This spot is VERY Chinese. Lots of banter in the language but I liked the energy it gave. A little bit of a language barrier but I tried to keep it short and brief, and we "communicated" through photos of what I wanted, and what he could do. Almost all the chairs were full. I brought my son with me and everyone was nice to him (-: He was able to sit on a chair and wait for me while I had my hair done. Ming gave me exactly what I wanted. Basically a refresh. They were able to shampoo and rinse my hair, I was put in the chair, Ming and I had an exchange, and he went to work with precision and expertise. QUICKLY may I add.. I found my local salon. I have had layered haircuts at other salons before, so I know what a layered haircut should look like. I kept explaining what I wanted, but the stylist kept telling me that he was giving me layers when the result clearly did not look like the layered style I showed him. It felt more like a bang trim with my hair cut shorter. I was also very uncomfortable because the stylist had a very strong cigarette/smoke smell on his breath during the service, which made the experience unpleasant. If the stylist couldn't achieve the style I requested, I would have preferred him to be honest and explain that before cutting my hair shorter. As a first-time customer, I left feeling very upset and disappointed.

While small, this still left a great impression Stylist Lulu was absolutely amazing and wonderful. I had ALOT of trauma with my hair. I naturally have dark brown hair, and I came in with an inspiration picture asking for an autumn copper-brown reddish color. They were very confident that they could make the color I wanted happen, which made me feel comfortable moving forward with the service. After the first round, she was already getting ready to send me home, but I told her I was not happy with the results because my hair barely looked different from when I came in. It stayed mostly the same dark brown, except for some patchy plum-colored areas. I paid $120 for that first service. After I explained that I was unhappy, she recommended bleaching my hair to get me closer to the lighter copper-brown reddish color I originally asked for. What bothered me was that before starting the bleach, she never told me she would also be doing another client's hair color at the same time. While the bleach was sitting in my hair, there was one point where she was away for about 40 minutes. I was so nervous about the bleach sitting in my hair that I actually started a timer myself because I did not want anything to happen to my hair. She was also leaving at other times in between for around 20 to 30 minutes while working on the other client. I really wish my hair had been monitored more closely throughout the bleaching process, especially because of how light it ended up becoming. Instead of the autumn copper-brown reddish color from my inspiration picture, I ended up with orange and blonde hair. I paid another $230 for the second service, bringing my total to $350. I am extremely disappointed that I spent $350, went through two rounds of color and bleaching on previously virgin hair, and still did not receive anything close to what I originally asked for. If you have naturally dark virgin hair and are looking to go lighter, based on my experience, I would definitely not recommend this place.

"It's shorter than the photos and I don't feel very good about it." She decided to stop and told me she wasn't comfortable cutting my hair anymore, since "you're clearly uncomfortable," and "the trust has been broken," Which I mean, I was... She suddenly offered to refer me out and said she'd reach out in a couple of days, and didn't charge me, but not paying hadn't even occurred to me... she rushed me out so she could do her "cleansing ritual" for the "negative energy" or something since she had 7 more clients after me... which she kept saying over and over. I asked if we could dry it or add some product or do the finishing touches and she said no... so I just awkwardly left with very wet hair. I just moved here and was really looking forward to developing a long term relationship with a stylist. I think gender affirming hair can take some trial and error and working with a stylist over time can help find "the" haircut. Feedback after each cut, taking in the knowledge from the stylist/learning from them, coming back every few months, etc. it's a journey. I was nervous and dissatisfied, but breathing and calm since I know this. The cut itself is fine, it's not exactly what I asked for but I mean... her skills at cutting hair are evident. My first haircut with her was a 10/10... To me it was more the reaction and shock and being rushed out and now I have a much shorter haircut (that I didn't ask for) that could use some touch ups, and that I don't know how to style, since normally I air dry my hair with some basic product which we talked about. The plan was that I would still be able to put it up and now I have basically a pixie... it's been a very upsetting and confusing experience... and it's hair and it'll grow out and I think it'll look more like my reference photos in a few months and with some small adjustments... I just wish she had responded differently and we could have continued working together.
