This is a food truck usually parked in front of Super Compare Foods on Silas Creek Parkway. When we got in line they immediately handed us a free sample, and not a bite, but a whole churro! It was amazing! Hot and fresh, right out of the fryer, rolled in cinnamon and sugar, wrapped with a tissue and put in my hands. We ordered a dozen for $10 to take home to our kids and they were devoured before they cooled off. They offer a few different flavors if you want sauces drizzled over the top, such as lechera and cajeta, but I'm a purist and like them the standard way. So the next time you're craving a donut, try the Churro King instead.

After ordering, I was given a buzzer to be notified when it was ready. The staff person were very friendly. The buzzer went off at 5:23pm. The food was hot and fresh. However, the fries and chicken was unseasoned. Ketchup made the fries taste better. I had to eat the chicken how it was, lol. Overall, it was a good deal. My kids enjoyed their empanadas. It's parked beside Royal Pabaderia Mexican Bakery in a rather rough area with an assortment of small businesses - pawn shops, tattoo parlors, auto storage and repair, etc. The parking areas are rough and all are slanted, not an easy in or out, especially on busy Silas Creek. If you have any mobility issues, use care! Gott there around 10:30, no rig, parked and waited, if no show I have a great option down the street, New Sichuan! Rig pulled in 10 minutes or so later, gave him a few minutes, then walked up and placed my order, Birria Tacos - told 15 minutes - that was doable. By 15 minutes, I have my order. I sit in my car in this ugly ass area, and dig into some damn good tacos - very well filled with meat and cheese, topped with cilantro, chopped white onion, lime wedges and sliced radishes. Nice touch was the well grilled sliced onion, and the two sauces, verde and Rojo. Loaded up and fully engaged there are few places that can top these tacos. I happen to stumble across their launch announcement on Facebook and made it my business to go and give it a try. As an African American with ZERO cultural ties to my ancestral home, I've been super eager to try West African cuisine. African Avenue is a bright orange food truck that sits next to the McDonald's on the Perimeter of Hanes Mall. There's safe and easy access with plenty of parking. I approached the food truck and was greeted by a friendly lady. They have a small menu, but his is a plus for me as it leaves less room for me to be indecisive! I ordered a few things. A meat pie, Bissop, and the Jollof (red rice) and Goat that's served with a side of fried plantain. The meat pie had a sweet and flaky crust. It was filled with seasoned ground meat (unsure what kind) potatoes, and carrots. It was very flaky and easy to eat. It was delicious. The Bissop is a Hibiscus drink. It wasn't as sweet as Sorrel, but was spiced and ginger forward. It was refreshing. The Jollof rice was spicy and flavorful. EVERY grain of rice had absorbed the tomatobase and seasonings. The GOAT was tender and seasoned well.The plantain was semi sweet. Overall a great dish. It only took about 4 minutes to receive my food. I waited until I got home to eat because there's no seating and I had my toddler in the car. The food was cold by the time I arrived and it was only a 15 minute drive. I can't wait to go back to try the Eguisi and pounded yam! Reasonable prices and great portions! Go check them out and try something new!!
