I made a 4:25 appt. I was less than 5 mins late and they took a walk-in and refused to fit us in. They had 2 people in their shop and wouldn't even allow us to be walk-ins. Horrible experience! I've been notorious for bad haircuts and bad barbershop experiences because of my "Asian" hair. I get a fauxhawk with a 2 in the sides. I use to just let my hair grow out because I didn't want to pay for another disappointing haircut. This completely changed 4 years ago when Oz started cutting my hair. He takes time to ask what style you want, offers advice and his honest and professional opinions. I've never met a barber as genuine and caring through the years of conversation. Thank you Oz for taking care of me the last four years. You're awesome! Kubat as a whole is the professional, efficient and respectful. The place is clean and presentable. Oz always cut my hair but everyone else holds the same high standard. The appointments are about 40mins. If you have to wait a little, enjoy the comfy seats, big screen TV and coffee. They use the Vagaro app for appointments but will offer you an appointment if they have an opening. The app is easy to use, download, sign up, select a date/time, barber and what you want. Highly professional and friendly. The two barbers who were working when I was there took their time with their clients. They listened and offered suggestions and really had a good product at the end. Of the 4 people who had cuts before me, each one of them walked away satisfied with their cut. I was very happy with my skin fade and hard part with beard trim. My kids came back from two weeks with Grandmas in Florida and my 10 year old looked like a tanned, beach bum (thanks mom) So, we went to the new barber in St James, Peter's Barber shop. My little man still needs a booster seat. He sits down and gets a ROCKIN' haircut for school. The kid looks like a Sears model, my baby! Went here today for a haircut after searching for a barber. I booked a 10 am appt., eager to see if the high reviews were accurate. The shop looks professional, clean and has a big TV in the corner as well as several smaller screens in front of the barbers chair. The barber I had booked with, Oz, was running late. Not sure what happened. Soner apologized and directed me towards Omar, who was free at the time. I was a little upset by the delay, but it is more important that Soner tried to solve the problem . Omar recommend the haircut I should get after a brief discussion and I was extremely happy with the haircut. Most barber shops don't do appts, so you end up waiting unnecessarily. The appt process is easy and makes great use of your time. I plan on coming back to this barber shop! read more

I'm a big fan. The barbers here are really helpful and they are very generous. All appointments are made quick and easy; everything done on an app called Valgaro, and it is as simple as selecting your appointment slot and confirming it. They're skilled at their craft to say the least. They're precise and efficient. I highly recommend, and prices aren't overbearing. At $17, what more can you ask for? Found this place through Yelp, and on a whim decided to bring my 3 year old for his "big boy" haircut. The 2 men at the shop, Soner and Ahmet were very pleasant and professional. We barely had to wait, which is great when you are with a toddler. They cut his hair SO good, that when we got home, my husband went there and got HIS hair cut. So both the boys in my house have great hair, and we found their barber shop! Highly recommend this place. read more

Great barber shop!!!! Very clean and the staff there is really pleasant. I tried a couple of barbershops around the area and in Smithtown searching for a regular barber. Most of them didn't cut my hair the way I wanted it. Another shop I tried in Smithtown was way over priced!!! Kubat barber shop is the one I keep on coming back too, they do a great job cutting my hair and they take there time cutting your hair. I am a new customer at Kubat due to the fact my last barber moved away, and I absolutely love this place. When you are getting your haircut, you can tell they are putting lots of effort into the cut making sure it's perfect. I've gotten my hair cut by Omar a couple times now and I am very happy with his work he does. I like how they have appointments so you know when you arrive at your selected time, you don't have to wait. Also, the haircut only takes about 20 minutes which I think is perfect. This barbershop is by far one of the best ones near Stony Brook University. Although it's a bit pricier than in the city, they do a great job of making sure their customers are satisfied and are very meticulous in their work. I was skeptical at first since I don't normally trust barbers other than my go-to which is in the city. But I'm glad I came here today and will definitely visit again. I read the review from 2009 and figured I'd give this place a try. The woman who was cutting my son's hair at Supercuts (yay, Eva!) has relocated to Medford now that the Selden Supercuts has closed, and that's just too far. Anywho, we stopped by, no wait and Ahmet did a great job! Took his sweet time and gave my son a cut that made him look like a teenager instead of a scruffy kid. $14 is a long way from the $6 the 2009 reviewer posted, but certainly not unreasonable, especially considering how much time he took.
