When we moved to Chapel Hill we looked hard for a reputable jeweler (wife) and watch dealer (me). After a lot of disappointment we stumbled upon the team at JM Edwards and were immediately impressed. Genuinely nice people who invest time in their clients to understand their needs and always go above and beyond in service. They aren't part of a mall, so the store itself stands out and makes you feel like you are entering a home and within they have an impressive selection of jewelry and (my favorite) are an authorized Rolex dealer. I think what makes them special is their ability to custom make pieces. To date we have bought 5 customized pieces of jewelry from them (at very reasonable prices) and each time we kinda had an idea of what we wanted and each time they patiently walked us through options, gave us honest opinions as to what works and doesn't, and guided us to a final design that left us feeling like we had walked away with something truly special. My wife and daughter LOVE their rings and necklaces - and I know there will be more in the future. 10/10 We ABSOLUTELY recommend J. M. Edwards. We contacted Christian about setting a loose diamond for my engagement ring. At first, seeing J. M. Edwards was intimidating but everyone there immediately put us at ease. I went over exactly what I wanted with Christian; he respected our budget and made us feel heard and comfortable (especially comfortable expressing how we actually felt and being able to say no if/when we needed to). After we decided to have J.M. Edwards create my ring, they got the first CAD to me right when they said they would (about 2 weeks later). After a few weeks of back and forth over email and one more in-person trip, I received the design that we went with (bless the CADesigner, they did about four or so drafts - trust the process and the professionals). Today I came in to get my Rolex looked at , after waiting 30 mins for them to retrieve the serial number, a second employee stepped in due to them closing. They were rushing and didn't retrieve the serial number as requested after confirming watches authenticity. They gave me back my watch with the band falling off and now I can't get it back on now. The spring that holds the band to the head is no longer attached. I paid $10,000 usd for this watch I would of expect it to be handled with more care. Never returning again. read more

I'm so grateful to have gotten to work with the team at JM Edwards. I had a 100+ year old ring in my family that I wanted to use the diamonds for, to turn into a custom engagement ring. Almost 10 years ago I brought in a ring my grandfather gave my grandmother for her sweet sixteen, that had been passed down to me after my grandmother died of cancer in 1995. We shared the same birth stone.At the time I did not have the finances for much of anything. This ring was very important to me. Not just the sentimental value, but it was unique- an emerald cut sapphire set in a picture frame looking post. I loved that ring. I got comments all the time. I have never seen anything else like it. When the sapphire started to move in the setting, I brought it in to be repaired to make sure the stone didn't fall out. I was impressed that the repair would be done "in house" and everything seemed so prestigious. The quote to repair the ring was almost $200. A big deal for me. I felt like I was leaving my prized possession in good hands, they have a guard at the front door! It was the last time I ever saw my ring. for weeks I called, I got the run around, it wasn't ready, they'd call me back... nothing. I finally went up there and was told the ring was lost. NO, the ring was stolen. It's been 10 years, they fix/ repair jewelry in the same building. You would think a "lost" ring would've appeared by now, since it never left the building.... RIGHT?? I barely got an apology. They told me the ring was synthetic anyhow and gave me a "replacement" ring that was equivalent of something you could get from any generic jewelry store for under $50- for a ring they were going to charge me almost 4x as much to fix. I used to call/ email every year around my birthday just to let them know how heart broken and disappointed I was. My grandfather passed away last year and my family was together this past week and someone asked me if I still had "THE" ring. I almost started to cry. I'm not a big jewelry person, I don't custom make anything or consider myself flashy. I guess if you are starting from scratch, this may be the place for you. We had quickly bonded with her the previous year, when she had helped us design our ideal engagement ring. We remembered that she had been remarkably knowledgeable, friendly, and understanding. We set to work designing our bands. My wife's band was to be a twisted platinum ring that would fit snuggly alongside her sapphire engagement ring, while mine was to feature two pine trees etched into the side, a reminder of our wedding venue and our love of spending time in the mountains. A few short weeks later, they were done and we couldn't have been happier with how they turned out! As I've been typing this review, I've glanced down at the ring on my finger a few times.
