You can smell pine everywhere here, since it makes up the walls, tables, floors, and ceilings.
    Rob P.

The first thing you notice are dollar bills taped to the ceiling, and what appears to be a small bar area with a few tables. The next thing you notice as you round the corner and see that there's much more of the restaurant, is the smell of pine. Every surface - walls, floor, and ceiling - is made of pristine planks of pine. I feel like I've been camping, and I found an amazing spot among the pines. I ordered a cup of clam chowder. $8 seems like a bit much for a small cup at first, until you take your first taste. There's so much savory clam coming through with every spoonful. I took my time finishing the cup. My wife ordered the salmon salad, which also seemed to have a smallish portion, but which made up for it with quality. That seems to be the theme here. I'm glad I had heard about this one before, otherwise I would never have thought to order the knuckle sandwich. It's nothing at all like what the name suggests (I.e. large amounts of ham and steak); it's actually lobster. No: actual lobster. Not that imposter they serve at some places. It's like a lobster roll on a buttery grilled cheese sandwich. I wanted the experience to last with this amazing sandwich. I can't wait until I get to enjoy another amazing meal with the smell of pine in the air.

2-two dinner; allowed to split between shrimp and grouper

What a delightful meal on a lovely and beautiful setting, on the porch-deck next to the river that runs through Rochester Park. Our servers were all friendly and attentive. The main server was helpful and gave good feedback on our choices. We were very pleased with our entrees which we shared. Flavorful and filling. The presentation was casual yet pleasing. I was happy to be able to split the tacos between shrimp and fish. So I didn't need to choose. The side slaw was wonderful. My husband enjoyed his pulled chicken which had lots of flavor but not too spicy. The tab was just under $40 with no alcohol; reasonable for this time. It's perfect with good weather when the patio is open. The ambience indoors looked fine though it seemed like it could be noisy. We look forward to our next visit

Food was so good! I Ordered the sliders (comes with home chips) and a side Grouper Blackened taco and it was simple and delicious. Service Awesome and fast very delightful server. And the atmosphere overlooking the creek in downtown Rochester packed lunch beautiful wood bar Tavern restaurant interior clean and easy to find parking on site. Highly recommend this for a great lunch and dinner or hang out. Ohhhh and dont forget about the large selection of Beer!!! Beer and beer!

I love the ambiance and vibe here. The service is friendly as well. The steak and mushroom skillet didn't have much steak in it but it was pretty good. The wings were served hot out of the fryer and very good. I thought the knuckle sandwich had a decent amount of lobster in it for $22. Good selection of beers as well

Met some friends up for dinner and sat on the back deck over looking the creek. It was such a nice view! We had great service and loved the seafood poutine. We also liked the oysters and poke tacos.

Janice, one of our favorite bartenders and servers, helped us tonight. The bar staff here is so friendly. Still my fav local Rochester bar. Parking lot. Beautiful patio on the creek. OG front section. Good selection of local beers and liquor. I hope they carry Detroit City Lady of House gin again. Was my fav and the only suburban bar that carries it. Vegomatic tacos are a great vegan choice. Plenty of meat and seafood options too.

Good food, good service. Good environment. You get the old "dive" bar up front and a bigger brighter dining area decorated with a hanging wood canoe and other boat house style decor in the back. Nicer weather allows for outside deck seating along the Paint Creek. Great venison chili. Quality oysters. Warmest room in the place is the bathroom.

Place has a good vibe. Also has a small bit of outdoor dining. Nice craft beer selection and full bar. I had the Fried Perch sandwich which I'm sure would've been tasty but the perch was overly fried and was more like perch jerky. Tator tots were seasoned and great. Service from the bar was adequate.

Sat outside on the deck by the river , great spot for a meal. Had the chicken sandwich and tots, very crispy thin chicken , just the way I like it. Had the peach sangria, great drink. Our server was friendly and attentive

We stopped in on a whim, having heard about this place for years and just leaving the park that it sits next to. It has a "bar" feel to it with lots of noisy chatting tables of patrons. Our server was Zoey and I really liked how personable she was. She was helpful in making menu selections and managed our expectations when hubby ordered the special Bloody Mary with food stacked on it (pictured). Drinks were excellent - Bloody Mary was not super spicy and the food on top was really good! I had the Michigan Cherry Lemonade and if you liked Shirley Temples when you were younger, you'll love this. You cannot tell it has liquor so beware! Hubby had the Irish Nachos - they are made with homemade potato chips with all the toppings. We could not finish it. I had the Cheeseburger sliders with Tater tots. Food was good - the choices we made were a little on the "bar food" side but that's okay. Nothing disappointed. If you like a casual place that's a little on the noisy side when it's full, this is your vibe.

I cannot say enough good words about this establishment. The bartenders are incredible and my favorite manager and server is Alexus is the best. I got the wrong side and she immediately took it back and brought me the correct side without any qualms. She also watched and taught my baby (that the bartender Janice delivered) sign language while I was using the rest room! She also taught him arithmetic!! He's so prepared for preschool now!!! Love everyone at this bar, it's my favorite place to be and raise my baby!

The outdoor seating along the creek was very nice. The table was dirty and so were the plates. The waitress didn't come to our table right away and only another table was outside at the time. We have never been there as we told her so we ordered the lunch special to start for us to share. Her expression on her face was rude. After the lunch special which was a hamburger, fries and miller beer, we ordered clam chowder and a couple different beers. The fries and clam chowder were delicious. The hamburger was good too. We were not asked how we wanted the burger cooked but it came out well, just the way we like it.

How are the bees? We used to come here as paint Creek tavern and the bees were horrible!

We ate here several times since the change in ownership and never noticed a bee. I never saw any before either though. The indoor and outdoor areas are very different than when it was PCT.

For my drink I had the Dragonberry Mojito and it was refreshing, but could've been a little stronger. My drink was a little sweet even after I had asked suggestions for something unsweet. The food was good , but the portion size is on the smaller side. Place felt a tad pricey as well.

The location at Second and Main Street with open air dining on this beautiful June day in Michigan was very inviting. I took a seat in the dining room and was quickly greeted by a friendly server (Gabbi). I ordered the Salmon Sandwich which included a Teriyaki glaze and Asian slaw with a side of sweet potato fries and a Labatt pilsner draft which was served quickly in a cold pint glass which was enjoyable on a warm afternoon. The sandwich is a little sticky to eat, so maybe not on a date night unless you really want to be stuck with the person you're accompanied by, but it was very tasty and I would order again. Another lady was kind enough to drop off a special sauce to complement the sweet potato fries that was delicious. It seemed was a combination of yogurt, cream cheese and cinnamon possibly. The restaurant was about 30% full on this day in the early afternoon which made for an enjoyable quiet stop. It really reminded me of being Up North in Michigan on this day as this experience included several families enjoying time together on a beautiful Michigan afternoon in a nice downtown.

It wasn't as strong as hers though. She ordered their Salmon Bowl which had both teriyaki and boom boom sauce; tasted good and was an ample size. My steak and frites came. The steak itself needed a little more seasoning and could have been larger but the truffle fries were top shelf. The chimichuri sauce was good too. The key lime pie for dessert presented well, but it packed the tartness one wants. There was too much whipped cream and not enough lime. That was the only real disappointment.
