Dr. Vang is AWESOME! She's patient, professional and friendly! She's also very gentle and my girls are not afraid of specific machines used to check their eyes. The office is super clean and very modern and you will feel at ease coming here as friendly staff greets you as you enter the office. I have been coming to see Dr. Vang since she opened and I will continue to come see her. Make sure to call in advance as appointments may fill up quickly, I usually prefer going on a Monday since that is the day the office closes at 6pm. read more

Had a general eye exam/eyeglass prescription update. Whole appointment lasted for about 15 min. Very efficient.....perhaps too efficient. Although Dr. Vang was really nice, she was going beat-by-beat on the exam with no stops. I was expecting the dreadful pressurized-air-bursts-straight-into-eye part (the one that tests for eye pressure) but instead she used a small handheld contraption for it. Super curious about it, I asked her what it does/how does it work, but she pretty much glossed over it and continued with the exam. If you want a quick yet thorough, no-fuss eye exam then go here. Otherwise, if you want to sit down and comfortably talk to an optometrist about any eye concerns, then this might not be the place for it. read more

I have been going to Eye Exam of California (Lens Crafters) for many years but they have gotten pretty expensive and were closed during the current pandemic. My friend recommended this place as she received excellent services from here. I visited their website and saw a notice on their front page stated that they were opened. I requested for an appointment online. It was a very quick and easy process. I got a response in a timely manner and got my appointment set up. On the day of the appointment, I got there a little early. Due to the current situation and for safety reasons, the office requires all patients to call their office to check in once arrived. The front desk staff was very nice and friendly. I believed her name is Sarah. She came out to grab my ID and forms that I filled out in advance (you can print out the forms online or they can give you forms to fill out when you get there). She told me to wait in my car and she will give me a call when Dr. Vang is ready for me. Within few minutes, she called me. I walked into their office. The place is small but it's very clean. They have many selections of frames to choose from and are nicely organized. Dr. Vang came out and greeted me with a warm smile. She walked me to the back to start my exam. The whole exam process was very pleasant. I got exam for both glasses and contact lenses. Dr. Vang made sure I feel comfortable and have all my questions answered. She took the time to listen to my concerns. She's very professional and so easy to talk to. Once my exam was done, she walked me back to the front so that Sarah can finish with my insurance stuff and to order contacts if I wanted to. I told Sarah I will hold off on ordering contacts as my prescription has changed a bit. I wanted to make sure I can see ok with the new prescription. She told me that I can take my time and to call the office when I'm ready to order. Couple weeks later, I called their office to order a year supply. I spoke with Gao this time. Gao is very nice and friendly as well. She helped me order my contacts through the phone so that I don't have to make a trip to their office. She told me about the rebate program. She sent the rebate forms and receipt to my email. The whole process was fast and easy. Very convenient as well. Dr. Vang and her staffs are all very professional, nice and friendly. I'm so glad to have given them a try. I can see clear now! Don't forget to wear a mask before entering their office! read more

Found this hidden gem on Yelp when I was looking optometrists around my area. I was calling around asking for the price of contact lens fittings and to my surprise, Vang Optometry accepts MediCal AND they gave me a fairly reasonable estimate for contact lens fitting. I decided to schedule my mom and I for the following day, which they were able to accommodate. Vang Optometry is in the same plaza as Asian Pearl--right across from a play structure in the middle of the parking lot. Once we walked in, we were immediately greeted and realized how clean it was. We filled out some paperwork and provided our IDs and insurance cards, then was led into the examination room. Paula, the optometrist, took her time examining both our eyes, which we felt very grateful for because usually optometrists are just in and out with their patients. After the examination, we were given lenses and frames choices, which was all clarified by Sarah and Gao. After about 30 minutes, my mom finally picked out what type of lenses and frames she wanted. The price was very reasonable, considering we were paying out of pocket. Nonetheless, throughout the whole process, we weren't rushed in any way, rather, we were helped in so many ways by Paula, Gao, and Sarah. I went to this Optometry because I wanted to support Hmong businesses. I purchased a pair of glasses and sunglasses. I came back the next day in hopes to do an exchange. I spoke with Mariam, the manager, and she was rude. This store has a final sale policy apparently even though the salesclerk did not verbally state it during my check out. This "FINAL SALE POILICY" is not posted anywhere in the store nor is it on my receipt. Usually, optometry offices will have a 14 or 30-day return policy. After making my points, Mariam rudely said she will give me a return, but they will not do business with me. I was totally ok with that given the POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE and UNETHICAL business procedures. I canceled my prescription glasses and got my full refund. I should have not given them the benefit of doubt when the clerk did not initially give me my line item receipt when I made my purchase. read more

First time here and I was able to get an appointment a week after I called which is a lot faster than the place I usually go to. They were booked out until February and it was only October when I called. Anyways, the optometrist is taking all COVID-19 precautions and are only letting patients in one at a time & The doors are kept locked. The ladies there are very friendly and nice. The doctor was a sweetheart and very informative. She's been open for almost 3 years now. All her equipment are high tech and up to date. I love that they gave me a copy of my prescription. The other place I went to didn't like it when I asked for a copy & Since they were way overpriced I like to go to Costco to get my glasses and contact lens. She did a bunch of exams on me that I've never experienced before. My son has sensory issues and super sensitive about meeting strangers and he was super comfortable and wasn't nervous or scared at all. This office is located in the same shopping center as Vampire Penguin. It's towards the back right across from the playground by a school. I came here a few days ago for an appointment and had a great experience! I found this place through my list of covered providers, made an appointment and was able to be seen the next day. The turn around time for my glasses was also surprisingly fast. The optometrist, Dr. Vang is very knowledgeable and answered all questions/concerns I had with professionalism. My 1 y/o daughter also was seen here and Dr. Vang made sure to make her feel comfortable. She's great with kids because she is super sweet and warm. A little disappointed, came here and spent nearly $1000 on contacts for myself and my niece out of pocket not including insurance...which wouldn't have been a big deal because we did get year supply for us both and that includes examination. However, I was advised I would be spending less because of a rebate for the year supply of contacts of $200, come to find out it expired. Ok that's fine... Then I was given another rebate for $100 for the year supply... submitted all my documents and it was denied. I called the manufacturer to find out what I did wrong, only to find out per the rebate - the colored contacts DO NOT qualify for the rebate... I would think this is information the office staff should know and advise us as patients. I feel a little cheated... I don't know if it was due to carelessness of the staff or if this was just a way to get you into spending more money for sales. Extremely disappointed. Don't get me wrong they were extremely nice and professional, we really liked the doctor, she was very knowledgeable, kind and patient with us. *********UPDATE ********* I received a phone call from the office staff who was able to help me get my rebate. She explained to me that the manufacturers change their guideline constantly and sometimes it's hard to keep track of what's going on with these suppliers, which I can completely understand. I work in health insurance and policies are constantly changing.. I was really happy with their service in reaching out to me and doing what they could to help get my rebate, which wasn't much but it was the courtesy and professionalism of the staff that would make me come back and highly recommend their service to all of my friends and family! read more

I have only been to an eye doctor for myself once before coming here but I have been multiple times with family members to different eye doctors and comparing Vang Family Optometry to all the other offices I have attended , they were by far the best I have ever seen from the beginning till the end from greeting me till the time I left the receptionist were really really nice and the ma'am that helped me with the selection off glasses was very nice and was very patient with me, she also helped me in telling me which ones looked better in appearance and helped me to understand what was covered by my insurance. Dr. Vang was so awesome I was always hectic about seeing an eye doctor but she did a marvelous job she was super nice and very knowledgeable she talks to you with the medical terms but also breaks them down so you can understand.
