I was deeply impressed with the quality of both services AND with the kindness and respect I was shown. It really takes a special person (and I do mean that) to deal with other people's waste, and to do it because they love helping people. I really got the impression that this was the case, here at From Scratch. The business itself, as well as the office within (St. Charles location) was a little bit tricky to find. Fortunately it's located in a large old, converted school building, so when you've initially figured out what to look for and where the building is located and what entrance to go in, you won't forget. There is signage from the street and upon entry, and while there are two parking lots for this building and multiple doors, it's very clear which one you should enter for this business. The only downside I can think of is that the office is up several large (and cool looking!) sets of stairs. While my body does not always take kindly to stairs, I am able to navigate them if need be, but some folks can't. Perhaps there is an elevator that I am unaware of. I have only been there once (so far--my next appointment is on the books!). But if you're like me and at least able to grumble and bitch and moan your way up some stairs , you really shouldn't let this stop you! For those concerned about access to the...er...facilities, you needn't worry! There is a very private bathroom area through the colon hydrotherapy room and around the corner. You may not believe me, but my colonic really was painless. You will be walked through the process thoroughly and made to feel quite comfortable throughout the experience. I was impressed by how much the manual lymph drainage helped me too. If you, like I, suffer from a host of inflammatory and autoimmune health issues, you may well benefit from a visit to From Scratch Wellness. I left her yet another voice mail (she's never actually answered the phone, just returns calls) that I would not be coming and understood if she would not honor the voucher I'd purchased, although I would love it if she would seeing as how I was a little stressed out and could definitely have used it! There were people cleaning it when I got there. It wasnt super relaxing because I could hear everything because there was just those bay-like doors to close off the studio from everything outside. Marla-although super nice. I have a major pet peeve when it comes to time. My apptmt was for 1015AM. I received a call from her at about 955AM saying she was running late because of construction. Said she would be there right around 1015. Well, Marla didnt roll up until 1030. Then I felt like everything was rushed, etc. Also, she had an apptmt after me so she shorted me 15 mins. However, she did say she would give me a free 15 mins next time. I just expect people to be there at least 15 mins before my apptmt. Not running 15 mins late. HUGE PET PEEVE! Also, the studio is pretty simple. I just laid on the table with my clothes on. It wasnt very dark either. I didnt mind though, but if you are looking for amazing ambiance-THIS IS NOT THE PLACE for you! The actual massage was really fantastic. Hard pressure in all of the right places. The only thing was, I wished I would have gotten my full time, the first time! Also, Marla gave me some great tips for re-energizing myself throughout the day. I really appreciated that. I…read morewould like to say that I enjoyed my time at Synergy, but due to location (I live in Lisle), I spend more time in my car driving to workout than I spend actually working out. It was fine to switch things up with my current routine and I didn't mind the commute to both the Aurora and St. Charles locations as I knew it would be temporary. I did most of my classes at the Aurora location, but a few in St Charles. The St. Charles location is way bigger, so lots of room to spread out for the circuit. I was hating on this place after my first class - you get your first class for free, and it had nothing to do with the coach, or the place itself, it was me. I get frustrated easily but I told myself to keep going, and as all things do, it will get better with time, and it did. It took about 5 or 6 classes to REALLY get into the 'swing' of things, along with the beginner workshop that was offered to me. It's a shame that I'm finally getting used to it and enjoying it, and my living social deal is about to end. As any group fitness class goes...you will love some of the instructors, and you will hate on some. This goes for school as well, but similar situation in a group fitness class. Among my favorites at this location are Michelle and Heather. They are awesome!!! They provide all kinds of guidance, correct your form, give suggestions, and just overall motivating. They are both assets to this place. I took Heather's classes on Wednesdays in Aurora but this is mainly the location she works at. Michelle conducted the beginner's workshop, and I took her class on a Saturday. While I was impressed by most of the coaches here, I was not impressed by all and I'm sure members feel the same. This is why classes are offered 6 days a week at different times. This is a place to try out - the workout itself is ALWAYS changing, you will never be bored. It IS challenging and you will challenge yourself and feel great afterward.
