reversal of the credit, stating that the only way to resolve the matter was through the store and that I could receive merchandise for the amount paid. Her manner during the call was condescending and unprofessional, and I ultimately had to ask her to stop calling me. The issue is not simply that the original ring changed color. It is the lack of disclosure, inaccurate representation of the replacement merchandise, refusal to initially assist, and the unprofessional manner in which the situation was handled. For an engagement ring purchase, I expected transparency, professionalism, and customer service. Unfortunately, my experience with Reed's Jewelers fell far short of those expectations.

I was attempting to get a $40 loan on $130 worth of silver I purchased in 2024. At least $200-$250 in scrap value today. Well they offered me $15. I said "no loan offer?", and they said no. Basically the only transaction they were open to, was a disrespectful low ball. They were hoping to take advantage of someone desperate, so I just left in disgust. How can you offer such a low offer and refuse to do any amount as a loan? Shame on them! They were looking to rip someone off and only that. If I was a kid, I would've gotten beat down if I had sold them $250 worth of silver (that I bought from them 2 years ago when silver was $30-ounce) for $15. STAY AWAY FROM THIS LOCATION

My family is frustrated and very angry with how difficult they are making it for us to pay for and retrieve my dad's items - he recently passed. We are being told something different every time. The last thing we were told was if we could not locate the original receipt, we need to present the death certificate to pick up the items. Today we met w the manager and he told us the death certificate is useless to us & we have to provide them w Power of Attorney to pick up the items. After leaving empty handed AGAIN we did some research because things were just not feeling right. We discovered it is illegal for a pawn shop to require a POA bc a POA is immediately invalid at the time of death and it is possibly an indication that the shop is trying to use fraudulent "requirements" in order for the contract to default allowing the shop to take full possession of the items. It was explained that the pawn shop is to allow to the executor or administrator of the deceased (my mom-surviving spouse) or a person otherwise appointed in probate to provide the death certificate and act on the deceased's behalf. The manager also refused to provide us with the original contract to review. We will continue to pursue the matter with hope in successfully retrieving my dad's items. It's disgusting and inexcusable how they are trying to benefit from the death of a customer.
