my friend and i shared a few dishes at kubri and wow, the lebanese flavors were great! we arrived without reservations and were luckily sat at the bar where we could watch the chefs prepare dishes. we started with ordering 2 dishes and the waiter kind of pressured us into ordering more right away, but otherwise the service was good.
each dish has a lot of complex flavors that compliment each other and the presentation is very thoughtful and nice.
// chou hispi (13 euros) //
this was by far my favorite dish and the star of the night. it was a cabbage "steak" charred with oil and butter, then had peanuts, pickled apricots, and shanklish which is a sheep/cow milk that tasted a bit like goat cheese. there were so many flavors going on that really complimented each other.
// shimeji hummus (13 euros) //
the employees recommended the hummus. this one came with roasted mushrooms, confit garlic, poached egg, and pita bread. it was also quite nice with the mushrooms and egg.
// halloumi kataif (9 euros) //
we ordered this since we saw a lot of others eating it. it is a fried halloumi stick coated in fried vermicelli noodles, chili honey, and dukkah. it was good, but tasted like an elevated mozerella stick. i could have probably gone without this dish.
// osmallié (9 euros) //
all the desserts sounded great, but we decided on this as it sounded the most unique. it had the same fried vermicelli noodles with a thick clotted cream, poached pear, and honey. it was nice and light, but the vermicelli noodles was not my favorite part. again, i could have probably gone without this dish. read more
