Kroger has upped their game a notch, no doubt feeling the competition from the big new HEB across the street. In particular, this store has a cleaner, lighter and more up to date feel than most Kroger stores. Unfortunately, a Kroger is still a Kroger. They eliminated the in store butchers and in store bakeries years ago and have not brought them back. As a result, the meat section is dominated by prepackaged items of questionable content. What do they put into the "Moist and Tender" pork to modify the texture? Those prepackaged ground meats in opaque containers are the kind of item that generates the "X million pounds of ground beef was recalled today..." headlines. Similarly, the baked goods section at Kroger needs a serious makeover. I am just not that interested in a $1.00 prefab mini apple pie laden with preservatives and corn starch. Ditto the chocolate section. Gourmet chocolate at Kroger mean Hershey's and Nestle's dark chocolate bars, not the selection of gourmet brands and imports that you find at HEB, Whole Foods or Central Market. Cadbury is exotic for Kroger. read more

This review is for the bakery section only. This Kroger has the best bakery! For years, my family has gotten cakes, cupcakes, cookies, pies, etc. from this Kroger. They are a favorite for birthday cakes! I brought a King Cake to my office today which was baked at Kroger this morning, and it was a total hit! i feel kind of stupid reviewing a grocery store...but i love this location! they have a great OPI nail polish section... the coffee shop upstairs is open until 2 am...and the rest of the store is 24 hours. whoa. never been disappointed with their produce...don't know much about the meat because i usually buy those hormone-injected 10 pack of chicken thighs for 5 dollars deals. read more

Haha, I'm running out of restaurants to review so I will move onto my favorite places in the world: supermarkets. This is hands-down the biggest, nicest, best Kroger I have ever seen. It is bigger and cleaner than Central Market and cheaper than Whole Foods. I'm addicted to Kroger because it is 24 hours and I live about 1 minute away from the one in Sugar Land. I go to Kroger all the time to pick up misc items like eggs, cereal, or Sobe LifeWater at 3 AM. I wish it were the one on Buffalo Speedway. read more

Favorite grocery store! I'm from Cincinnati, so stepping into Kroger here feels like home. They carry all my favorites, and I am a huge fan of a lot of their Private Label haul (Simple Truth, Private Selection, Kroger brands..). They are the only grocery I've found that carries Quest Bars so far, the cashiers were very quick and friendly, and the layout is easy to navigate :-). read more

NIcest Kroger I have ever been to... and I've been to a lot! Huge fresh produce section. A plentiful wine/beer section. Easy to navigate. Check out is a breeze. Only downside is that the parking lot is quite full so plan to park out a ways... This isn't nearly as fancy as a Whole Foods or Central Market, but for the prices I will make Kroger my regular stop and supplement at Whole Foods when necessary. They always have people giving out free samples and it makes me so happy to turn every corner. I have a ridiculous love of this place! read more

Lived in Houston for a year. This was my grocery store. The only reason I'm reviewing it is because during Hurricane Ike, they worked their butts off to get people ice, fresh food, you name it. Sure, they're a business and are out to make money, but that was not about making money. They were helping people who needed help. I was and still am impressed. I also started my love affair with Shiner-Bock here. They always had and probably still have a great selection of fresh fruits and veggies. This is my go-to grocery store for weekly shopping. I have several more grocery stores closer to where I live but this one is worth a couple extra miles. The staff here is very friendly and willing to help. I have had too many experiences where they have gone above and beyond on customer service. Kroger produce by nature isn't the best to be offered, but they do a great job of getting the freshest produce out! There are also hardly any gnats which I've seemed to experience so much this summer, even in whole foods. The store is always clean too. Dirty grocery stores gross me out. read more

My. Favorite. Grocery. Store. I love this place. I come here between 2 to 3 times a week. Such great prices, excellent health foods selection, with organic and gluten free products, and a massive produce department. The sushi at this Kroger is quite tasty as well compared to the other store bought sushi I've had. For what it's worth, it's delicious and worth trying. Parking is great, and unlike the HEB across the street, it's SO quiet. You can hear yourself think and the aisles aren't constantly crowded no matter what time of day you are there. Self-checkout or regular is always good, and it's safe even at night. Beautiful store, and excellent selection. Nothing else comes close. read more

My first exposure to Kroger was the ghetto Kroger on Montrose. Blllecch. Horrible outdated store, a meat counter that will eat up 30 minutes even if there's only two people waiting, and a parade of weirdos. This Kroger is much nicer. It's so much better you can't believe it's the same chain. Much more variety, much more well-stocked. It's also cheaper than Randall's who like to stick it to you. On the bad side: When a corporation tries to pretend that they produce stuff locally (just like the neighborhood baker they ran out of business), by addign a bakery, what is the point when the result is stale bagels and stale donuts? at every hour of the day? Apparently the donuts are fresh for only 4 minutes at exactly 3:22am every morning. The "chocolate frosted grocery-store donut" is a delicious, sublime treat at every store I've ever purchased one at, on this continent; except Krogers. What gives? I am perpetually bewildered by the rock-bottom, low quality baked goods here. read more

a shout out for a wonderful neighborhood store I used to go to the exhalted Montrose store, but since moving to Southside, this store is much closer in many ways it matches its community needs better & the difference in time traveled is HUGE as I like their dairy & fish departments clean, well stocked & very friendly excellent selection of vegan/organic & speciality foods good prices on Foodsaver bags interesting coffee selection & I a lovely florist shop right up front, setting a sweet ambiance for this elegant Kroger, though not quite up to my beloved Post Oak Rice Epicurean which may have been the most elegant grocery I have ever shopped & sadly went belly up convenience a big factor in my rating, but a store well worth visiting & worth a card that defrays some of the prices particularly if you use their gas, unavailable at this store, but at many others about the city read more

BEST Kroger inside the 610 loop. Seattle's Best, located inside 2nd floor, has free WiFi and has spacious seating area. This place is always clean and carry more international and organic items than other Krogers. Love their floral and bakery department. Unfortunately, I don't care for their meat/seafood department. read more

As far as Kroger's go, this one takes the cake. Lovely place with tolerable parking within the strip center. Lots of samples and high quality goods throughout the store. I believe they even have clowns who make balloon animals on the weekends. My particular favorite is the Seattle's Best upstairs. The coffee is decent and there is ample space with free wifi which I would spend a few hours studying, eating, and shopping all in one go around. read more

I buy from Kroger due to their baked chicken, good medium size eggs & cookie selection. But their on-line pick up website needs updating. It will not allow customer to add to their order the next day, regardless of what time your pick up is. HEB allows customer to add up to 4 hrs before pick up time, which is very helpful to the customer, as one does not have to bother the staff at the location to manually add to one's order. The Kroger online 800 tele # is useless! Long boring message and then you never talk to a real person. In past I tried discussing this with the "manager" in charge of their website, but he was clueless. read more

No one seems to be monitoring the Motorized shopping carts, so none of them were plugged in and charged, so the one that I used quit on me in the back of the store, I had to hobble out the store, didn't buy any thing, quite ridiculous. It is so easy to appoint one person per shift to make sure the carts are being plugged in, very easy. read more

This is BEST Kroger in Hoston, It has every thing that we need. and well organized. especially Siattle BEST Coffe is really good! And bread or cakes are a lot better quality than any other Kroger in Houston. If you live this area, it will be good to stop by and try fresh food in Kroger. read more

This is a really nice Kroger with a large selection of groceries. The salad bar and cold foods section near the deli is the best. Kroger is a little on the pricier side compared to Randalls and HEB so I only come here every once in a while. read more

While the Kroger itself is wonderful, this review is for the ClickList service it recently started offering. I decided to try it once and had a poor experience. I scheduled my order for pickup between 11 and 12. I arrived at 11:10 to find that all the ClickList parking spaces were filled. I waited a few minutes, then noticed the spaces weren't filled by people waiting - they were filled by people actually shopping inside. I gave up and pulled to the side of the parking lot to just walk in. I waited outside the ClickList area for several minutes before someone opened the door (it was locked). By 11:20, the employee shared with me that they were "overworked and understaffed" and that one of my baskets had gone missing. He asked me to wait five more minutes outside. I am here waiting; in this time, at least three other customers have walked up to pick up their groceries, only to be told the groceries aren't ready yet. By this point, it would've been faster for me to just shop myself. I might just cancel my order. The ClickList experience is only worth it if it's seamless and user-friendly. My experience has been anything but. Until Kroger irons out these difficulties, I won't be trying ClickList again. read more

This is and always has been with out any doubt the best place in our area to shop. They have the best, largest selection in every department and if you cannot find something there are plenty of employees to help. All you have to do is ask someone. They have one of the friendliest staffs of any business I deal with. Their pharmacy department is the best, always going out of their way to help me anyway they can. Needless to say, in all of the years I have shopped here, which would be since they opened, I have never experienced a real problem. For those of us who have been here long enough to remember hurricane Ike; let's don't forget how they were the only store open for days and hard they all worked to make sure we had food and ice. okay, i've conceded to reveal my most favorite study spot in the world...THE WORLD. i was hesitant to do this in fear of people crowding my spot, but because i'm such an avid fan of this place, i thought it was better for mankind to share it with anyone who is reading. this very special krogers has its very own seattle's best coffeehouse on the SECOND floor that overlooks the entire grocery store. not only is the coffee delicious, they also have adequately sized tables, free-wi , and lots of outlets to camp out at for those long 8-hour study sessions. OH, and the best part is you have access to unlimited amounts of food because it's a GROCERY STORE!! if you've ever wanted to study in a pantry, this is definitely the place to do it. the red bull is well-stocked, food sampling is encouraged, the bathrooms are clean, and the magazines are up to date....if that doesn't sound like a study haven, i don't know what is. read more

I shop here weekly & experience terrible sacking a majority of the time. I take my sweet time picking out unbruised produce only to have the sacker bag them with heavy items & then I arrive home to unpack bruised produce. I try to bag my own groceries even with a toddler in my arms but a sacker usually comes over to "help" me. Dude, you aren't helping me by putting cans on top of my bananas! All sackers should learn to put produce in separate bags from heavy items such as canned goods. I guess sometimes common sense isn't so common. People constantly speed through the parking lot despite the signs & some speed bumps. Apparently these folks are in a hurry & don't believe in stopping at the Stop signs or letting pedestrians cross. Please be very careful with your little ones in the parking lot! *Update 6/11/2017* I just wanted recap my most recent visit. Cashier asked "do you mind helping him bag?" I am trying to keep a toddler inside the cart & from losing my wallet & thought I misheard the cashier but she repeats it again. I am surprised at her request but I tell her "sure, give me a sec". (I'm sure I would've said yes to anything at that point. If you have a toddler then you can relate to trying to maintain the calm before the storm at the grocery store.) So there I am, trying to keep a toddler from lunging forward out of my left arm to play with the credit card machine & bagging my own groceries with my right hand along side the paid sacker. If the cashier knows the bagger needs help then why is he still sacking?!?! read more

Do not trust this bakery with your party cake! We ordered a cake several days ago, for a birthday party on Saturday evening. We arrived at the designated time, with order confirmation in hand, to pick up the custom birthday cake. The Kroger bakery staff had no cake -no record of any order for a cake (we werw advised that they couldn't gi inlune ti see the order)- and appeared to have no interest in doing anything about it. The immediate supervisor simply said that there was nothing she could do about it. Another manager was called to the bakery. He suggested that they could get to work immediately, to get us the cake we ordered. Then, he was advised by his bakery staff that they couldn't make that cake, because they didn't have any of the Monster High accessories for the theme cake. Never once were we contacted by Kroger, to be advised that the cake was not possible. I hardly see the point of having a book of these designs, and having them listed online, if they're not going to be possible. But then again, I don't see the point to online ordering, if it's never going to be handed by the bakery dept. We ended uo leaving the Kroger to find a cake elsewhere. Why should we pay for a cake that is not what we ordered? If we have to settle for something other than the custom theme cake we ordered, then we'd rather do that in a place that appreciates our business and actually tries to muster enough common courtesy to handle customers. Now we're spending the time before this party trying to find a substitute cake. Thanks for ruining a theme birthday party, Kroger! Way to embrace the mediocrity. read more

I go with a friend because he likes the steam table food. Most of the people are ok, but a few that work back there are just rude - all the time. If you hate people why work where you have to help them? Cashiers for the most part do not care, or are rude also. They had a bunch of men in suits there last week and every single person was so nice and friendly. Next day, no suits, no smiles, no customer service! HEB is so much better! read more

I went here to buy fresh fruit which ended up largely being stale once cut open. This isn't however why I'm giving them a bad rating. They never clear the lot of carts, and one crashed into the front of my car after it was hit by another car which caused a huge gash on my hood. The cut was so deep that if caused a dent. The manager took pictures of it, as I explained how it happened, even lining up a cart handle to exactly match the height and place of the dent. I also pointed out it was directly in line of their cc TV camera. Despite this, they blatantly lied and said they had no witnesses to this happening. There was no one on duty in the lot at the time as evidenced by fact it was full of carts! They refused to share CCTV footage with me, or let me view it with them. Dishonest pricks. I'm an independent contractor with Shipt. I had multiple delivery only orders today via Kroger Clicklist and ALL of my orders were late as a result of poor management and understaffing. I called 10 minutes prior to arriving to the store to ensure that more orders would be ready to go when I got there. I arrive at the store only to wait around for over 30 minutes. I asked to speak to a manager and instead of him trying to get to the bottom of the problem all he did was make excuses. As a member of management if you clearly know that you are understaffed then you should do your diligence to hire directly they your company or get a third party temp agency involved to hire the help you need especially with the holidays approaching. If they are struggling before the holidays I can only imagine the inconvenience people are going to experience during the holidays. I can't speak on other locations and how they run their Clicklist department but as far as this location it's trash. People pay for convenience not to wait in a parking spot for over 20 minutes for someone to bring out groceries. Being under staffed is not the consumers problem. read more

I like everything about this store except for some of tha people who work there. I work for Dr. Pepper and the back door lady harass me just about every time I go into this store to work. With that being said I walk into tha store on my off day aroubd 6:30 to get some Starbucks and buy some magazines i shop here often since it is really close to my house. She then starts yelling at me asking am I working for Dr. Pepper today I said no mam she then says im talking to u I said once again no mam im not she then says to me did u buy that book I said no im still reading it to see if I want to buy it her store manger come over and takes her side and just leave I will never go bsck to this store again read more

It's a great store with lots of selection; unfortunately, when I ordered a custom cake (that was very simple AND that I made an illustration of on the computer) it came out nothing like I wanted it to be. I don't know if it was because they were all chronically colorblind, or if it was because none of them spoke English in the bakery department. Stopped in recently to get a few items, including yogurt and produce. The store is clean and attractive. It's not too enormous, which I like. However, the organic skim milk is often scarce as it was this time, and many items i saw in the dairy case were either at or beyond their expiration date. I hate getting home with an item with a bad date, and I'm to busy and frazzled to take the item all the way back to the store when this happens. This kroger is a nice place. Their deli section is awesome and their sushi always looks very fresh. They do hand out a lot of samples of food and even wine at times. The store is organized and nothing is hard to find. The produce section is clean and the products are fresh and presentable. They have a small organic section which is good for cliff bars. They have a stand where they make fresh orange juice. For those who like cheese they have a huge cheese section. The checkout lines are good and there seems to always be enough of them open unlike walmarts. There are 8-10 self checkouts as well. read more

I was in this location again, looking at its selection of paper products when a manager named Gary got on the PA system and called one of his employees to the aisle. When the employee arrived, this Gary began chewing him out very rudely in front of several other customers and me. The employee was mortified that he was being ripped apart in front of customers. If the other customers were like me, they were made terribly uncomfortable. What this manager did was extremely unprofessional, and he ruined the shopping experience for those of us who were caught in the middle of his rant. I wrote to Kroger's corporate headquarters about what I witnessed, but I received no response. There are other choices in the area. read more

Please read this before you eat at the cafe at this krogers. There Has been multiple occasions in which I have gone to eat here for lunch. Today was the last straw , I went to pour myself a cup of the self serve soup , today it was broccoli cheddar, and when I lift the lid up a cockroach comes out of the soup. Before this occasion I ordered food to go and there was a roach in the food also, I've spoken to the manager about this all they do is pull the item but they clearly have a pest issue please do not eat here at all. read more

We've been going to this Kroger for some time now ( sometimes every other day) and it was great until recently. Lately the customer service has been lacking big time!! I am not sure if it was because of the Holiday season or what but a lot of the staffers (including management by the name of Brent) are just rude. I am so BIG on customer service and it is a shame it is very rare to find. I do not come to a store to get people rolling eyes, making weird faces or holding personal conversations while checking me out at the register. We will no longer shop at this Kroger. We will drive to the S. Voss location or H-E-B on San Felipe. read more

Love this store..So much variety ... The employees are friendly, polite, and helpful..The selection is wonderful & The sushi here is so addictive.. I tend to get it at least 3 times a week.. I'm craving their California Roll right now ..lol Now of course because of where they are located I find the prices kinda on the higher end than say that of HEB..but that's the way it is at some locations.. plus at this store you get a lot of selection verses that of say their Polk St. store which is nice but has a small deli and no sushi or salad bar. read more
