I like this store. First stop is Tour de Jour for a Cranberry Scone. Delicious. I just wish this bakery was larger, however. Took a Milk Bread home. I went for meats. Can't beat the prices although they went up some. Still worth the drive to save any amount of money these days. When you shop, know you will not all you need here such as milk at price you can afford, cookies as in USA brands, canned goods. It is an Asian market where you can get all you need for that culture and cuisine. I love shopping there. A elderly woman insisted on helping me with a watermelon. She saw my PICC Line and even though I said I was OK, she wanted to help. Very nice because I didn't really need help. The staff are very helpful all through out the entire store. read more

The OG Houston location! It's overall a pretty good H-Mart. Unfortunately, they don't always restock when they get hit with the sale rush during a new ad drop. More than once I've gone the day after a sale starts and they're already sold out of something. It happens more for rarer fruits and vegetables like kabocha, but for things like bok choy and other Asian vegetables, it's usually very good. Has a nice little food court and bakery, and a home goods section. There's also an eyeglasses store that I've never used. read more

This has so far been my go to Hmart and I do love how spacious and clean it is. The produce is particularly great and if I ever wanted beef for grilling or seafood, I know where to go. I only wish it had an extra frozen food aisle for more easy cook Korean food and stews, as I definitely am missing some staples I'd have picked up in the NY/NJ Hmarts. But they do have a lot of variety of Asian food and more, which makes it an easy one stop shop to plan out your week/month for all the different cuisines you can eat. I also personally wished they kept the ready to easy lunch boxes and such either under a heat lamp or in the fridge, but maybe I'm just paranoid (NYC is super strict and even have their own food handler licensing agency compared to Houston). But I do love knowing I can grab a quick lunch or dinner from here (go past the produce area to the back right corner). Cashiers have generally been pretty friendly too and not to jinx myself, but even when it's busy, the vibe here hasn't felt terrible or super chaotic. read more

So glad that I stopped by after work midweek. Super easy to park and get a basket filled with fresh Asian produce and vegetarian Kimbap. Such a great selection of vegetables at this Super H-Mart. Baby bok choy. Eggplant. Choy sum. Bean sprouts. Onions. Napa cabbage. Water spinach. Mushrooms. Great for soup on a rainy day. So many mushrooms. Enoki. Shitake. Wood ear. Chestnut. Oyster. King oyster. High in fiber. Delicious in soups and stir fry. So good for you. Lots of Vietnamese snacks. Gimbap. Candies. A fresh bakery. Check out the specials at the food court. Nice to get an order of vegetarian gimbap that was made as a special order. Cooked rice with vegetables and egg rolled in gim, dried seaweed, and cut into bite sized pieces. Love this H Mart! I have not been to the Bellaire location yet so I don't have grounds for comparison. I can only compare it to other H Marts in different cities as well as different Asian grocery stores (like 99 Ranch). Either way, I was impressed by this location. It was very clean, no messes or funky smells. Everything seemed super fresh and well-stocked. Great produce department. Lots of options. Found some beni imo (or Okinawan sweet potato aka Hawaiian sweet potato). It was popularized by the Netflix Blue Zones documentary. My first time trying it so I chopped it up and air fried it with some olive oil. Delicious! Always excited by H Mart's amazing mushroom selection. I make a medley with all different types -- so yummy! The meat and seafood departments were very clean and organized too. Got some filet mignon and mackerel at very reasonable prices. Lots of awesome frozen items. Obsessed with the kimchi mandu (dumplings) that we found here. The food court was pretty good although the restaurants seemed a bit redundant. Lots of Korean bowls like bibimbap. I did have Korean fried chicken from ToreOre and it was pretty damn delicious. It takes 15 minutes to prepare, FYI. The food court bathroom was the one place that was not clean. One of the toilets was out of commission since it had unflushed poo (not sure if it was not flushing or the person just didn't care to try). Another toilet was full of pee/toilet paper since the handle was broken and it wasn't flushing. That only left one functional toilet. This was in the early afternoon too. Could definitely improve on the bathroom front. read more

I remember how much I loved Super HMart at Blalock years ago. There is always traffic to get here and there is always trouble to find parking on weekends. My recent visit was only to stuck in traffic due to roadway construction. After walked in to the store, I immediately felt welcomed by the fresh produce. I overlooked those food vendors on purpose because I just had a big lunch. I remember how much I loved to take break at those restaurants when I worked in an office nearby prior to Covid pandemic. The prices are fairly reasonable and comparable to other Asian grocery stores. I just don't understand why there was no Korean candies in this HMart. I could find them at the Bellaire HMart, though. My wife is Korean so we always stop at H Mart when traveling. Wish we had H Mart in Omaha. Huge selection of every type of Korean food imaginable. The live seafood section was interesting. We had lunch in the food mall area and it was amazingly delicious. Some of the best bulgogi I've ever had, and I've been to some famous bulgogi restaurants in Seoul, Korea. Finally, appreciate that they accept Apple Pay in the restaurants and in the checkout counter. read more

I LOVE Hmart. One cool aspect of this supermarket: the Blalock location is literally just down the road from 99 Ranch. If one store is out of or doesn't stock a particular item, you can quickly drive to the other store. One holiday a few years back, during the height of the pandemic, I found that Hmart was the only grocery store open. Because of this, I was able to get seafood to prepare a holiday family dinner. During my most recent visit, I bought wood ear mushrooms (kikurage), which are not easy to find, and mung bean sprouts. The price for sprouts - at 99 cents per bag - is really good, and a great deal compared to standard non-Asian supermarkets, which charge four dollars for the same thing. Service here is always good. There's also a bakery in store I want to try on the next visit. The different varieties of kimchi are appealing. Highly recommended. read more

Other Asian food stores are basically free-for-all warehouses with a much lower price point because finding items can be a hunt. Super H Marts are the best because they are bigger than "regular" H Marts and thus carry more items for sale. I love my vegetables and fruits, so it was a welcome sight to see that this Super H Mart had a large produce section upon entering. As far as I could tell, the quality of all the produce looked fresh, with everything neatly stacked & organized. There is an extensive selection of meats, seafood, refrigerated items, prepared foods, pantry goods, and frozen items. They also have a good selection of Asian alcohols. Adjacent to the alcohol is a variety of houseware and cookware. Don't forget to grab some baked goods on the way out! Since I was here early morning on a Saturday, not too many other customers were inside shopping. The parking lot also had plenty of open parking spaces, but I imagine it can get crowded later on during the day. read more

I'm not that S-mart but I know a K-mart when I see them, and this is not one of those. This is an H-mart. Not to be confused with your mother's painting store (Momart). And HIMart is paintings of men. This is not that. Thankfully. This place is key to Koreantown of Houston, in fact you could say it's the Hmartbeat of the community. H Mart. Not to be confused with Ache Mart which is where you buy painkillers. Whether you have a Tooth H or a Tummy H, you can find something to make you feel better here at H Mart. This is one of 2 H Mart locations in Houston which I've been to on many many occasions. It's filled with six or seven different great food places, and the one problem with eating here is that the temperature regulation is really bad, so it can be hot in summer and really really really really really freezing in winter, which sounds weird in Houston, but they absolutely don't use heating so during the couple of months which Houston gets cold we have to completely avoid this place. The food spots in here aren't as good as the ones at 99 Ranch nearby, but they are a little bit better and have more variety than the ones at H Mart in Chinatown. The stores are comparable, but the Chinatown one might be a little bit bigger. For food this is definitely the better one. Neither one is particularly friendly and this one is a little bit less easy to access, and a little bit more claustrophobic in the parking lot. But it's definitely at least a four out of five despite the awful temperature issues. Also, did you know, Jesus H. Mart was a guy that founded a bunch of grocery stores which are now loved and followed religiously in NJ and other places. And you know what they say about shoppers here. The ramen selection is also impressive in a strip Centre on Westview and Blalock ample parking store is clean. I ventured after driving past sore er. UPDATE: It is a hassle to get a specific ingredient without the H Mart website telling you which aisle you can find the good in. For example, I wanted dried gosari to make a recipe called Yukgaejang, but I couldn't find it anywhere in the store. Because the website doesn't list aisle numbers for the item you look up, I have to guess where the item is. This isn't an issue with other grocery stores like HEB and Kroger. read more

I like coming here for grocery shopping, especially for high-quality produce and Asian products. Their seafood and meat quality is excellent, too. H-mart has two locations, the first one being in Spring Branch location, and the second in Bellaire (Chinatown). Everything in this store is of excellent quality. Also, inside the store are mini restaurants (right-hand side once you enter) where you can eat your food while taking a break from shopping or before you start shopping! There is a French-themed bakery called Tous La Jours--I know when I was in Seoul recently, I saw the same bakery as well (it might be a chain from Korea.) So whenever I'm back in Houston visiting my friends or just wanting to hang out in the city, I make it a habit to stop by here to do my essential Asian shopping and Korean staple lunch. H Mart is my go to Asian/Korean grocery mart. I do prefer coming here over 99 ranch because the vibes seem a bit more calm and parking is not much of a hassle. I do love coming to pick up the cooked or prepared foods. I always leave with kimbap, spam musubi, and some sort of new flavored ramens. They have at ton of ready to eat sashimi combination platters, loads of kimchi variety, and so many fun snacks you wouldn't find at your neighborhood H‑E‑B. If you're looking to pick up meats for a kbbq night or hotpot they've got you covered! I also love browsing the houseware section for cute pots, pans, affordable chefs knives and even house slippers. They have kids chopsticks, rice cookers, and tons more goodies. Inside the store is also a food court so if you get hungry before or after you shop you can grab a bite.
