10 TL (~$3.75) as of May 2015. I'll take it.

Such an amazing, filling dinner for under $14 U.S.! Came here after reading the sparse reviews on Yelp and was nevertheless enticed by the pretty lamps and decided to give it a try. I ordered the Turkish meatballs and it came covered in a thin dressing of yoghurt, with sides of fries, rice, salad, and some thin pita bread stuff. That was 26 TL. The beer, a necessity after a long flight, was 10 TL. I had to wait awhile for dinner because there was a big party, but the guy was very nice and kept checking up on me and reassuring me that my food was on its way. I didn't mind much because I wasn't that hungry and I was taking advantage of their free wifi. The place is very close by the main tourist attractions but the price is anything but touristy. Together with the ambiance, the food (and beer heheh) made a great welcome dinner.

Amazing food and EXCELLENT staff! Had the mixed grill for 2 and mixed meze platter. Perfect portions for 3 people! Also lots of fun being able to watch the World cup from right outside the cafe while eating :)

I found this place while walking to the blue Mosque and was intrigued by the pretty colourful lamps. I ordered the spicy meze (which is a spicy tomato dish) and the Turkish meatballs with yogurt. The spicy meze was pretty good however not my style of flavours that I like- but I think that's a personal opinion. The Turkish meatballs with yogurt were really nice. I loved the yogurt on top and dipped the rice and fries in the yogurt. The meatballs were fine however I wish they had more flavour. I'm not an expert in Turkish cuisine but I did enjoy my meal and would eat here again although it wasn't the best meal of my life. The servers were really nice and the one guy speaks English. They have the menus in Turkish and English. And the inside is very charming! Overall I would rate this place a 3.5.

This place had amazing vegan options for me & perfectly good food for my partner. The gentleman who convinced us to come in & sit down was so kind - the service was great, the food was great. The decor is fantastic (lamps, cameras, old things in general). I loved everything about this restaurant, we went back again before leaving. I recommend it to everyone traveling to Istanbul.

A very nice place. Definitely should be on your list if you are visiting Istanbul. The place is colorful and vibrant! It is very cozy. The baklava is good and the tea is a must. When I was there (late summer) it was not crowded. I would say this place is a hidden gem. The staff is kind of out of it, not very attentive, but they were nice.

We very much enjoyed our meal at the Kybele Cafe -- the food and atmosphere were both amazing. Sit outside in the front or in their terrace. I would definitely revisit next time we are in Istanbul. We had the Honey Chicken Steak and the Chicken Sac Tava - as well as an appetizer, drinks and the dessert sampler. Everything tasted amazing and was under $25 per person!

Review Highlights - Kybele Cafe & Restaurant

Everything we ordered--babaganoush, "spicy meze" and herbed yogurt as meze, and spinach pide and a kebab with yogurt, tomatoes and chilliest--was delicious, and among the best meals we had in Turkey.

When I arrived there was only one other customer inside. The restaurant decor was cute and I very comfortable. The staff were friendly and welcoming. This spot was a bit pricey just like most of the restaurants in this touristy area. I had certain Turkish entrees i wanted to try during my vacation. I ordered the Iskender kebab which is beef and pita bread covered with tomato sauce with yogurt on the side. I ordered a side salad to go with it. The dish was very delicious as you can tell in one of my pics. I chatted with some of the staff about life in Istanbul. I was offered some complimentary pomegranate tea before I left and it hit the spot. This is definitely a place to check out when you're in the area.

I had some of THEE BEST chicken kebab I've ever had in this country here. The beef kebab was also tender and flavorful. You cannot go wrong with any of these! The service was quick and prompt, and the servers were great at making recommendations. I came here in the winter so we sat indoors which felt a bit cramped however, there is also outdoor seating during the nicer weather months. If I'm ever back here in Istanbul, I would definitely come back. And if you're reading this, you NEED to try the Old Ottoman!

I highly recommend the chicken kabobs, juicy and well seasoned. Also enjoyed the margaritas, stiff and not overly sweet. Staff is pleasant and attentive. The views are unmatched in the evening. Make your reservation in advance to secure your sunset table. The inside is nice and classy but I simply adore the open air views from the roof. The birds really set off the skyline and you can see several of the mosques around. Not SUPER expensive but it is in the higher end price wise compared to their surrounding competition -- 100% worth it in my book. I will definitely go again on my next visit. Glad I could introduce it to a friend this go round. The only thing I disliked about this place is the "dining dome" as I called it. A portion of the roof now offers seating in a large plastic dome. The dome is scratched up and obstructs the view of the city but does protect diners from the wind. I was not a fan of this dome. I'm sure it's something someone saw on the internet and implemented .. I hope they get rid of it, it's super unnecessary. Otherwise -- LOVE!

After two days having some great meals in Istanbul of that type, we looked for something different. Not far from Galata Tower, GK is on a side street with little foot traffic. It has a big modern sign back off the street and one of the operators saw us hesitating where to enter and waved us in from the front entrance. Inside it has whimsical and funny decorations and serious books mounted on the wall, but is not atmospheric, more like a diner. BUT the food is displayed in a case, hot and cold entrees separated, so you can see what you are ordering. You pick what you want and they assemble your choices on a plate and bring it to the table. Hot entrees included chicken bites in a tomato sauce and chicken with onions, lamb stew and beef and plenty of salad and vegetable choices in the cold display case. The group of men running the place that night were low key but personable, answering our questions about food items and Turkish literature. Service was prompt but understated and helpful. Our group of four had a great time and the menu is diverse enough that everyone found choices that pleased them. But remember, we came in expecting something very good other than doner kebap and were not disappointed!
