I woke up one morning with an eye infection and immediately called the office. They were able to accommodate me that day and ultimately prescribed me some antibiotic drops. The visit with the initial optometrist told my wife the astigmatism was in the wrong eye. After complaints about headaches, blurry vision, and nausea- the staff was able to accommodate to an earlier appointment. After being seen the second time, Dr. Lam was able to confirm the correct eye with the astigmatism. She was great and we thought we would return. So today I wanted to call to help my wife place an order for contacts and was placed on hold for 20 minutes. Only for me to call back and person was able to assist me in 3 minutes. Poor customer service will not be returning. CORRECTION: what I thought was assist was incorrect. They left wifey a VM. Wife called back after not receiving the prescription to the email address I, myself, provided over the phone but when Tina answered the phone she was convinced it was sent to my email address when I didn't provide my name let alone my own email. Wifey called back again and that's when they told her the optometrist was finalizing the prescription and it will be sent once complete. 4 phone calls later we finally receive the email. The same email they use to confirm our appointments and send paperwork over to fill out before the visit . Front desk needs help. read more

This review has been long over due. In the past, I normally go to an optometrist nearby my house. This time around, I was referred by my good friend, Lanni and decided to give Dr. Jessica Huynh a try. Lanni raved so much about Dr. Jessica Huynh. My first impression of Jessica is that she is very knowledgeable, amazing and have a very good patient care manner. Her other Optometrist partner is also amazing. You can't go wrong with either. Both are very passionate about what they do & have a good sense of humor at the same time. I felt comfortable. I can not say anything bad about this place. I rarely write reviews on yelp, but this was a pretty bad experience. Do not schedule an eye exam here if you have any significant vision issues. I spent over 2 hours at Kubo; had my eyes examined 3 times and kept getting sent back to the machines to be retested. The optometrist's final diagnosis was that I have early onset cataracts in both eyes. She told me that my insurance wouldn't cover that since I'm only 51, and I would need to come up with @$4,000 per eye for the surgery, while asking if I was ready to schedule it that day. My answer was obviously, 'no.' She checked my prescription for glasses while asking me why I hadn't been more vigilant about taking care of my eyes. When I started getting emotional about the diagnosis, she asked, 'why are you crying?' No tissue was offered. I was then sent to the room of frames to order my glasses and was told someone would be coming to help me. After waiting 20 min, I gave up and left with only my prescription. Once I got home, I called my medical insurance company and found out that they DO cover cataract surgery. They also asked me about the diagnosis, but I was given nothing in writing from Kubo about the severity of my cataracts so I have no idea. I hope their optometrists work on their bedside manor, and the office/sales staff start treating patients like people. No, I would not recommend Kubo. read more

So ... I needed to get my glasses repaired. It was just a screw in the arm of the glasses. I was told they don't do repairs like that . Then they offered me new frames for 180 bucks ( cost 50 on Amazon) . Mind you that I originally paid 145 for the frames/ lens/ coating / exam at this office . Seems kinda funny . Mind you this same office also thought it would be a good idea to have me try on contacts when my eyes were dilated and couldn't see anything. Ended up getting glasses repaired at Individual Eyes by the Hyatt for 5 bucks . read more

Biggest reason I love this place is that my prescription has never been better. I have a unique prescription thats not easy. They have also remodeled everything and their new office is spacious with a great frame selection. They take so many insurances. All listed on their website. I have Molina and my appt was covered. I've worn glasses all my life and have never kept an optometrist for more then two years. I've stayed with Kubo for the last 5+ years because Jessica (Dr. Huynh) is extremely attentive to my issues. I suffer from many eye problems outside of just vision problems. Jessica reaches out to me throughout the year when there's new technology that she believes would help and would like for me to try. I never leave my annual visit without being given 100 new products to try as well. I have an assigned ophthalmologist that I should be going to but I feel like Jessica gives me better and continuous attention and recommendations that my doctors lack. There were even previous exams where she recommended prescribed medication and when I presented the information to my doctors, they easily prescribed them with no hesitation. I've been coming here for over 20 years when Dr. Kubo was still practicing. There has been a lot of changes since then. I usually visit once a year for my annual exam and for the past 3 years there has been irritating errors here and there that I was willing to overlooked. There is A LOT of interns that work there that aren't knowledgeable about the products. I recently purchased premium lenses and what I received was NOT premium lenses they denied the error but after persistence they agreed it was there error not filling the forms out right. They sent my lenses back for replacement on 3 different occasions and still came back with the wrong lenses due to their error. Accuracy has definitely went downhill and customer service with it. read more

I have been seeing Dr Jessica Huynh for the past two years and have never been more satisfied. Recently, I had an emergency eye situation and called Jessica right away. Explained to her what was going on. I was on the road and couldn't drive to come see her right away but we were able to communicate via video messaging. She knew exactly what it was and called in a prescription immediately to the nearest Walmart in San Jose for me as I was en route to San Jose. I used the prescription drops and the next day, my eyes were back to normal! I had a panic attack moment and Jessica reassured me it was ok. I recently did my annual check up and the staff at Kubo optometry are super friendly and welcoming. I couldn't pick a pair of glasses because my eyes were dilated but will be back to purchase new glasses! I also purchased a pair of Tom Ford sunglasses and Jessica told me they carry Tom Ford in "asian fit". I was thrilled and they fit amazingly better than the regular ones. I've been meaning to write a review for awhile now since going to Dr. Huynh for the past 2 years even though I live in the Bay Area. It was easy to get an appointment. The staff are very friendly and helpful from the time you arrive till the end. Dr. Huynh makes you feel comfortable while being efficient during the examination. I tend to book my visit with friends that have appointments with Dr. Huynh as well. While I wait for my turn, we have the opportunity to look and try on the frames from the vast selections they have. I must say the frame selections is AMAZING! I always have a hard time determining which one I want to purchase, so I tend to walk out with two frames (blue light glasses and sunglasses) and keep my 3rd frame selection on file to purchase at a different time. Whenever I'm ready for the 3rd frame, I would just call in or contact Dr. Huynh and they get everything situated for me. Well first let me be honest and say I know the doctor before she opened the store. It's one thing to go and show support the first time for any local business, friend or not. But it's all the other things that keeps a person or family and other friends coming back. My lens popped out because I mishandled or neglected my prescription sunglasses I purchased 1 year ago. Dropped in from vacation and she took care of it immediately, Just yesterday, I lost my eyeglasses, and as a driver, that was gonna be a huge problem!!!! Well I trusted her enough to have her staff send me 3 selections via pic message, Had them ordered, rushed, and on it's way by friday. 3 day turn!!!! Every time I need to schedule an appointment, Dr. Huynh has always managed to work around my busy schedule. Being a mommy of 2 little ones can make it hard for me to come in for my annual eye exam, if you know what I mean! I was just in the office last week going on my fourth year seeing her for my vision and it's been a pleasure and great experience coming here! Dr. Huynh is always attentive and the staff and customer service is superb! She takes great care of you and is very thorough with the examination and any questions you may have. Not only is this a great place to go for all your vision needs, but she has a great selection of frames and sunglasses including many name brand frames!
