Probably bc he's dealing with all kinds of cray cray on a daily basis. The real reason I give Dr. Rooney five stars is because of the wonders that occurred while under his care. Although I only saw Dr. Rooney a handful of times, the treatment we did worked wonders. I suffered a head trauma resulting from some major wrong place, wrong time sh*t going down while I was out one night and it rendered me with severe social anxiety. When Dr. Rooney first suggested that I had PTSD, I thought HE was crazy. I figured the disorder was reserved for people that had suffered immensely such as abuse victims or soldiers. He explained that trauma affects everyone differently, and that I shouldn't downplay the way in which my trauma was affecting me. I agreed to do some treatment where you talk about the trauma, Dr. Rooney leads you through it, and at the same time you hold onto some type of vibrating device that does something weird to trick your brain. I thought this way total psycho babble BS despite the fact that I've taken several college courses on the subject of psychology but I figured it was worth a shot. I'm so glad I was open to the process because it really did help a lot. Over a few visits, I felt more calm physically when processing the situation. I'd definitely recommend seeing Dr. Rooney to anyone that's had a traumatic occurrence that continues to affect you in some way.

I talked to Kelly when I made the appointment and thought she was very nice and was looking forward to meeting her. We got there 15 minutes early and the door to her suite was locked with no note or anything say she was in session or would be back shortly so we waited awhile and then I called her and left a message telling her that we were there and waiting. We waited another 15 minutes and I called her again but never heard back so we finally left and never got a call. That night after I took my sister home I called Kelly again and said that I hoped that she was okay and that I was upset about her not being there and I have never heard back from her.

I'm not bitter I just want others to be informed that something is going on behind the vail. She called me nefarious. (Evil). That is not healthy or professional. We never even got to EMDR - I very reason I came in to see her. She badmouthed other therapist and it just didn't sit well with me. I'm now with a great therapist and working on healing.

He has Autism, Epilepsy and Schizophrenia. Once our son discharged from that facility we followed Sean when he opened his business. He continued to be our son's therapist for a few years. When it came time for me to need a therapist, Sean took me on as his client. I was so thankful as I knew I was about to enter one of the most painful and trying times of my entire life. With Sean knowing me and my family personally, I was already comfortable with him and also had gained that therapeutic relationship with him. Now we could build on that. I was correct about this season in my life being the roughest, most painful and trying times I have ever faced. Sean has been a constant and consistent person in my life. Before writing this review, I did speak with the Co-Director of the office to share my feedback but…read moreI do want to publicly share our experience as well for those who may be considering this as an option for Couples Therapy. This was our first experience in couples therapy. We did not have any other experiences with which to gauge the content or experience. After 15+ months, we had a total of 67 sessions - of which only 10 sessions (or 15%) were couples sessions that included both my husband and I. This means the remaining 85% were individual sessions. This to us really undermines the name "The Couples Clinic". We also felt this really slowed and deterred our progress and prevented us from working together as a couple under the guidance and leadership of someone who could coach us in the moment. At times, we did feel as though our insurance was being abused because couples visits are charged together as 1 visit (including both individuals) while individual visits are then each charged separately to both partners. An individual visit is charged at the same cost as a couples visit with both partners. Overall, we did experience a decrease in the overall level of distress in our relationship and we enjoyed the pleasant, approachable nature of our therapist. We were able to make some headway, albeit slowly. The Co-Director of the clinic was very responsive to our feedback and we felt a level of confidence that this would be addressed and taken into consideration moving forward. He expressed that the normal split is around 50/50 with couples vs. individual sessions and acknowledged that our sessions did fall short of that and vowed to take a closer look at this. Even a 50/50 split varies starkly to other treatment approaches by other therapists/therapy methods. We are now currently working with an experienced Gottman Therapist that works more intensively with couples and only has individual sessions where absolutely necessary. I would encourage couples to discuss the pros and cons of the various therapy approaches to select a style that suits expectations and needs.
