This is a newly opened speciality grocery store that imports food products from Taiwan. Products offerings include dried goods, beverages, snacks, instant noodles, household items, frozen foods just to name a few. Prices are clearly marked on the shelves but staff are happy to answer (in Mandarin) any questions you may have. Many items are cheaper if you purchase 2 of something (eg. one for $2.99 but two for $5.00). Note that if you have lived in Taiwan, only some of the products sold here are the famous name brands found there. Nevertheless, this place sells lots of items made in Taiwan. The outside store entrance is through the north east corner of the Kuohua Trading Company building. Payment is by cash or debit only.

Recently found this Taiwanese grocery store in Markham! Kuo Hua imports Taiwanese food to Canada and they also sell to the public. It looks like an office building, but there's actually a small entrance to the store on the right. Selection is quite large for the shop size and prices are a bit cheaper compared to supermarkets. Many unique finds as well. I do find though it is hard to communicate to the employees if you don't speak Mandarin and sometimes the service isn't too friendly.

Though Kuo Hua is small compare to a real supermarket, but it is well stocked with Taiwanese food items! Black sesame snacks!! I cannot resist but stock up on all kind of snacks: biscuits, crackers! If you are vegetarian, there are also a lot of frozen mock meat items or vegetarian friendly sauces that might enhance your cooking experience! Here you can also find all the different flavour of drinking vinegar... apple, pineapple, lemon.. Rare find: Durian Pastry imported from Taiwan!!!... now you know where to find them! 1/15

My family and I had just eaten at the Pacific Mall, but man, wish we had saved ourselves for this spot. As far as an Asian grocery stores go, this is one of the cleaner, and better organized ones that I have been to, maybe ever. Not only are they clean, but they have a great variety of snacks and drinks, as well as your standard fare for everyday cooking. To me, the star of this place has to be their prepared foods area. Evidently after 8pm, they mark down lots of their prepared food items. From dim sum, to noodles, fried rice and other entrees, you can score plenty of items for $4-6 which were normally 2-3x that. I felt like a kid in a candy store and began snatching and hording all the things. I had to stop and remind myself we were on vacation, and would be living out of hotels for the next few days, so I limited myself to just a handful of items. We got some noodles, fried rice and dumplings, which we would end up eating for breakfast over the next few days. While nothing was mind blowing per se, the food was solid and certainly economical. If I lived in this area, I could see myself coming here on the regular just for the prepared foods. OVERALL - almost wish I hadn't come to this place, so I'd never knew what I was missing. Thank you Canada for showing me what's possible. CELEBRITY RATING - Simu Liu

The store is clean and bright. I especially love their collaboration with Vitasoy, where you can snag a free keychain with your purchase - such a fun little bonus! Plushie Hong Kong Signature Snacks keychain blind box was such a fun bonus! Yes, there can be long lines, but let me tell you, it is well worth the wait for an egg tart or a suimai. It was a lot of fun! Staff were incredibly kind and organized. Cashier was helpful in ensuring customers are making the correct purchases. The produce and vegetables are hit or miss in terms of freshness. The meats seem okay though. Their cooked foods are also hit or miss - sometimes lots of fillers/dough. On this occasion, we picked up some turnip cake and taro cake for lunar new year. I think they made it with the wrong flour because it was super gummy and chewy - more like "leen go". In summary, not a bad place to go for Asian groceries but have to be selective in what you pick to buy.
