This place has amazing customer service. You're always greeted when you arrive. I typically just go for waxing and facials. I've been going to TRACY for years now. I'm so excited she's adding a newer service, which are facials She's accommodating, super customer oriented, she makes you feel so comfortable with her environment and your body. tldr: Stylist Marcela, $46 with groupon, not including tip. Soothing scalp and deep conditioning treatment, Wonderful Dolly layers and styling. Healthier Shinier hair. Bad bangs. Marcela did a wonderful job on my hair by adding long layers, giving me a trim, and a scalp treatment with deep conditioning. I had the groupon so I paid $46 and tipped which I think was a fantastic deal. The best part of this haircut was definitely the scalp treatment. As a very anxious person when it comes to my beauty treatments, I really like when I am told what is happening to me. Marcela talked it all out ! She explained the shampoo, the hair mask, why I was smelling peppermint - I really appreciated this extra communication. My only upset was at the end with my bangs. There was a point when my bangs looked perfect ! but then Marcela kept cutting upwards to create a wispy effect. I should have told her initially not to do this because I know that this wispy style looks terrible on me. Everytime I try to get my bangs cut professionally, it never turns out well. I wanted to get a haircut to fix my bangs but unfortunately this did not happen. I wanted a smooth curved side bangs, not a wispy one with jagged/ ridged edges which I received. However, for this price I think the whole treatment went well and I definitely think Marcela is a very kind lady who knows how to cut layers and style hair. I actually love the length of my hair and the styling effect. I love how my hair (besides my bangs) look super dolly. My hair is shiny and feels healthier and lighter. Marcela took her time and she was very sweet throughout the treatment. I would recommend her but make sure you tell her when to stop if things look good already. read more

I've been to three stylists and one aesthetician, and the experience was the same for each: it began with a friendly welcome, then devolved into a robotic, disinterested approach. On my final visit to her, Peggy stood at her station and called out, "Hey, I'm ready," while I was seated in the reception area about 12 feet away. No use of my name, no courteous stepping into the sitting area to speak to me. Of them all, the best stylist, meaning the one who listened closely and cut my hair as I requested, was the owner, Rosa. This behavior may be because I'm only there for a haircut, not one of the more income-earning color application services. But I tip well, 20%. In any case, not my go-to salon anymore. The aesthetician is the same in the treatment of clients. Friendly at first, but then robot-like for succeeding visits. In fact, the so-called facial she gave was incomplete. Just as an example: there is a steam machine that is used to soften the skin to make the removal of clogged pores possible. She only used it on one half of my face, and by the time I realized she hadn't placed the equipment on the other side, she had already begun the pore extractions. Plus, she does not provide a soothing atmosphere. She's always rushed, in and out, and for what she charges, she should be more welcoming and attentive to her clients. As I said, I'm no longer a client. Check out where I go in San José. Although it's a trek from San Leandro, I'm greeted with happiness and welcomed to the salon not just by my stylist but also by the others who work there and even the clients. read more

I just moved to the area and needed to find someone to cut my hair after two years of cutting it myself -- a skill I picked up during the pandemic. The salon is small and cute, and they greeted me with a warm welcome when I came in. Irene is the sweetest! She cut my fine, wavy/curly hair from one-length shoulder-length into the most adorable layered bob that enhances my hair's natural texture. She was very cautious, not wanting to cut too much, and let me know that I could come back in a week if I thought it wasn't quite right, and she'd fix it for me. I could tell that Irene really cares about her clients and wants to make them happy. I did end up going back the next week to get my layers adjusted a little, and Irene did a great job! Peggy did a fantastic job with my curly hair. I'd been cutting it myself for the first 3 years of the pandemic and finally got tired of looking kinda ratty. She absolutely understood what I was going for, didn't give me a hard time about my DIY haircut, and gave great advice on care for my curls. She also styled it afterwards (it looks good!) and this is the first time I've left a salon not looking like an overcombed poodle with a perm?? Magical. And inexpensive compared to other curly haircuts I've gotten in the Bay Area that were NOT as good but twice the price (looking at you, curly hair salon in Alameda). She's the only person who's ever been able to cut my son's hair and make it look amazing. Recently, her schedule and mine don't line up so I've been going to Marcela and she's such a delight. Her warmth and kindness are palpable and she's so fun to chat with. Last time I was there I mentioned I'd had a headache so she spent some extra time during my shampoo giving a little massage.
