They had real pepper sauce that I haven't had in years, was nostalgic. Saw this on my way into Walmart and thought "I haven't had a GOOD meal today"; they did not disappoint. Touched a part of my childhood and reminded me of my parents cooking. Me and my buddy were just talking about our satisfaction the entire meal. PLEASE BE MORE GENEROUS WITH THE NAPKINS. I was going in on the SPICY NOODLES and my face is tingling from the pepper sauce.

    Chicken and fries

My seven year old *loved* the chicken and fries. He talked about the chicken for the rest of the day. We're definitely going back when the timing works out.

    Too Good!

If you're planning to eat there, just know the food isn't fast--it's made fresh to order, so expect a little wait, but it's worth it for hot, quality meals. My go-to is the egusi with chicken and a side of pounded yam. I'll also switch it up with their vegetable soup and pounded yam, which is always a good choice. I've tried the jollof rice as well--I'd give it about a 7/10. It's solid, especially with chicken, and I recommend asking for a little extra red sauce or gravy to take it up a notch. Overall, the food is consistently good when I order delivery. One thing to watch for--they've occasionally forgotten my extra pounded yam, so double-check your order before settling in. I can't speak on the dine-in service or ambiance yet, but based on the food alone, I'd definitely recommend them.

Loving some of the international flare here in the Greensboro area, and Mamaput is no exception. I…read moredo have to rate it around 3.5. Not a 3, but couldn't give it a 4 today. Stopped in for a weekday lunch and the person behind the counter was really nice. The place was clean and bright with an open air feel to it. I ordered an Egusi with Chicken and Fufu. Let's go through what all this is, but first why the 3.5 rating...the chicken. This is supposed to be fall off the bone that is fresh and stewed in the sauces. Great flavor for sure, but it was very tough. The plastic knife given had trouble cutting it. You want to think fall off the bone meat, this wasn't it. Not sure if I came in on a bad rotation where they reheated chicken from earlier or the night before, but it did not taste fresh as you'd expect. Ok now to the good stuff... Egusi: this is the main flavor, listed as a soup on the menu but more like a stew instead. It's nutty and hearty with 5 star flavor and spices. This thing rocked! Fufu: this as a mild and soft starch that goes with it all. Almost like a softer consistency gnocchi or some other potato/noodle combo. Not much to it by itself honestly, but man, what a great flavor bomb when you take a piece of it and dunk it in that amazing egusi. Maybe on a day with fresh and tender chicken, the trifecta would be complete: soft and chewy fufu + rich and nutty egusi + fall off the bone tender chicken. Unfortunately today the 3rd piece was missing.

My friend wanted me to meet her there and insisted they were open. I had my doubts but rolled in and what did I see???? An illuminated OPEN sign! Yipppeeee! We walked in a little carry out space with a couple of high top tables, looked like take out, the lady had a steam table loaded with 8 dishes, it's kind of like buffet, but Terry fixes your plate. (I used to work with a waiter from NY, when Southerners said, "fixin", he would say, "is it broken?") She loads it up with all the veggie dishes, there were one or two meat options too. I didn't try any, now I'm mad at myself, why didn't I? Plenty of injera and Terry's homemade hot sauce available. The door to the bar is open, so you can sit in the bar with your heaping plate of goodness, there's even a patio if you would like to sit outside, but not a lot of shade so it would have to be the perfect afternoon for al fresco dining. We enjoyed our lunch, barely talking, scarfing down our food, Ethiopian is one thing that I cannot eat fast enough!!! If I'm with people, I have to make myself stop and talk. Be sure to make time for coffee service. Ethiopian coffee is unique. They hand roast the beans, grind them, steep in a tiny, clay pot and serve with warm milk, tiny cups and popcorn. WHAT THE WHAT? My head exploded. I had a most enjoyable lunch, can't wait to return! Lunch is $10 and on Wednesdays it's $9!!!!!!!! CUNW.
