CALL THE STATE INSTEAD ! I was there often and witnessed so many incidents to my loved one and others that it made me sick to my stomach ! Dangerously short staffed on the weekends, patients reeking and in filthy clothes with feces under their finger nails. My loved one's finger nails were filled with dried feces. Broken wheel chairs and rundown equipment .CNA WITH 3 INCH FINGER NAILS TOUCHING PATIENT WITH OOZING BODY SORES IN THE DINING ROOM AND THEN GOING OVER TO A PATIENT AT THE SAME TABLE AND TOUCHING HER AND HER FOOD WITH OUT CLEANING HANDS. DISGUSTING ! PERFECT SITUATION FOR MRSA, STAPH OR A HOST OF OTHER DISEASES. Staff allowing catheter bags to get so full as to back up into patient. CNAs lying about giving baths. No air condition in the kitchen and kitchen staff wearing sleeveless shirts and sweating profusely ! Lying about giving patient medicine after running out of it days earlier. Diapers worn long enough for them to start shredding and stinking. This facility is so cheap that one day my loved one needed a catheter bag and there were NONE IN THE ENTIRE FACILITY !!!!! I had to remove my loved one before there was a disaster !! As a owner of several businesses in the past, I am taking time out from my current business to go on a mission and to the state. Recently senator Charles Schwertner (TEXAS-AUSTIN) introduced a bill that was recently just signed. The bill would allow the state to shut down any nursing home cited 3-4 times in a 24 month period for serious violations, like the ones above. You are the eyes and ears for your loved ones. If we allow these for profit nursing homes to continue with this horrendous care, we the BABY BOOMERS are headed on the path for horrible care. Only the private rooms in the Skilled Nursing Rehab side have their own full bathroom. The long term nursing facility side only has a toilet and sink. Things to note: The ice/water dispenser in one of the communal dining areas has black slime growing on the water nozzel and running down the rear splash guard. The tray below the dispenser is filthy and has slime in it. The coffee dispenser has had an "out of service" note on it for a while. I also observed a staff member telling a resident to "shut the f*** up". He had been sitting out on the hallway calling for someone to help him go back to his room, and a staff member came storming out of another room and told him to "shut the f*** up". The only saving grace is this place is new...but aside from that I haven't been impressed.

Staff seemed a little disorganized, but it's her second night here so will update after stay. Mom developed a bed sore a week in. Staff states it's a carpet burn from being pulled up in bed BS. Room isn't cleaned properly floor and bath flithy. Not sure about meals, mom has a feeding tube . Staff is nonchalant about patients they claim to care about or care for. Number of patients roam hallways or just sit around in wheelchairs. Mom moved which is great, looks can be deceiving. Staff hit/or miss some are warm and welcoming others are rude and condescending. I pray they don't have family members in this zoo. No communication among staff, and patients suffer the consequences. Staff very unprofessional stating my mom didn't have insurance. The insurance changed first of year because plan changed. They received Dec/Jan payment until she was placed back in hospital for pneumonia. But things happen for a reason and she is at a lovely well ran no demirts or fines faculty with people who care.

They told me nothing they do costs ANYTHING and it's TRUE. I'm very blessed.

To begin, their intake nurses are rough, belligerent and detached. The lady we got could care less about my mother, she just wanted to do the minimum and get out. Not a single commitment was upheld, not one. We called for support and help four times in the first week and the average time to hear back from someone was two hours, then another two hours for a nurse to arrive. So if you have an emergency, just call the ambulance and have the hospital take care of it, it's faster, and your loved one will suffer less. Now, as a result of me firing them, they became hostile, threatened to make me pay for equipment they left behind and failed to retrieve. They never took into consideration that my mom had died and their employees, having missed the appointment to pick up the equipment, lied and said a dead woman was preventing them from getting it. We choose to go with another company who was hands down better suited for caring for end of life patients. Houston Hospice is a money game, you are a dollar sign, if you are cool with that, then use them.

When my mother was discharged home, we were told her equipment would be delivered the day before discharge. That did not happen. We were also told a hospice nurse would be at the house waiting to assess her when she arrived home. That also did not happen. I had to call multiple times just to find out where the equipment was and when a nurse would arrive. We then learned she had not even been fully admitted yet. It took several days to sort everything out during a very stressful time. One nurse who came out did not appear to know how to use the oxygen equipment. A week into hospice care, we still had not seen a nurse aide and again had to call to ask what was going on. The organization has felt extremely disorganized from the start. Communication between admissions and the clinical team does not appear coordinated, and the promises made to our family were not followed through. Most concerning, the nurse assigned to care for my dying parent has spent significant time on her phone during visits rather than focused on patient care. This has been incredibly disappointing during one of the hardest times for our family. Families considering hospice should ask detailed questions and verify exactly what services will actually be provided and when.

The one time I had an emergency at 9 PM the on call nurse was not answering her phone. Voice mail was full. I ended up having to call my visiting nurse this lead to a poor relationship on going. For the new year I had to change to a Medicare Advantage plan and A-1 is out of Network so the have to discharge me as I can't afford to pay for visits I have no home health agency now I was told she was coming to discharge me but I received no wound care. It's a holiday. They did not help me find a new home health agency. I understand they are going out of business soon anyway. I can see why.
