Opening a few weeks ago, Kume Hibachi & Wings is just North of Nolensville at 6917 Lenox Village, Nashville. The place is an open concept, bright, a lot of windows, outdoor seating, and comfortable. You order at the counter, take your number back to your table and they bring your food when it is ready. I got to meet Helen at the counter who took great care of me and got my order all set up. The owner's Ben and Queena are wonderful people. For appetizers I had the Plum Fries. These are a special item Ben created with a twist. Sweet potato fries with a homemade seasoning giving them a sweet & cinnamon(y) flavor. They are crispy and the seasonings does not mask the sweet potato flavors...a really good combination. I'm not a fan of standard sweet potato fries, but I really loved these. I also sampled the Kume Signature Wings. You could see Ben's face light up while he was telling me about his signature chicken wing sauce. The glaze and flavors are his creation...sticky sweet with a very light amount of heat on the back-end. I couldn't stop tasting the sauce with my finger...it is addicting. The wings were fried just right...crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. Instead of the chicken being overpowered by the glaze, the combination allowed you to enjoy the flavor of the chicken along with the glaze. A very nice combination and while the wings were small in size, they were HUGE in flavor! Note...these wings are not the norm they serve, they are having issues getting the larger wings they normally use due to the upcoming Super Bowl. For dinner went with the Chicken & Steak Teriyaki dish. Ben created his own Teriyaki sauce and it shows...it really stands out and makes the dish a step above what I've enjoyed elsewhere. The sauce is not overly sweet and allows the flavors of the veggies or meats to come through. The veggies were nicely al dente, the steak tender and cooked to order, and the chicken not overly cooked. The rice was a complement to the meal with a light flavor and a perfect texture. Overall this is a seriously good Teriyaki dish and I'm already thinking of trying a seafood version next time. Great people and delicious food...what a great combination!!!

The food is great, portions are huge and it's in a great location! The service is fast and everyone in there is super nice and welcoming. I went during lunch time and it wasn't hectic or too crowded.

Great food and service. Every time I've been which is about 3 times it's been great. More affordable and economical in comparison to competitors

Affordable pricing, great food, accessible parking - what more can you ask for ? Service was great! There is a surcharge for credit card, I'd recommend they embed that in the price so we aren't even aware .

My fav place for wings. They are fried to perfection and so juicy inside. The Kume signature flavor is a must! Perfectly sweet and sticky 10/10! The owners are incredible, always making sure everything is to our liking! Please show this locally owned small business some love. You will not regret it

I love the hibachi here. The portions are huge for the price, one meal could be split between two people. Inside was very tidy and clean, with cutlery, tissues, and many bottles of dipping sauces like yum yum, bbq, and buffalo at the front counter. They mainly sell hibachi but also have wings, fried appetizers, fried rice, stir fried noodles. The owners were super kind and you can tell they're working hard to provide great service. This is my second time coming and it will not be the last!

This was my first time here, but it won't be my last. The staff was so friendly and the food was delicious! Not pictured is my egg roll, which was also very tasty. There was so much food that I have another meal leftover.

Sweet potato fries were soggy. Wings were not crispy either. Rest of order was ok but nothing special. Not planning on reordering.

It's my last night in Nashville so I want to go to a bang zoom restaurant. A few of my co workers have said to me: Mr Bill, we see every night you're going out to some amazing spots. Mind if we tag along? Sure, the rules are to keep your fork outta my plate when we sit down. Deal? The restaurant is very large, we're shown to our table. Set in the middle of the dining room and facing the bar. The bar can seat at least 25 people, the restaurant is set up for fun. To get our party started, I ordered a well crafted cocktail: Tea'd Up Old Fashioned Made with Bourbon, Black Tea and House Barrel Aged Bitters. Funky?? Oh yeah I'm with a bunch of Military Veterans and they're telling me their crazy stories. I'm sippin' my Old Fashioned and taking it all in, we need to bond over drinks and crazy things we all drank overseas. As an adult, I can appreciate my Nashville TN Old Fashioned with Black Tea. While we're talking, our waitress drops off a plate of homemade biscuits. The biscuits are fire! Buttery, flakey and moist, The Southern Steak & Oyster can make a damn good biscuit. Next, my Gumbo comes to me. The first taste I can tell this is a chef'd up dish. Better than anything I had in New Orleans. This gumbo is filled with Andouille, Crawfish, Shrimp and Fried Okra. Very flavorful indeed. My last entree in Nashville will be Fish 'N Grits. Fresh fish topped with Spicy Tasso Ham over Sweet Potato Grits and Bacon Braised Cabbage. This is a flavorful dish, the grits are very creamy and the cook on the fish was spot on. We had a great night at The Southern Steak & Oyster, it was a pleasure to dine at your restaurant.

On one visit with only a few of us there our bartender disappeared for a good 20 minutes. Upon his return he was focused on everything but the 5 of us in the place until we finally had to ask to get service. The other visit everyone helped me but the actual server. Maybe this is a staffing problem, I don't know but being stuck for 20 minutes to order another drink with my meal is not acceptable. Although they had that check in my hand in under a minute and in under another minute to process. Again, super nicer people, but kind of oblivious. 2) Now let's talk about the kitchen. And I'm adding some input from the other diners because we all sat there waiting. - flavors are great, but the salt and spice level is overboard. I had the mushroom appetizer and nearly choked/coughed to death. I like heat but this was raw spice that overpowered the dish. And the salt about made my feet swell into balloons. Such a shame because the idea is great just poor execution - deviled eggs. Pass - BBQ Shrimp, sort of like the mushrooms right profile but overpowering - gumbo. Two other people had the gumbo and when I asked they said that too is just over spiced I want to like this place, but probably my last visit unless I just come for oysters. Sorry

It was our first time visiting, and we weren't sure where to go. The security guard at the main door was very helpful and pointed us in the right direction. However, when we got upstairs, it was a different story. There was no one there to give us any direction, and we didn't see a sign stating whether we could seat ourselves. The place was a bit busy, but there was a section with about six empty tables. We chose to sit there so we could be near the fan since it was very humid yesterday. No one acknowledged that we had been seated, so when a waiter walked by to clear a table, I asked if it was okay for us to seat ourselves. He said yes, handed us menus, and walked away. No problem--I could tell it was busy and that he was running around, so I took no offense to him walking off. We waited about 10-15 minutes. No one offered us water or came over to greet us. The same waiter I had spoken to returned to our table carrying an empty pitcher, and I greeted him. In response, I got, "You know what you want?" I repeated my greeting, and he repeated his question. Mind you, he never introduced himself, so I have no clue what his name is. The only conversation we had before that was when he confirmed that we could seat ourselves. While I understand being overwhelmed or tired, I can't understand being met with such a rude disposition when I had done nothing to warrant that response. Needless to say, I didn't want someone who found greeting me to be an impossible task handling my food, so we left. He couldn't have cared less that we were leaving. He grabbed his pitcher and walked away before we did. They could have really good food and drinks, but I'll never know. My hope is that this was a one-off situation, but something tells me it's not. There's a bar on the first and fourth floors. The first floor is pretty open with minimal seating, so I'm assuming it's meant for dancing. They also have a live band set up on that floor. Lastly, thank you to the security guard. He was a tall guy with braids, and despite our brief interaction, he was the only person who made us feel welcome. Outside of that interaction, this place was disappointing.
