The work environment was always positive and efficient--being good with kids, genuinely wanting to help them, and having a strong understanding of the Kumon program were some of the traits necessary to work here so I can assure your child will be in good hands. Also Ms. Erin, in charge of enrollments, is probably one of the kindest souls you will ever meet. Now on a more serious note: I had a horrible experience with the "HR rep" and Director of the school, and it's tough for me to write this because I wanted to like this school, and I'm still in shock a bit on how things ended. My 2yr old son had several accidents at this school, majority of which caused injuries to the face - one of which resulted in him losing a tooth, another had his nose looking like he was in a boxing match. Now, any parent knows that accidents happen, the frustration is with the vague incident reports and communication regarding these accidents. I.e telling me "a friend scratched his nose"... then upon pickup his nose was so swollen, his pediatrician recommended I take him to the ER for imaging. At the ER the nurses and Doctor questioned the story and asked if maybe an older child was involved, if it was a closed fist hit, an hit with an object, or maybe even a fall because the "scratch" was more of a scrape on the entire right side of the nose (no little finger nail marks). I brought these concerns to the school, and in short their response was an apology for the "scratch on his nose" and they unenrolled (kicked out) my son from the school due to me "questioning his care". I sent pictures via email of his bruising that was developing as the swelling went down (the inner corners of his eyes and all around the bridge of his nose had greenish bluish bruising), and they told me I "wasn't a doctor" and to "leave the diagnosis to a professional". NOTE: The ER held off on imaging because despite the blood inside his nose, and all the swelling, they could see he was able breathe through his nose so they advised to let the swelling go down and then maybe see and ENT specialist after that. They diagnosed him with a nasal abrasion and nasal contusion, and advised that I question the school more because it was not "just a scratch".... but since I'm not a "professional" to IKM (the HR Rep and Director) my questions and words weren't valid. The ER papers I guess didn't really matter either. My son is 2 years old and despite all the changes with the many teachers, he thrived education wise at that school and IKM said (via email) that maybe I needed "1 on 1" care for my son and all they could offer is a class of "21 - 26 student with 2 teachers". I had requested an in person meeting, and they refused to meet with me, they repeated to me when my sons last day would be, and stated that there "was nothing further to discuss". If you choose this school, I pray you and your child have a better more kind and compassionate experience than I did. Remember that HR and Management (the Director/owner) are the backbone to the school. Without having a solid backbone/foundation that's leading with their hearts - horrible experiences like this will continue to happen. That's not okay.

The office staff and principle all (Laura and Dr Eley) took the time to answer our questions about enrollment, and we were very appreciated as not all schools were as welcoming. Our child has attended Rover since kinder (now in 2nd). One of the things that I loved about Rover was the balanced curriculum. They place a lot of focus on academics, but also offer music, computer, gardening club, etc. So far, all of the teachers have been wonderful and really willing to work with us to get the best education for our child. I also love that the PTA has an active group, and they really do a lot to help the school.

The staff operates under a growth mindset. We experienced a positive relationship with Ms. Hulya and her staff. Ms. Hulya has over 15+ years of experience and demonstrates a desire to stay current and advance her professional development. She attends yearly workshops and maintains a curiosity for learning. When you find an educator with such deep passion for teaching, it makes a night-and-day difference for your child. 2. The setting is ripe for learning. It's obvious that everything at this school is designed to advance and elevate the students' learning experiences. This space is purposefully curated, impeccably organized, and remarkably clean. It continues to pass official health inspections by always adhering to their standards. Think of TRM as a daily retreat or sanctuary for your kids. 3. Intimacy yields social and emotional development. The teacher-child ratio is optimal (including Ms. Hulya, there are 2 additional assistants on-site). The small class size helped our kid develop deeper relationships with other kids and gain a sense of collective responsibility. As younger kids grow and progress, they are encouraged to provide mentorship for incoming kids. It's these relationships that emphasize social and emotional development, making academic achievements possible (i.e. reading, writing, math skills, etc.). 4. Kids participate in setting the table and loading dishwasher, eating their veggies first, and helping with meal prep. These communal eating experiences and regular cooking activities also led to good dining etiquette and meal planning for our family at home. 5. Trust and transparency are key to everyone. Much of TRM successes are attributed to Ms. Hulya and her teaching philosophy. This is why parents must equally invest in developing a transparent working relationship with her. We found Ms. Hulya to be open to our suggestions, honest in addressing our concerns, and willing to provide reasonable solutions for any course correction. Her communication was warm and friendly; mostly done via in-person or phone call (sometimes via text message or email). Overall, we wouldn't trade our experiences at TRM for anything. Our child felt the support of educators who invested in his development within a loving environment. He now has self-confidence and social skills needed to transition to kindergarten. He has an enthusiasm for learning, creating the building blocks for academic success. He also discovered passions (like cooking and painting) that we'll continue to foster. We know it's not always easy to find the right learning environment for your child. Choosing a school can be a trial-and-error process. If TRM is a good fit, you will not be disappointed. We later found out that it wasn't $300-$400 a month for 4 hours a week, but rather $360 a month for 12 months, covering 96 hours, and they run a hard credit check. This means she would be getting 6 months of tutoring for basically $360 bi-weekly, which felt misleading. I'd rather go to a tutoring place that doesn't do a hard credit check and is upfront with their prices. Additionally, Daniel was rude when I tried to discuss my daughter's needs; he would cut me off and talk about himself not even addressing or acknowledging what I just mentioned about my daughter.

On the DES website, I found that there is a duplicate case involving another child that is similar to what happened to my daughter. This preschool needs to be closed. There's no question. The director resigned. Prior to that resignation, there were multiple bruises, scratches, and cuts that happened to my daughter, in addition to a black eye. My daughter also mentioned that another child was bullying her, yet the preschool does not proactively provide incident reports. The former director showed a lack of leadership. I don't understand why this preschool is still operating. I have serious concerns about the children enrolled there, especially regarding the sub-director, DOMINIC (the new sub-director). Her behavior has been unprofessional. She has walked around in socks without shoes while on duty, which even my daughter questioned. When I ask questions, she often does not have answers. If she does not know, she redirects me to the teacher, and the teacher also says they do not know. This means no one can clearly explain what happened to my children. She does not communicate professionally, does not listen, interrupts, and shifts blame onto the parent. Her responses are often unreasonable, raising concerns about her role as sub-director. I have also observed teachers using their phones. When they are not on their phones, they are often chatting and not fully supervising the children. My children have eczema, and I provide their food. However, one of the sub-directors, Heidi (from a different branch), strictly monitors whether the food aligns with CACFP-approved meals, to the point that I questioned whether my children are expected to go without food while the program focuses on funding compliance. This preschool has serious issues. I want to raise awareness for other parents considering enrolling their children here. Based on my observations, this preschool lacks proper training and supervision. Staff appear to be hired to watch children but are not adequately trained. I am not confident that all staff are trained in CPR or first aid. I have asked the former director and both sub-directors about the cameras, and I was told that the cameras do not record and only buffer for about five minutes. This raises additional safety concerns. They are often unable to answer parents' questions and tend to provide vague responses. There are a few teachers who genuinely care for the children, but most do not. There are many new teachers, and only two consistent teachers assigned to a class, while the rest are constantly rotating. I have also observed staff raising their voices at children and not treating them with patience or kindness. This preschool always misorganized the kids' stuff. As a parent, I don't have time to find or spend 10 to 15 minutes to find my children's stuff. And this preschool has been like that, to the point where the parents need to ask all the teachers, where are the children's stuff?, where is the lunch bag? and they will ask each other. So this preschool misplace a lot of stuff of the children's here.
