A friend of mine was visiting from out of town and I was meeting her at her daughter's condo to make a cake (see yesterday's post) so she picked up some dinner from Galleria, a Korean supermarket at Yonge and Steeles. I haven't been there in years! We enjoyed some really good Korean food, simple dishes but very flavourful. Our meal included a seafood soup, glass noodles, skewers, fish, veggies, spicy bean sprouts, and more. Unfortunately, I didn't take note of the names of these dishes but they all tasted good, and were very reasonably priced. If Galleria had a location closer to home, I would definitely be a regular customer!

As an avid visitor of Asian supermarkets, this large Galleria supermarket location is one of my favorites. The hours are very convenient, opening late on most days of the week, this place is great for a late night snack run. This location carries a large selection of fresh produce, fresh proteins, frozen goods, home goods, and prepared foods. It also has a small food court section with around 5 shops selling various selections of hot foods. All in all galleria is a great one stop shop for all of your food essentials!

This location does get quite busy and turning left into the parking lot takes some patience and nice drivers letting you through from the other direction. Finding a parking spot also takes some patience. We were lucky that a couple of people were leaving when we got there. There's 2 other smaller Korean grocery stores in the area but seeing as this one is larger one there's more selection. The meat section has the typical cuts of meat and also thinly sliced meat perfect for hotpot as well as beef bones for making soup. The seafood section includes fresh and frozen items. My favourite part of the supermarket could be the prepared foods. There's fried chicken in buckets, kimbap, spicy rice cakes, the popular Korean hot dogs, a variety of side dishes, pancakes and more. Closer to the cash registers there's a stand that makes carp bread (Bungeo-ppang - the fish-shaped pastry filled with red bean paste). They sell them individually or in packs of 3 or 6. There was a line of a few people deep when we were there so maybe next time we'll get some. After the cash registers there's a food court, clothing and cosmetics stores and a bakery that I believe are not affiliated with Galleria.

This is the smaller Galleria but I still find it 80% equipped despite its size. Bonus is that it is opened 24 hours! We came for a stroll after supper yesterday and happy to have scored some after 9 pm deals- some of the bakery items can be found inside the supermarket with a 20% discount. The bakery closes at 9, but you can pay for what you like (except for the cakes in the display) at the grocery checkout.

I absolutely love Galleria, and one that is 24/7?! Even better! Their selection is amazing and packed with good things that cannot be found elsewhere OR is typically at a better price. For example, I was able to find the entire collection of Buldak carbonara products here; including the frozen fried rice, dumplings, instant noodles (original carbonara and creamy!) in packs and cup noodle form, instant toppoki, carbonara sauce, and I've also heard through the grape vines that they carry the spicy mayo as well. They also have a cute bakery section near the cash registers that carries cakes, buns, and other goods. I love the presentation aspect of this section. Service and friendly, as well as efficient. Employees can be seen working around the clock stocking to keep shelves full and they're willing to help locate items as well.

"Old Cucumber" per the label, anyone had these before?

My first trip to Galleria! It's definitely a hot destination so the smaller parking lot is definitely a little difficult to navigate and we did have to wait for parking. The entry has automatic doors and the gate within is currently tied back so you don't have to touch it. There is hand sanitizer at the entry and there's a sign at the baskets letting customers know they are sanitized. For a grocery store on the smaller side of things, they have a lot of bulk buying choices which was very impressive. Corn by the bushel, cucumbers by the box, seaweed in huge packages! There's a fresh seafood section with live fish and lobsters. They have ready made food to go including sushi, fried chicken, Korean street food snacks, and kimbap. There's also packaged food that's ready to cook like meats ready for shabu-shabu or ramen kits. There is a food court within Galleria and some seating in that area for you to consume your goods. Around this area are also other little shops. I saw a clothing store and a beauty goods one. Towards the exit is the bakery section which has its own check-out that is separate from the main grocery area. They have buns and fancier cakes that seem perfect for special occasions.

Never had this Coffee Cola before. Kinda interesting...

I'm from out of town, but frequent this market for my hotel fill for the week. Bought everything from cold coffee drinks, green tea and even Taiyaki for dessert.

Always very crowded, but always fully stocked. Would be nice if the isles can be a bit wider

We love grocery shopping here. It could get crowded at times with the right isles but we usually come here early in the day or during weekdays to avoid rushes. Lots of quality asian products and an amazing prepared food section. We usually come here for kimbap as a quick cheap snack. So worth. Good amount of parking.

Location/Service Right at the intersection of Yonge and Steeles. Getting in the plaza can be a little tricky with the traffic. But the plazas in between connect through, so you can head in from the back. Good amount of parking available. Pretty big size supermarket. Staff speaks mostly in Korean, but conversation in English and will often assist if you have any questions. They're also quite friendly. Food/Offerings I love their variety of Korean snacks, fruit, meat, seafood, packaged goods and general grocery. If you want to cook Korean recipes, this is the place to go. They offer Korean premium imported fruits and meat. Also providing standard Canadian/US or South American fruits. There's also standard food you can find at Western supermarkets. I like how they have cooked and ready foods for you to buy and go (if you're in a hurry) or for late night snacks. These are typically easy to eat Korean dishes like mandu, kimbap, chapchae, Korean fried chicken and other delicious goodies. Did I tell you they're open 24 hours?! That's even more amazing to serve anyone's needs at any time of the day. They also have a small food court area for you to eat your purchases if you like, with microwave and utensils available. This is my usual go-to Korean supermarket and I've been going here for years!

    Customer service! Wonderful!

I ordered catering and it was great service! The lady was patient and easy to work with. She showed me the options for catering party trays! It was my first time and was wonderful customer service.

There are a lot of Galleria Supermarkets on the west coast (in the US), but we just found out they had branches in Canada! Woohoo! This supermarket has a lot of fresh groceries and Korean products. They even hav a Daiso corner inside the shop as well (with KOREAN Daiso products, similar to price). I even found the bongsoonga powder for my nails too! They also have a Boongeuhbbang corner in the back of the store near all the fridges. It's $2 per boongeuhbbang, but they were making them fresh. The Galleria here not only carries a wide variety of food, but all sorts of Korean products in general including clothes, medicine, beauty products, kitchenware, etc. There is a food court located on the left side of the store, with about 3-4 vendors. The menu is limited, but they give you a good amount of food for the prices. Overall, I would say this is a better supermarket than PAT (Sorry PAT!!) and this will be our go-to Korean market from now on.

    Delicious!

After the event was over, I did some browsing around the supermarket before I left. It was my first time at any Galleria Supermarket. Think T&T Supermarket, but with Korean goods. I dig supermarkets and this one was cool. It's funny that I pass by the Galleria on Steeles Avenue West, just west of Yonge Street, every week after work. I've never gone in there, mainly because I'd have to do a left turn from Steeles Avenue West. When leaving this place, I'd need to do a left turn without a set of traffic lights. Otherwise, I'd have to do the around-the-block set of right turns. It's just seems so inconvenient. If I were heading westbound, I'd have better luck. I do like this Galleria. There was a lot of parking. I am also familiar with the area, with California Sandwiches around the corner. I saw massive tubs of kimchi. When you see so many varieties of kimchi and the vessels to have it ferment if you make your own, you know that you're in a good supermarket with everything that you need. I liked seeing travel utensil kits with chopsticks, spoons, and more. I got stuck in the housewares section, looking at plates, bowls, kettles, frying pans, rice cookers, and more. I love small appliances. It was so tough tearing myself out of this part of the store. I had a can of Sac Sac from the event. It had peeled grapes in it. It was so good that I know I'll return to this supermarket just for this product alone. So good! I frankly would like to live in this supermarket. It has heat-and-eat items. There's also a food court that I need to explore. It's a huge store! I loved everything that I saw. I'll be back to buy and be broke afterwards. (447)
