Quesabirria tacos (it comes with four but I was too excited to wait )
    Stephanie P.

This taco truck has THE BEST birria tacos I've ever had. No matter where I go and order birria, it's never as good as this taco truck and I'm always left disappointed. El Sabor was recently closed for a stretch of time for truck maintenance and I had been counting down the days until they opened back up. Not only does El Sabor have quesabirria tacos, but they also have quesabirria pizza, quesabirria quesadillas, and many more specials like birria grilled cheese and birria egg rolls! Even though this truck sometimes run behind and off their posted schedule, the delicious food is always worth the wait.

OHKAY YUM!!! El Sabor Tabasequeno has been on my radar for quite some time after seeing it on social media! The birria taco trend took over and El Sabor Tabasqueno skyrocketed to the top of the game with all their creative options featuring the tender, flavorful birria beef. Keep in mind since this is a food truck, they do often sell out of certain items. They're great about posting updates on their social media, so I definitely recommend checking that out before your visit. Also note, they are not always at the address listed on this page! You'll want to make sure to check for their weekly schedule to show locations and hours! Now that we've gotten that out of the way, on to the food! Super creative menu to feature their slow cooked, flavorful, tender birria. Staple options like the classic birria tacos comes with 4 tacos and consomme for $14. A little pricy but this is probably standard for a food truck. One of the more creative options on the menu is the birria ramen. Tapatio brand ramen, they use the flavorful consomme as the broth, add birria meat, onions and cilantro. This bowl is bursting with flavor. It comes with 2 mini birria tacos as well which I thought was a nice touch. Super creative and well executed. I also ordered the small birria pizza which is $25 for a 10 inch. This comes with several lime slices and a few cups of consomme. This is yummy and cheesy! I would've loved more cilantro and onions, and some radishes. The meat and consomme is wonderfully flavorful, my only real complaint is that I like a richer, thicker consomme. This one is just a little bit too watery for me, as it doesn't stick to the tacos as well. The flavor was great though. Generous serving of meat on the pizza. The unsung hero of this visit was the chicken tacos. I had originally planned to order the birria nachos, but they were sold out so I went with the chicken tacos. Whoa. This chicken was so flavorful and well seasoned. It reminded me a bit of chicken tinga, but not quite the same flavor profile. The homemade tortillas were delicious and the hot sauce (pretty spicy!) on the side was delicious and you could taste the smoky fresh jalapeño flavor. Expect to wait in line! This food truck is super popular. They have a pager system which is super helpful, we waited on our food in the car since it was pouring rain. They conveniently wrapped everything up in a bag with napkins, utensils, and a straw for my mango strawberry lemonade (which was delish!) There is NOT seating or tables or anything like that nearby. Be prepared to take it to go! Overall this is a fun stop for all your birria needs!

Yes you should go here. There are not many places in WS that serves Birria and that is their specialty and just not in a taco form but, quesadillas, ramen, pizza, sopes, all things birria. They are a food truck that is often at the address listed here but check their FB or IG to verify hours and place. Very quick nice service. I've been there twice and I will definitely go back when I have a hankering for birria. On my first visit I got the quesadilla and my initial impression when I picked the order up was "oh my gosh this is heavy!" It indeed was a very good amount of food and wow was it rich! It was just too much for me and I should have known better than to order birria in a quesadilla. Birria is inherently on the saucy/greasy side and when put in a quesadilla any crispiness of the tortilla is gone in seconds. Plus the oiliness of the birria combined with the melted cheese is too much for me. The birria itself was good if a tad bit too salty. Their salsa was fantastic and I appreciated the lime slice to cut bring a brightness to the dish, could have used two! was very good but a bit on the salty side. On my second visit I got their special the sopes. My thought was that the thicker sopes vehicle could handle the sauciness of the birria better and that it would have the lighter queso cojita, and yes that worked out perfectly! But maybe too perfectly, I wish it was served with a little side of jus for dipping. I again found this one a bit salty but I tend to be more sensitive to salt. Next time I go, I'll try the classic tacos and eat them right there in the car.

El Sabor Tabasqueno is the BEST place to get Birria in Winston Salem. The consommé has a great depth of flavor compared to other birria in the area. I got the Quesabirria tacos and they were delicious. The food came out fast and they had beepers to let you know when your food was ready. They were cheesy, crunchy and the beef was super tender. I also got their horchata which basically tasted like you were drinking a churro. They have lots of different ways to eat their birria such as pizza or ramen and usually have a special going like empanadas or sliders. Their food truck can normally be found in the parking lot outside of Colfax furniture on Silas creek parkway. I also appreciate that they give weekly updates on their Instagram of their schedule and where they will be. Definitely worth giving them a try if you like birria.

Food and service were great today. If it wasn't so windy I would have definitely sat outside at a picnic table to eat. I can't wait to try more of the menu.

While not all of our local options are great, we have a reasonably large number of options that are good enough to make them regular stops for me. Taco Mama is not going to be on that list, I'm afraid, based on my experience thus far. The facility itself seems fine, though the ambient noise level was rather loud (likely influenced by all the metal and concrete). But the food, the feel, the service and the value just don't compete well with all those other places we have to choose from. The unhelpful attitude of the clerk taking my order didn't start things out well; she seemed genuinely annoyed about being there, and that attitude carried over into her tone when answering my questions or prompting me for info she needed. Also on the service side of things, I had to stop the waitress from throwing away my food -- a plate over half full -- after I'd walked not more than ten steps away to refill my drink. [She apologized, but only after I had to confront her twice; still don't understand why "don't throw that away!" could have been confusing.] The burrito and beans I ordered were edible, but so bland that I might as well have been eating packing materials. The accompanying chips were warm, but the cup of salsa was quite possibly the least appealing salsa I've ever been served in a restaurant. I've had Taco Bell food I've enjoyed more than this. And yet I had forked over almost $20 for such a disappointment. Maybe it was an off-day. Maybe the tacos are the way to go here instead. But I don't think they offered even a hint of a reason for me to try Taco Mama again any time soon.

Sometimes I'm in the mood for tacos. Last week I figured I'd give them a try & so glad I did! It's always a plus to see a high sanitation rating! The ambiance is festive & clean, even around the soda machines. The counter service was great. The team member was knowledgeable, helpful & patient. I mentioned that I was a first-timer. There's a large selection of great toppings to choose from. Fulfillment is quick & the staff is pleasant at handoff. The food is always nicely packaged & travels well - it's also good to ask what does. My tacos were filled with veggies that came with a free side, along with chips & salsa! My to-go box was topped off with some of the best light & crispy chips - even better when salted & warm (I found the salt factor to be hit or miss on orders). Side note, while some competitors give you a dab of queso, Taco Mama doesn't skimp. I've eating here several times before posting, and it's consistent. Hopefully, they'll continue to keep up the quality food & service. Oh, I should point out that my bill only included the meal & tax. You don't have to worry about the dreaded, dare I say illegal, cc service charge that some establishments are passing onto their customers.

The birria tacos were the highlight of the meal--crispy on the outside, packed with flavorful meat, and full of that rich, savory birria taste that keeps you coming back for another bite. The mixed-meat street tacos offered a nice variety, featuring birria, al pastor, and tripa. The al pastor brought a good balance of seasoning, while the tripa added a different texture that taco fans will appreciate 8 out 10 . The ACP was ok but needed more flavor on the rice and a for the grilled chicken and cheese I would have like more flavor on it to but me being the Fatboy I am , I added some of the consommé juice in and mix boom Flavor So all together I'll give them a 7.8 The customer service was great Josue took great care of us

It was busy and bustling, a bit noisy, packed spaced. We were waited on my Evie who was an absolute gem, available and professional. I ordered a special taco plate with fish that was beer battered. The tacos were pretty good: pickled onions, an amazingly flavorful orange sauce. The fish was somewhat bland and kind of mushy in the middle. The rest was good. Salsa bar, guac, and chips were tasty. I also had a fresh limeade that was great. I would come back, especially for the service.

Blackberry sage had a muddled, interesting flavor to it. Think wine-y but not quite that either. The mixed berry needed more berry flavor but was okay. Lavender was best out of all, but it was teetering on sickly, almost had too much lavender syrup. For entrees, I ordered the puffy Pete chicken tacos. They came out with crema on it when I ordered it on the side, but it was quickly rectified. The portion was good. I was full by the end. The flavor was okay. Chicken cooked fine. But it didn't have much of a sweet heat kick to it without the jalapeños added. Overall, I wouldn't necessarily get it again when we go back. My fiancé ordered the Houston beef puffy taco. He thought the taco was very filling. It had meat falling out of it, which was good. It tasted like a typical ground beef taco. He hoped the chorizo would elevate it, but it didn't. It was similar to a Taco Bell beef taco. Overall, decent tacos, and it helped that it was big for the price. We want to visit again, but we'll try other menu items and stick with water. The music was fine. Country and nothing stuck out. Service was fine. She kept only giving a small amount of napkins for a messy dish, which was a bit annoying, but she was very helpful answering our questions for our first time. So she was overall helpful and pleasant.
