Kristina is literally THE BEST. If you're considering voice lessons with her, seriously go for it -- you'll be astounded. I've been working with her for over a year and half now, and I started from *nothing*. With Kristina's help, my voice has gotten stronger, I've gained so much more confidence in my abilities, and I've learned so much about technique (but in a really simple, straightforward, do-able way). If you have even the slightest nervousness about voice lessons, Kristina is your teacher. She never makes you sing alone unless you want to! And between all of the fun exercises, it's a very gradual, very non-intimidating path towards singing solo *if you want to.* I know she has pro-level students as well, but Kristina is definitely beginner-friendly. Part of what drew me to Kristina was her vibe. She's, simply stated, The Coolest Person Ever. She's a little bit rock-and-roll, a little bit San Francisco, and a whole lot of joyful, hilarious, knowledgable, and accepting. Our lessons are very healing to me: we warm up with humming and chanting for a very somatic, embodied practice that does wonders for my nervous system. Kristina is a really wonderful guitar instructor who practices patience with her students. I chose Kristina because I felt more comfortable taking lessons from a female instructor. They understand the way women think and feel and also understands our anatomy and how that affects guitar holding and playing. She caters each lesson to your needs as every student is different and has different interests. I like that she takes her time to personalize the lessons based on what interests you and excites you to pick up the guitar to play. She also provides singing lessons! I haven't written a review on Yelp in some time but felt compelled to about Kristina because she's so wonderful! I'd never taken voice lessons before, and hence had quite a bit of trepidation going into it, but Kristina immediately made me feel at ease. Her personality is warm and welcoming. From a technical perspective, she knows exactly what she's doing. Over just a few lessons, my range greatly improved, and my voice no longer feels tired from singing. Importantly (at least for me), she made the lessons fun! She has an expansive and worldly knowledge of music, so we never warmed up with chords from the same genre of music twice. We also started each lesson with various warm-up techniques accompanied by a magical and unique instrument called the shruti box. So cool! Kristina is the best!! I used to sing regularly in high school/college and missed it, and so I was looking for a way to fit singing back into my busy work schedule. Kristina is flexible on scheduling vs. other instructors I've had that ask you to sign up (and pay for) for multiple time slots in advance. With Kristina, I will just shoot her an email 1-2 weeks prior to the date and she'll let me know if she has a slot available. Easy! Most importantly, she's an experienced and supportive instructor. She teaches you breathing techniques and different scales/warmups that have helped me personally to improve my range and confidence. She allows you to choose your own songs to work on with her (a first in my experience with other instructors!) which makes the lessons even more enjoyable as you get to sing something you'll really have fun with.
