This one of those "If I could give more than 5 stars I would" type of reviews. After 1 class at Kula I was hooked and I'll tell you why: This is truly an atmosphere dedicated to growth, acceptance, and kindness. The instructors are inviting and truly take the time to get to know you. They make you feel seen by taking the initiative to remember your name and have conversations with you not only about your practice but your life outside of yoga as well. I've taken classes with Megan, Danea, Byron, Lyric, and Chelsea and I truly look forward to seeing them when I walk in. The Vinyasa classes are my go to for a great workout. The Buti classes are fun and so unique. The candlelit classes provide such a cool atmosphere. Yoga Nidra is a truly out of body meditative experience. They also have workshops throughout the month which aren't included in a monthly membership but with the membership you do get a discount on these! I would love to try the sound bath one day but they are always booked up so quickly. Which must be an indicator that these are phenomenal. I started off with the New Student Special: 30 Days for $35 and went almost every day. This is a great deal if you want to try Kula out first. I now have the monthly membership which comes with some really cool perks like 15% off floats at phlot GR and a once a month guest pass to bring a friend for a class. Maybe one day i'll get my boyfriend to try it out! If you have questions about the membership options the website is helpful and all the instructors are super happy to answer any of those questions. I know I get nervous about going to places for the first time but those nerves were quickly settled once I entered Kula. The instructor checking you in will let you know everything you need to know before heading up. So take that leap of faith and try something new. Amazing candlelight yin session! I'm always intimidated by trying new yoga studios, but I'll be making this one my home.

This was my first class at Kula Yoga. The studio was warm + well decorated. $14 for a drop in + $2 for mat rental. The building is cramped and requires some shimmying around others. Studio itself is spacious. Unfortunately, my class left much to be desired, never truly been a fan of the 45 minute class (however I signed up knowing this). Class felt formulaic, rigid and almost scripted. There was not on emphasis on moving in a way that supports each individuals body and it was more of a one size fits all approach, that didn't work for me. Bummer! read more

Kula Yoga had quickly become my favorite place to be. Whether it's reading a book in the back garden before class starts or chatting with the instructors, I always feel welcome! kula has many options for class times and type; buti yoga, slow flow, outdoor, yin and restore, sound baths and more. outdoor flows with the headphones allow you to really tune in to the flow and nature. i can't say enough positive things about this studio and each instructor, hoping one day to participate in the teacher training thanks kula read more

Wow - what a beautiful and zen full place. I am a sucker for exposed brick so my heart started to flutter immediately. Upon opening the door to the business you walk through curtains - a feeling came over me like I was the star of the show about to walk on stage. Greeted by a welcoming smile and hello, you check in for class. The space is pretty long, after taking off your shoes, make your way to the back of the space where you can put your things in cubbies. In the back, your will also find a beautiful comfy set up of chairs, a couch, pillows and rugs to just sit back and make yourself comfortable with some coloring or just relax or chat with friends. There is a kitchen off to the side too, where you can make yourself some tea. Such a wonderful relaxing idea to have some tea after you finish class and be able to sit for a few minutes before rushing back out the door. So far, I have only taken classes with the owner and she is a delight. She has a wonderful voice to guide you through your practice and does a great job at giving you cues ahead of time. I really appreciate that I cannot predict which move she is going to flow into next. Truly, this is such a blessing. I have also done poses with her that I have never been guided into before (and I have been doing yoga for over 10 years!) Thank you at the very least for this! The space is beautiful, the classes are amazing and you are going to love it! Also, she does workshops - this past weekend I went to Malas and Mimosa's - such a great idea. It was fun learning about a Mala and creating one myself! Just don't park in the back parking lot. It isn't recommended. There is plently of street parking and lots very near by! read more

Kula is my favorite studio ever. The monthly membership is truly the best deal in town - not just because the financial investment is a good deal, but because the instructors here are stellar and so kind. They are passionate about yoga, highly knowledgeable, and make it a welcome experience for all in a beautiful space. The studio also has a vested interest in community building which includes social justice and being inclusive. It's an amazing place, the owner, Megan, has cultivated an exceptional environment. Don't let one bad apple who didn't read the fine print dissuade you from walking through the door - you absolutely won't regret it!! read more

Apparently I started this review well over a year ago and just never finished it? Sorry, Kula! I was just thinking about Kula Yoga last week when I took a yoga class during a business trip. The class was just ok, and I found myself missing my classes at Kula more and more. Classes at Kula are challenging, with creative and innovative sequences that certainly awaken your mind and your core. There's also a wonderful spirit at Kula, embodied by both the staff and your fellow yogis. Kula will welcome you in, and you won't be disappointed. read more

What a calming, peaceful place. I arrived on a rainy, windy Sunday morning and was greeted by the owner and that day's instructor, Megan. It was airy and beautiful, warm in all aspects of the world, and it smelled wonderful. Tip: you enter through the BACK of the building rather than on Division. I parked on Commerce and just walked up through the parking lot. Megan showed me around to the kitchen, where there's tea when it's chilly or cucumber water when it's not, a comfy lounge for chilling out before or after class, and a well-stocked room with blocks, blankets, straps, etc. I am not used to public classes and my skills are lacking in some poses more than others, but Megan was patient and helpful, with great verbal cues and tips throughout. I took a one-hour Vinyasa that challenged me and made me sweat but wasn't discouraging or impossible. Megan obviously knows her stuff and has a passion for helping others. She even gave me recommendations of instructors online to supplement my home practice, which I thought was super decent and totally unnecessary. I felt comfortable during the class and great afterwards. I will definitely be back! read more

I'm not crazy about hot yoga because I hate feeling like I jumped into a pool when I'm done, so I was really happy to find a place that doesn't do hot yoga. Kula is affordable and has lots of time slots yay. Plus, Megan is a really good teacher and I love her scented oils at the end of class! read more

I'm updating my previous review only to state that Kula recently moved to the Wealthy Street district: they are now located next to Jonny B's hotdogs, and across from Elk Brewing, next to the small city parking lot. The new studio has more space (there are two upstairs practice rooms now), and the first floor offers spa services. The entry way is warm and inviting with perfumes and lotions and bath bombs for sale. The practice style of Kula hasn't changed a bit though, so with this new location and expanded offerings, this change is a win! read more

Their outdoor yoga is so relaxing yet challenging. I wasn't expecting such a workout but I loved it.

Great place. Megan's classes tend to be more advanced/challenging, if that's what you're looking for-- I mostly prefer the other teachers' classes as my body is still acclimating to the practice. Everyone is friendly and welcoming and the sign-up process is straightforward. They also have other workshops on sound baths etc, I just did a workshop on myofascial release that was great. read more

What an absolute amazing experience. Megan is gentle, knowledgeable, centered and has a glowing energy about her that brings a lot of peace to one's practice. My mom and I did a private practice with her and she was wonderful. She gave my mom, whom has a lot of back and sciatic issues, so many modifications. She was in constant communication as far as assists and touch. She really allowed us to relax and feel the benefit of yoga and the Yin side of practice. We left feeling loved, restored, rejuvenated and with a high energy that caffeine can't even give you! Thank you Megan. Thank you for your beautiful space and creating space within us.
