I probably would go somewhere else if it wasn't for my stylist, Dillian. I've tried a number of salons in Charlottesville based off of various recommendations and he has given me the best cut so far. Everybody who works at Shear Power is extremely nice I do enjoy visiting. That being said, they will try to upsell you in every way possible, from deep conditons, to protein treatments, to eyebrow waxes to hair product. Just hold your ground and say no. I used to fall for it every time but ever since I was talked into getting a perm that I ended up hating, I've stopped falling for the upsells. Based on my concerns about the perm, they should have steered me away and into something else. I wanted a wave, not frizzy tight curls. They could have cared less, they just wanted the upsell. Btw - it's not my stylist that pushes product, it's everyone else. He stays out of it. Oh, I also wouldn't recommend getting your brows waxed there.

When I walked in, there was two ladies that I asked if I could do walk in appointment. I had to wait fifteen minutes and that was fine. When I sat in the chair, I wasn't asked what I wanted exactly. I always get a comb over fade with a hard part. The lady cutting my hair cut too much off the side and tried to save it after. She was really nice so it was hard to explain my disappointment. In the end I was able to style it like I wanted. I also got a beard trim but there was no clean shave at the end it was more of a machine trim and nothing else. Visit could have better here.

I scheduled a 10AM Saturday appointment for today. As of 10:15 the door remained locked, the lights off, and the phone number printed on the door was NOT ACCEPTING PHONE CALLS. I suspect permanent closure. I am certain I will not attempt to visit again. I would strongly recommend getting proof of continued business before anyone else should be foolhardy enough to attempt patronage.
