The worst admitted student day I have seen after visiting many schools. A very nice campus yet the event was severely disorganized and impersonal. Arrival and check in right beside a very loud band so you cannot hear the person checking you in and they cannot hear you. From 9:30-10:45 you have an option of taking a housing tour. The housing tour is about 30 or so people with one guide who takes you to one dorm room and tells you "all the wood things come with the room". No explaining which dorms are freshman or if there are any suites or how long students are guaranteed housing or any other information. We then wait for the president to speak for the next 45 min as there are no other events or tours scheduled yet. Everyone is piled into a foyer waiting. Eventually the doors are opened (30 min later than told) and we are guided into a room with tables representing various student activities When we talked to the person at the Greek life table they knew nothing about Greek like because the Greek life person didn't show...so they were filling in. Breakfast items were also offered during this time (it's 11am) but it's still a nice gesture. There are no chairs for anyone to sit and a few standing tables yet not nearly enough for the volume of students. The president gives a vague speech which is more like "hi" and lacks substance that tells students anything about the school. Then there is a prize give away for a few students. While waiting for a housing tour I asked if there were campus tours. A student working for admissions (we did not see any admissions counselors only students) said well if you come back I can get someone to give you one. There were no campus tours!? What? We went back as he had told us to do and he was not there. Walking around the campus yourself is not the same as getting information about the campus or hearing the student perspective. Honestly the whole event was run in this rote impersonal fashion. Next stop was the tables set up for departments. No faculty present at the major we wanted to talk to. The student present told us they never had to take a single math course and they are a current senior...??? That doesn't seem to be true. What weren't faculty present to talk to incoming students and welcome them or answer questions? Last stop as we guided ourselves through campus was a carnival. They brought in a very cute camel and a goal as well as a guy with a big bubble wand. Comments I heard were "if this is how they run their event then what would it be like to go to school here!?" "I can't go here", "this is chaos" "they put time into getting a camel but what about telling us about the education they offer or living here". It was chaos. And in truth we left feeling like it's a nice looking school that must have things to offer but we will never know because of how poorly they represented themselves. read more

Housing took my money when I paid for a single room and just never gave it to me. I paid for that single in February and April 1st is when I got to pick a suite. I was forced to pick a random suite with people I don't even know let alone trust around my medication. As an animated arts major who loves to do fine arts in their free time, I could use a little more space AND QUIET to focus on my work since animations take a hell of o long time to finish especially if you want them to be good. Emailed housing, they gave me a bs answer and got nowhere. Now I have to search the campus for wherever the housing office is just to speak to them in person since email goes nowhere. ------ For some extra complaints: Don't trust the rice unless you like it as chewy as sour patch kids. The chicken has so much fat pieces and all that left on it when cut that it's practically all your eating. Sausage with a nice helping of ground up bones left in. The second floor of the south dining hall doesn't even have clean lettuce of any kind, I tried some with my taco and it tasted rubbery and dirty (but apparently downstairs they actually wash the lettuce). According to some people I've talked to, old main is full of black mold and asbestos and lytle hall has high radiation. At least from my experience, the dorms aren't safe from black mold finding a nice home all over your shower. They seem to lie a bit on the tours and I honestly don't like this school as much as I used to. Maybe I should've gone to SCAD (Savannah College of Art and Design) or RISD (Rhode Island School of Design) since those schools are actually respectable. read more

I have been to this place for merit badge classes for Boy Scouts. Out of all the universities I took classes at, I favor this one the most. When I walked in I was greeted with complementary hot chocolate and a lounge area to wait for my classes to begin. Also during our breaks from classes they let us explore the campus instead of just sticking to one area. The classes were taught by professors and students of the university alike. I had a great time and talked with other scouts. We received sandwiches, chips, and a drink for lunch from them and it was average but that is to be expected since it is not a five star restaurant or something. When the classes were done I explored the campus more, taking photographs. It was an awesome experience. I recommend visiting this university. read more

The school is beautiful or whatever. But unless you're financially stable then I don't recommend coming to the school. I was on the verge of being homeless during the spring semester and financial aid helped and for the fall semester I was told I needed to put down my family's information although I am still in the same situation and now I have to pay for tuition and they're refusing to help. They suggested I go to a community college because there's nothing they can do yet somehow they want the students to leave a good desire and enjoy campus life. The student accounts lady, Wendy, is extremely rude and cocky and does the bare minimum to help, still I was asked to reach out to her and that's when she suggested community college. Mind you, I have nothing against community college, I went to one myself for almost a year and decided it wasn't for me. But it's the lack of help you get from the financial team and the school that really sucks. Not to mention the advisors don't help you with what you need in order to graduate. You reach out to them and they ignore you and then when you do reach out and get through them, they give an attitude and barely help. Overall, the scenery is beautiful, but Kutztown isn't worth it. Save money and go somewhere else where the staff helps you and treat you like with respect. read more

I have a love-hate relationship with Kutztown. I only attended here as an English major for one year. Here is what I've experienced: CAMPUS: B B for B-E-A-Utiful! Hah...but no really. It's a lovely campus. Easy to get around. Not too big. HOWEVER: when it rains, it pours. Like literally, this campus turns into a swamp. Rain boots are an absolute necessity. PROFESSORS: A A for awesome...loved my professors! I wish I could hang around them and discuss literary theory forever. But I can't. Oh well. FOOD: C Tastes good, makes you feel sick. Expensive if you decide to buy "Flex" so you can purchase healthier meals. SECURITY & OTHER STAFF: F F....as in F you. I hated everyone else on this campus. No one could answer my questions about anything. I got ticketed for 990 dollars worth of parking violations for parking where most sophomores park (although they cut me a break and had me pay 400). And don't bother calling any offices. I get hung up on, no matter how nice I am. DORMS: D Oh sweet baby Jesus. I lived in Schuylkill, and I'm surprised I came out alive. There were weeks where we were not allowed to run showers, flush toilets, or drink from the water fountains. Really? That's absolutely disgusting. Good thing it's a suitcase school. There's no way I could stay there on the weekends. Anyway, D is for Dixon, as in only live in Dixon because it's practically the only nice building to reside. Loved it, hated it, probably wouldn't go back, unless to visit a friend. Mixed feelings. read more

Senior year, I've noticed some ups and downs. The campus police can be perhaps the most hated on campus by students, but are strict and I feel very safe, yet they are there when you need them. Although they are highly unreliable about parking passes. The upside is that the newly built music building is just amazing! It was completed in September 2013. Really nice and clean building for music students and it's music rooms are also greatly done with some Steinway and Sons upright pianos( those are expensive). Another is a multimillion dollar renovation to the Cub Cafe up campus. Even though it's a "small" campus; it seems really huge. The science, and art building professors want to help you. But you may have to check "rate my professor" online because I've had one of the bad ones that completely go off topic. Some KU staff are very helpful to you when you ask questions. They love questions, they helped me out with my housing situation where my roommate was a smoker and he did not click smoker on his student profile online, as I am asthmatic. Overall my 4-5 years here has been alright. Not bad for having KU as a last resort choice. You have many things to choose from! And instate tuition is approximately $9k a year. I just had a photography workshop here. Sure, it's a haul from Philly area but this campus is gorgeous. We had the workshops in the science center area next to the sports fields. The auditorium was really nice and the Berks Photography club did a nice job with all the audiovisual tech support. I didn't get to see much of the campus except getting lost and driving around the south campus area. It is absolutely gorgeous and would love to visit here again. read more

Today I went with son and my husband to Kutztown university for a tour.. the school is placed in a little town with very little ethnic diversity. However, it's historical and has picturesque landscaping and buildings. The tour guide made sure to tell us she was from Uzbekistan and NOT Pakistan, I'm not sure why... but I guess that was important to her and not showering... the presentation was given by a guy named Joe..who asked the audience about their majors... and went through all of them briefly but managed to skip over Psychology, my son's major. Even though my son stated his major just as everyone else had. Yes, this was disappointing because we drove 90 minutes to this campus for this tour with hardly any information given... overall, the campus is lovely. The freshman dorms were not tremendously small although no air conditioning is not allowed. However, this is still one of my son's picks. read more

I met my husband at this amazing school!!!! From the academics, to the athletics, and the overall great people, I would rate my experience a 14/10!!!!! I can't wait until my kids attend, and my grandkids too!!! YAY! read more

Out of all the visits we made to many different schools this was the match for us. The country hometown feel was wonderful and the campus is beautiful. My daughter will be attending in the fall for early education they have an excellent program for this. read more
