They actually stole $150 from me. I was visiting Napa and saw they offered the Shockwave therapy, which is a treatment I get from my local doctor at home to help with muscle issues. Since I was a new patient, they asked me to prepay $150 until my insurance processed the claim. Once the insurance processed the claim, they never refunded my $150. I sent emails and voice messages but no reply back. Very unethical practice. read more

This place is a sham! If you just had any type major surgery on knees or shoulder do not go here. The person doing my PT was not a actual PT but an assistant and she did the exact same maneuver for several weeks rotating my shoulder gently for 5minutes while I lay flat on my back. Kristin saw me at my initial visit and the only other time I saw her she held my arm, did a tap tap with her hand on my shoulder and said, "there is goes" as if something gave. That took less than 1 minute - what a joke! Even my surgeon said he's hearing terrible things about this place. Also my insurance was charged for several procedures each visit that they never did. As an equestrian, I was excited to find a physical therapist who also rides. horses. However, when I tried to relate some of the issues I was having, her response was essentially to just get over it, rather than to find exercises which might help. As a patient (referred through Kaiser) I found Kristin Bowne to be condescending. I was overweight but limber and fit. However, I was fat-shamed and she made assumptions about my ability. The final straw was when a high school student intern from Bellermine awkwardly put his hand down the front of my pants to adjust the TENS device and needed a second therapist (?) to assist. I never returned, but the office billed Kaiser for two more visits. read more

I love Kristin and James at this Physical Therapy business. I am having physical therapy for a knee replacement. Kristin has all the latest therapies including laser and she works with you. Every appt has been at least an hour. Prior to finding Kristin Bowne's PT, I tried another service (Business X) as referred by my doctor's office. There was no heat, massage or laser therapy and the appt was 20 min and I left with a list of exercises-no therapy. 180 degree opposite experience at Kristin's office. I have found Kristin and her staff to be kind, flexible, understanding and so positive and patient. Every time I call for an appt, someone answers the phone promptly and I get in for an appt without an issue. Unlike business X, which did not pick up phone, did not call back after leaving a message and would go weeks without being able to find an appt slot. This is by far the worse Physical Therapy office I have ever attended. Kristin kept me waiting an hour while she stood outside the door to my exam room eating and laughing with her staff. The entire office stunk of onions and bad meat . It did not appear clean at all. The floor was dirty and so are the machines. The room I was in was dirty. Once she came in after an hour she lectured me on how "great" she is and boasted of her education which I could care less about. She is a narcissistic bore and very unskilled in Physical Therapy . She did nothing to help me at all . She criticized me for having chronic pain and insulted me . She dismissed my pain and was beyond unprofessional and rude. I cannot stress enough do not go to this office. Insult to the end when the receptionist demanded their co payments in advance ! I agree with other reviews that Kristin and Debbie are very knowledgable, but most often it was one of the many rotating assistants that you see. There is no consistency in who works with you. I was referred to PT for the same condition I have received care for at another practice, so I have an experience to compare to. The assistants vary from being pretty knowledgable to one that blurted out that she was new and had that "deer in the headlights" look. She just stood there while I did the exercises and then Kristin barked out orders to her. While I applaud Kristin for training, are my medical dollars being spent to heal me or to train newbies? Some of the exercises are performed on the floor. There is no designated area. You use the same floor area that staff and patients walk through to get to the exam rooms. While on the floor, using a rod, I had to dodge patients and staff as they walked by. They don't even put down a yoga mat. You are injured, getting down on the floor and balancing on a foam roller. I tried not to think about how dirty the floor was or how I looked to the people walking past my face that was inches from their feet. My hair is long and I am sure that my hair was in contact with that floor. Eww. My previous PT place had patients do these exercises on an exam table, off the floor. To top it off, the staff uses their shod feet to tip the rollers up, so I know that where I just had my head and body was in frequent contact with the underside of their shoes. I was so disenchanted with my experience, that I just stopped going. I never got a call back asking how I was doing or why I stopped. read more

Kristin Bowne is very knowledgeable and was polite. But honestly most of my 3 visits there were with very little interaction with her and mostly with a very sweet young lady that really had no knowledge of physical therapy. I was hooked up to a tens unit for two of my visits and the last time I was hooked up I was left in the room for over 2 cycles of the tens unit and at the end it had become uncomfortable and my arm was bouncing from the shocks .... I ended up taking them off myself because it was hurting so much, I was going to cry. Then the assistant came in and told me to wait for Dr Bowne, after 15 min she came in and felt my neck for less then a minute and said it felt good and then I was sent to the front ... I could not do the exercises they wanted me to for my post op shoulder surgery because of the injury I had also to my hand. So I was told to buy a 20 hand brace ... and said it was a waste of time to bill workers comp for it .... right after my shoulder felt horrible, it was like I was back to just one week after surgery, I thought maybe it would settle down but since that day my arm function has remained lower then before and I am back to having chronic pain. It is so upsetting and discouraging, I am a RN, I have enough knowledge to say that the visit did not help and set me back. I agree it's a PT mill, processing as many patients as possible to maximize profits. Maybe at one time it was not like this but it is this way now :( read more

I was referred to Kristin Bowne from Kaiser for PT after my ACL knee surgery. This was my 1st visit to her office and my 1st experience with w/ Physical Therapist ever. It will be my last with her. It was a horrible experience start to finish. Dr Bowne was abrupt, rude and disengaged in the 10 minutes of my 1 hour visit she spent with me. She accused me of tampering with the settings on my brace, saying they were all wrong. She told me that because of my age that my ACL failure rate is high without explaining why or how to avoid this. I had questions and comments and she didn't care. She simply said "dont listen to anyone without a a degree like me and dont listen to the internet!" By the time I was up and ready to begin the "therapy" she passed me on to a young lady (Larisol?) and barked orders at her to have me 10 sets this and 10 sets of that. This young lady seemed under qualified to guide me at these (especially my FIRST time) and also told me she could not help me with question on my brace---only my doctoer should. Then she didnt even stay with my as I did the exercises --because there were 2 two other patients she was also helping. It was clear that they run a PT "mill"---there were 5 patients there all at once being treated by this one young woman as Dr Bowne darted in and out barking orders at her. So odd! Finally as I was connected to the muscle stim machine all I could hear was Dr Bowne yelling at the young assistant that they had 20 minutes to close and she better hurry get all of the patients out the door! The way she treated her employee was worse than the way she treated me. She was awful and I WOULD NEVER go back. read more

I love Kristin Bowne and her crew! Every time I am in her office I get well taken care of. I have ongoing shoulder and neck issues and after the first visit I could actually move my neck without pain and I felt so much taller (I am pretty short so this is an accomplishment). Each visit I am assessed before they start any kind of therapy to make sure that they are treating the current issue (no easy feat in my case). The girls that work for her are attentive and professional and Kristin always has time to see me and personally do therapy with me. I recommend her highly! read more

I first had the pleasure of being treated by Dr. Bowne almost 20 years ago after a career-ending head injury. Sadly, I had already seen 4 physical therapists before her, and sometimes I just wanted to give up. None had really addressed my issues, or offered much help at all. When I saw Dr. Bowne, she offered me hope, encouragement, and said, "we can fix this" ... and she did. Thanks to her excellent care, not only was I able to resume my regular activities after just a few months, I even started training as a competitive athlete again! Throughout the aches, pains, and occasional injuries that come with riding and showing horses, she has been continually supportive, helpful, and has kept my aging body strong, healthy, and happy. Not only has she helped with the various sports injuries and strengthening over the years, her knowledge of drug free pain management has been extremely helpful as well. I was referred from my primary care physician for a chronic issue, but after only one visit, I will absolutely not return and asked for a referral to a PT group other family members have seen (Precision Therapy). I paid 150 for an initial visit and saw Dr Bowne for less than 5 minutes. The remainder of the over an hour visit was spent by myself with a warm compress, waiting for an assistant, and about 10 minutes with an assistant who didn't seem comfortable or competent. I saw Dr Bowne spend more time with other patients while I was there. My impression was that I was somewhat blown off since I am young (20). I described my visit to my sister who works in PT in San Diego. She says she's worked in mills like that, and that yes, I was just shuffled along without a proper evaluation. $150 down the drain. read more

Kristin Bowne has been AMAZINGLY helpful in treating my teenage daughters in her Napa office. They have both had athletic challenges requiring physical therapy. Kristin was able to throughly and efficiently diagnosis their biomechnical and joint related challenges. Her extensive experience and compassion for her patients are second to none. She takes the time needed to properly diagnosis and treat each patient's needs with care and expertise. My girls had consistent success with follow up exercises provide by Kristin and were able to quickly return to their active athletic lives. I recently had my ACL replaced and have found myself in the care of this office. The staff is very friendly and seem knowledgeable. I have only been to several appointments, but The staff seems to recognize me and greet me warmly. Since attending appointments here I have noticed significant improvement in mobility and a decrease in swelling. They have also sent me home with exercises that I can do without equipment. I know that the techniques I've learned have significantly improved my rehabilitation. The only reason this isn't a 5-star review is because even the casual observer can see that there is a hierarchy in the office and that all activities for every patient appear to require approval from the Doctor. While I'm sure there are liability reasons for this, and I'm also sure that it maintains a certain level of care, it can lead to strange periods of waiting around during transitions. Never the less, this is an office I enjoy visiting and would recommend. read more

I cannot recommend Kristin Bowne enough. If you have back problems, you do not want to go anywhere else. I have had back problems my whole life, they have only gotten worse as the years go by. I have never had relief. I have been to doctors, physical therapists, chiropractors, acupuncture, everything, to no avail. On the first day I met Kristin she looked me in the eye and said, "we can fix this". After one month, all my acute pain was gone. Finally. And my condition is only improving still. She has the touch. Kristin, Debbie, and her team of therapists have been monumental in helping me with my knee tracking issues. I was experiencing pain daily, particularly in my left knee. I met with Kristin or Debbie and their team once a week for almost four months. They taught me exercises to strengthen my quad and pull my kneecap back into its proper place. As the weeks went on, the exercises got more advanced, and ultimately I had a diverse repertoire of exercises I could perform at the gym or home to help keep my knee align. I also received stim at every visit. At the end of my therapy, I purchased a knee brace manufactured by a German company that Kristin began carrying and highly recommended. I wear it to work, at the gym, on my bike, and my kneecap stays aligned! I rarely experience any pain in my knees and am back to doing the exercises and activities that I love! Thanks team Bowne! I have been very disappointed with this business group. They do not return phone calls. I went there for PT on my back. It turns out that what I had been told was wrong was incorrect. The owner, Kristin Bowne, did identify the real problem but, then proceeded with therapy that was unrelated to my issue. When I questioned her approach she flippantly replied that she felt some tension in my upper back when what I came in for was my lower back. The owners site advertises Therapeutic Massage, which in my mind implied 'therapy utilizing massage techniques'. I was told up front that I would need to pay out of pocket since Medicare does not cover this type of therapy. I paid but then decided to check into the Medicare coverage. I was told by the office that they had spoken to Medicare. I called Medicare three times. I was told repeatedly that if the condition was medically related then they would pay. I even went as far to get a prescription from my Orthopedic Dr. Kristin's office still refused to 'bill Medicare'. I ask for the "super bill" what I would need to submit my own claim. They refused to supply me with this as well. Do not go here!! read more
