This Kroger is one of the better ones on the area, clean and has a decent size "healthy" food section - Ezekiel bread, lactose free milk, gluten-free pizza etc. however, the shelves are always empty!! I have gone 3 times in a week and the products I want still didn't come in! ??? read more

They have an entire aisle for vegans. I shop here all the time. They have everything I need. Fresh produce always stocked well.

The market itself is outdated but friendly staff. Good organic selection of veggies/fresh products. Overall, I'd go there again.

This review is for the Kroger's gas station. I only purchase gas from this Kroger Station because of the lower price, not including the fuel points. About two weeks ago my SUV started idling rough and began losing power on acceleration. I thought it was a clogged fuel filter, so I had it changed. My truck was ok for a day, then the problem got worst. My truck started stalling and turning off every time I stopped at a red light or in stop and go traffic. I even almost got hit by a semi on the expressway because it stalled. I took it to a different mechanic. He checked for vacuum leaks, ran codes, and checked spark plugs. Everything appeared fine and in working condition. He then checked the gas tank. He withdrew about three ounce of fuel. The gas was completely clear, like water (picture upload). He told me to contact Kroger's to see if when filling their under ground tanks there was a mix up with diesel or E85. I called Krogers, but the Manager informed me no one else had complained. I'm writing to see if anyone has had a similar experience. If so please post it. Thanks. read more

Avoid this Kroger location. It is dirty inside and out. I went in several times to pick up a few quick items, three times in a row the attendant at the "U-scan" avoided helping me. This is the worst Kroger I have ever been in. I try to avoid it at all costs, I have accidentally bought expired products here more then once. Unfortunately, it is the most convenient market to my house and sometimes a trip is unavoidable for a last minute item. The last time I walked in the produce area was a disaster. The floors were filthy, the produce was so old the garlic was sprouting like it had been there for weeks. The misting system is old and broken and looks like a bacterial playground. On this particular occasion, I made the mistake of going to the bathroom. Big, big mistake. The back area is filthy, the bottle room stinks like rotten garbage and the bathroom was a disgusting mess. There was urine and feces all over the toilets and mildew on the walls and random air fresheners in the middle of the floor. I turned around and walked out on a basket of groceries. DO NOT shop at this store. If you do, at least watch the expiration dates and avoid the produce. read more

I am updating my previous review. I had all but given up on this Kroger--preferring the store on 12/Dequindre. My family insisted that I give this newer, updated Kroger in my home town a chance. I did--several times since the reconstruction. It started out hit or miss because while the face of the store had changed there was still some mighty crappy attitudes going on with the employees. I will have to say that upon my last two visits (and this last one after the grand opening) I am becoming more willing to amend my opinion of the staff. I have seen some different faces here and was pleasantly surprised. The attitudes are definitely improved to the point where they are all very nice and courteous. No more rolling of the eyes, ignoring the customer to engage with other staff exclusively and just general all around smiles. As for the store there are, of course, definite improvements. I'm not thrilled that I have to walk the entire back of the store for the dairy items. I wish the pharmacy and paper products could have been in that area and the dairy moved over to where the frozen foods were. Why does dairy always have to be on the back shelves? I know that it's a marketing "thing" but still irks me. Will I give up my 12/Dequindre store for this one? I may eventually but this Kroger still has some real damage control (for me) to make it my #1. read more

I went to this Kroger for the first time today. There was plenty of parking and the store wasn't overly crowded, even though it was 10am on a Saturday. The selection was fresh, and they were stocking fresh produce and fish. The store was clean and easy to maneuver. I gave them 4 stars instead of 5 because of how few check out lanes they had open. There were only 2 regular lanes open, and then one express lame. Even tho I had to wait in line to heck out, the cashier and bagger were fast, which kinda made up for it. I used to drive up to the Kroger on Coolidge by 15 Mile, but this one is much cleaner and closer. I'll be going to this one regularly from now on. L read more

This Kroger was my second choice because the first choice had gridlock in the parking lot...just way too crowded. So when I arrived at this Kroger location I was disappointed because they looked like they were crowded too but I just resigned myself to making the best of it and went in and I shopped for groceries. But this is what I really want to comment on. I asked for assistance (TWICE) in finding an item, and got it, along with accompanying me to the items, smiles and even a high five. Never in my total experience of shopping at Kroger has this happened. I was amazed at the customer service level shown to me yesterday and I won't forget it! Management should be FIRED!!!!!! This is the most poorly managed place I have ever stepped foot in. Like others said "ZOMBIES" and "CRAZIES". I think either corporate has given up on this store or overlooks the practices going on. Prices are mismarked, empty shelves, no one says a word to you even when checking out, workers and extremely rude, an overall horrible experience. Ok, I've only lived in Hazel Park for about 4 years, but we've always gone to Kroger. Its literally a few blocks away, and they have a sale, on something every single day (I think, I mean, I don't go there but twice a week). The jerk who said they have rude costumers and horrible staff, with dirty floors and a torn up parking lot, is a troll. He is the only rude costumer in there. I bump into neighbors all the time, and occasionally old friends from years ago. I've even become friendly with some of the girls at the registers. The staff remember my kids' names and give them stickers every time we're there. The girls at the deli always give my kids a slice of turkey or provolone while we're waiting on a pound of sliced meat. The staff have always been awesome there. The produce has the most selection (always way more choices than Meijer and especially way more than the Van Dyke Walmart). And I find that, out of all the store brand foods out there, my family prefers the taste of Kroger brand over everything else (except we have to admit that Walmart's great value fruit yogurt is amazing). As far as the floors are concerned, there is one section where the floors look bad, over at the registers. HOWEVER, that is because they just ripped out the register where the cigarettes used to be sold, and put two regular registers there to boost check out speed. They haven't had a chance to repair the floor yet. The manager, when I asked, told me they still have more renovations planned. The parking lot is in great shape. It is NOT torn up. And they recently (like not even a month ago) repainted the lot, so there are very distinctly marked parking spots and walking zones. If you find the lot to be a little crowded, maybe that's because this Kroger is in a strip-mall. Also, its right at an 1-75 entrance ramp. Lest we forget, they literally just built a new Kroger Gas Station in the same parking lot, last year. There is BOUND to be a buttload of drivers, to the nitwit who likes to rant like a toddler without considering the obvious. This is the first (and sadly, so far, the only) Kroger I've visited that actually cares about the appearance of their store, and care of the costumers. I prefer to shop here over Meijer, and even Walmart. Speaking of: Meijer does NOT have better prices. They have one of the most expensive grocery center's (next to the 3 H's: Holiday, Hollywood, and Hiller's), I've ever been too, and I've lived in the Berkley/ RO/Hazeltuckey area my whole life. And to the snobs who are trolling about what people wear in the grocery store. Who the crap cares!? If you think they are too trashy, maybe you should stick to being a snob at Holiday and stay the hell away from my store. For most of the regular costumers, the store is literally a block away from their house, so if they are in their house clothes, why bother changing into a business suit and putting your make up on, to pick up a gallon of milk? And I've never met anyone who where's handkerchiefs for tops ( and I do go there 2-3 times a week). Also, how the poop do you know the 35 year old woman was the girl's grandmother? What makes you so perfect, and mightier than thou, anyway? Stupid people are so annoying sometimes. I also think the guy back in may who said there was broken wine bottles on the floor with no employee in sight, made that up. Everytime I walk in there, I always see at least two employees at the costumer service desk, which overlooks the alcohol isle, and there is always two employees floating around produce, a guard at both entrances, and managers floating around all over the register area. Not to mention the random employees filling shelves and inventory all over the store. I've NEVER had an issue finding and receiving assistance from an employee. NEVER. The only reason we wouldn't go to Kroger on John R. at 9 Mile, for groceries first, is if the place burned down. Don't listen to the freaks barking about how bad it is. Just go there for yourself and you'll see how wrong they are. read more

Even though Meijer's just opened, I still find myself driving past there 8 out of 10 times to shop at Kroger's. Management seems to have a watchful eye on employees, and most are pretty helpful and polite. I can catch really good sales and I buy many of the Kroger Brands. The drawback is that sometimes the shelves can be bare, especially the meat department. Overall my shopping experience is good and I will continue to go back. Love the fuel points! read more

Had an interview there, the girl who conducted the interview was really young and seemed intimidated by me. Also she didn't really know how to talk to me, it seems she can only identify with one kind of group of people. She rushed the interview as if she had other things to do and didn't really try to get to know me as one should when interviewing someone. I think they should have a seasoned adult doing that work(my opinion). Most if not all of my interviews had been with adults in their thirty's and up, and they understand that sometime young people know what they want to say but some of us need help getting it out and articulating it, she did not understand this or try to. Some of us have conditions that prevent us from being able to interact with people like this, Asperger's syndrome for example. On top of that she is the biggest liars I have ever met. she lied and said she didn't hire my friend and I talk to him all the time so I know he works there. How do you think that makes me feel? She probably likes him. But seriously Kroger get an adult to do your hiring work. I was judged by appearance and not intellect or skill. So the hell with that girl and that place. I am down on my luck and I am getting tired. I just don't understand people and their judgmental ways. read more
