I was actually surprised that Yummy Market has so poor reviews, but then I realized that for charging premium prices for food they should be better. I want to mention about pastries and cakes. Yummy Market is European store and it was only the place where I could buy not too sweet cakes and pastries. We all know how sweet pastries Canadian like not thinking about their health and weight. Now Yummy market make such a sweet pastries and cakes that I stopped buying it. Whoever modified a sweetness of cakes should go to hell honestly for making people sick and fat. You just ruined a last place where it was possible to shop. I am sure I am not only the one who think like this. I have a suggestion. Why don't you make half cakes as sweet as you already do and another half make 50% less sweet and make an announcement about it. Monitor which cakes people will buy more. read more

First off, everything is super hyped in prices. I have been coming to this location on and off for about almost nine years and it has never been as bad as it has gotten these days, enough for me to write this review. I went in this past week to buy some ground beef and a few other items, the meat looked very good, until I came home opened the package and saw that in the middle part of the meat was dark grey/brown and gross and smelled so rotten it was awful, I literally just took the package and threw it out as it clearly was spoiled/rotten, although the date of expiration read otherwise on the package!!! The thing is... this package of meat alone cost me $24, for this "family value" package of ground beef that went straight into the garbage bin! Sorry but this is just completely unacceptable. This, along a few other past negative personal food experiences that I have had and never bothered writing or complaining about that has made me cut this grocery store completely. While I appreciate that there are so many products from all over the world which makes it special and is really nice and convenient to have such variety for so many people, my review is mostly solely based on the meat department area of the store. read more

I absolutely love Yummy Market because it's so unique, they've really found their niche! I'm always curious to try new foods from various cultures and this is a grocery store that allows me to do that for an affordable price. One of my favorites is their bakery section full of cakes and pastries. They have all their goodies in a beautiful window display so you can see what they have to offer. A go-to of mine is their FRUIT TART which comes in a personalized size for $4.99 or a cake-size for $29.99! It's the perfect fruit tart, made fresh daily which allows the crust to be crispy. The custard is semi-sweet (perfect) and the glazed fruits are fresh and tasty while added so much color, adding to it's gorgeous presentation. I also love their prepped food station - especially the Baba Ganoush! The price goes by weight and might be a little costlier because of it, but I would say it's well worth it since everything is made and ready to go. My recent trip to this supermarket was such a treat! It carries Eastern European groceries and hot foot items- I particularly love their store made cheesecake that's sold by weight, fish fillets , and plain beets salad. I was excited to see schnitzel breading and seasoning for goulash, Kofta, etc. Their frozen fruit fridge was also impress8ve- they even have frozen lychee! It would have been a perfect first visit, but I was taken back when the lady at the hot food items sneered when I asked her what's mixed in one of the beet salad variations. She answered "it's beets" and made remark to her colleague before he looked at me. Not cool, but I still give them a 4 star rating because I am that happy with my purchase. The food isnt that cheap but not yet pricey t- 2 fish fillers for example cost $13, and each meat pie that fits in the palm of my hand cost $4.99 each. All food items tasted amazing! It is so much fun wandering around Yummy Market! Love all these unique products they carries. I guess I know how it feels when people gets so excited shopping at T&T. Everything here are all nicely arranged and organized. Great cheese, meat and produce department. Just love the Freshly baked bread and pastries! I can spend hours and checking out all these imported products. Plenty of parking even on a Sunday afternoon! BTW, there is also a sit down area for Gelato and Coffee at the front entrance if you want to chill a little! Yummy Market definitely delivers a Super Yummy experience!! read more

Review of Bakery staff: Came in at 9:30 pm, they close at 10 pm. The two women working in this department were bitchy and in a hurry to close up. Both were not in a mood to give us 200 g of one of their Polish cheesecakes; they told us that they cannot cut it for fear that it won't get sold if left cut in half! I was thinking.... then why advertised it to be sold per 100 grams!? Cakes were priced from $1.99 to $5.99. Taste was ok. Staff were not as SWEET as the cakes they serve/sell. Our neighbors invited us to the birthday party and they had some unusual appetizers that were quite delicious. When I complimented them, they laughed and told me that most of the food is from Yummy Market. We decided to check the place out and absolutely loved it - in the past 3 months we've been there 4 or 5 times! YM is the supermarket with great selection of European food. For example, they have better variety of cheese and pastrami (we are both big on cheese) than our neighborhood Longo's or Sobey's stores and at lower prices. However, it's the ready food section that is the main reason we come back to shop there. We both love it and my boyfriend clearly prefers ready food from YM to my cooking :) The have big smoked fish section, though it's not really our thing. We even tried red caviar but found it disgusting. The regular fish section is ok, but I prefer nearby Highland Farms as the fish there is better quality. I love this supermarket and have been shopping there over a decade but the quality of Sauerkrout has been getting worse over the past couple years. Sauerkrout, as a fermented cabbage, normally lasts for months if done properly. First it started going bad in a couple weeks getting yellow and lifeless, this time it got moldy. You really don't see many Supermarkets quite like Yummy Market. It's a beautiful, clean grocery store that sells various European goods. The pastries are very reasonable in pricing - comparable to the quality and price of Longos, but with a European twist! The baked bread is on the expensive side, but they're also unique in shapes, textures and sizes. Other products such as the ready to go foods, pickled vegetables, grilled fish all remind me of European culture. One of my favourite sections is the aisle of chocolate and candy. They have an assortment of bulk European candy section so you can pay by weight. In addition, they have lots of biscuits and chocolate, almost all made in a non-Canadian country. Another one of my favourite parts is the tea section. They have beautiful metal tins that you can't purchase elsewhere! Lastly, I recommend going over to the frozen section and grabbing the $1 mini cheesecake bars for a great snack! read more

Ok so I don't get the good reviews. Other than the extensive deli counter, I bought some pastry items which are stale and what they call a Napoleon is NOT a Napoleon slice at all. The other prepared foods were flavourless and low quality overall. Maybe I have been spoiled by the likes of Pusateri and Village Grocer but this place is gross. very racist people. i had gone to their grocery store for the first time ever. i had gone with a couple of my white friends, they checked out before me and the cashier didnt even wait for their payment to process or bother to give them their receipt. I Love shopping at Yummy Market. Their selection of cheeses, take-out hot and cold foods, breads and pastries is the Biggest that I have seen in York Region. The beautiful variety of Eastern European foods is amazing. And well worth the trip to the store that is located in Maple. During the holidays I had lost my cell phone. The gentleman who collects the carts found it and brought it to the Customer Service desk. I was very grateful that they safe-guarded it for me. Return visit to Yummy Market and reminded me why I do not shop here more often. In theory, this should be an ideal supermarket for someone who hates the depressing atmosphere and grunge of warehouses like Wal-Mart or whatever. Moreover, the supermarket is relatively clean and they carry a good assortment of goods, which stay put and unlike Sobeys does not change shelf and aisle every week (in order to confuse the customer into buying more). But Some of the old issues came back to me. The staff are self-centred and unfriendly. How difficult is it to ask your employees to communicate and be polite to customers? They do not have enough cashiers or lanes and the wait time is long. Things get worse when a cashier and a (customer) friend decide to chitchat about whatever (it's in Russian) and three people are waiting for the conversation to hopefully conclude at some point. The parking lot is congested. Their wakame salad is still mislabeled and is not wakame salad. Either they don't know and are ignorant or no one there has a clue or no one has bothered to inform management (never mind the Russian ladies making 'Japanese salad'). All they need to do is do a search on the Internet and they will know they are mislabeling the product. Regardless A good assortment of products, a few hard-to-find items from Eastern Europe, which is nice to see, nice deli and cheese selection and still subpar pastries missing that certain flavor that using quality items gives you. read more

This place is new and the grand opening isn't until March. It is up and running and operating at full steam. The staff is all friendly and helpful. What's more is unlike most retailers nowadays where help is hard to find without issuing a SOS, help is everywhere here. It seemed like every checkout was open, so everything moved fast despite the full parking lot and store busy full of customers. I was amazed that they weren't having more growing pains that are usually quite visible at a new store. Someone told me that the deli and bakery here was awesome so I came to pickup some bread. Boy was I in for a treat. The bakery was fully stocked with all kinds of delicious sounding and looking artisan breads. All were available for sampling!!!! Yum! Carbaholics beware. Danger here! I love sour dough and miss proper sourness and their sourdough is awesome. The deli is well stocked with meats and endless cheeses. I will be back and will review more, meanwhile pass the butter while I enjoy this bread I bought. read more

This is a nice european grocery store. They have foreign and canadian prroducts. Careful! A bit pricey tho. I have noticed that few labels posted by the store are contradictory to the labels on the products. OMG, before visiting this store I thought I saw everything. Now I know. There is no limit for perfection. Perfection of selection, perfection of tasty food, perfection of cleanliness. I was in Canada visiting friends. And they brought me to see this Kingdom of food. They have everything you want to eat. Everything from Russian/Ukrainian, ex Soviet Union cuisine. I bought some amazing canned garlic/dill pickles, fig gem, some Ukrainian style ham, some delicious rye bread. I wish I could buy more. But I could not take too much food to Maryland. Just one thing they miss. During two visits to this store, I had some interaction with a couple of employees, including someone who stocks merchandise on shelves, one cashier and one more employee from deli department. They do not smile. They are not happy to see you. They barely talk to you. Russian style of service. Probably it's because most of them from ex Soviet Union countries. I felt as I returned to Moscow. Customer service is really not perfect. It does not match that luxuriance of food they have. They are not in hurry to help you. This is why I can't give them 5 stars. read more

This is a great European run grocery store. They have everything from regular groceries, a delicate bakery section and gourmet ready to go foods!! They are a bit on the pricy side and the likes are massive but maybe that because of good Friday. The staff are all very helpful and feels like a family Run store. Everyone here is very efficient and quick. Although it's much larger then a family business. There's plenty of parking outside too. I'd love to go back and try some of the baked goods and gourmet dishes. But it's probably not cheap at all. They have two locations: one in maple and North York. Tonight was the first time I've shopped at Yummy Market. I give yummy market 4 stars because I still think it could use a lot more in the kosher department, but other than that I loved the fresh produce . I've tasted some of the sliced watermelon I got, it was saggy but super sweet. And I've tasted one of the plums I've bought, it was delicious and sweet. I came here when I had a meeting in the area. I love exploring supermarkets I've never been to before. That's a good time for me. This seems to be a Jewish/Eastern European supermarket. The bakery section was small, but it had some really neat items. I got some rugelach that were very tasty. They had some really good deals on produce (super cheap strawberries and blueberries). What really excited me was there "personal care" items aisle. It was huge and had everything from Europe. I couldn't read most of the packaging, but I just went ahead and bought stuff randomly because it was all super cheap. I have to say that I've found my favourite toothpaste ever! It was this Russian (I think) brand and the toothpaste is pink and tastes vaguely fruity/herbacious. It makes my mouth feel so clean. I need to come back and buy a few more tubes because I wouldn't know where to find this toothpaste elsewhere. I don't even know what the name is because it's in Russian (again, I think). read more
