When I was in Iloilo, all my family members said to go to Kuya J for good halo halo... My whole mind set when visiting the Philippines was that I would eat halo halo from EVERY PLACE I found it... Until I found the best one. So here we were, my dad and I, at the SM mall looking for Kuya J.
We arrived mid afternoon, totally drenched in sweat from the heat. And we both sat down and immediately ordered a halo halo. These were gigantic, and looked impressive. But further mix, mixing, I found that it was quite disappointing. It was a fine shaved ice, condensed milk, and very few toppings. It literally tasted like milky ice only. Wouldn't recommend this place for halo halo.
I also ordered the watermelon juice - which came as a very pale, pink colored drink. I think this was more of a watermelon shake with milk. And not just plain watermelon juice as it was advertised. read more
