I want to warn everybody about a deceptive plan that this dentist has. They encourage you to sign up for a yearly maintenance plan which includes a couple of cleanings and x-rays. My husband and I signed up for this and unfortunately my husband has not been able to use his second appointment. I called today to find out how to get a refund or to transfer his unused cleaning to my account and I was told I could not do that basically it's a use it or lose it proposition. I was not told this when I signed up for this and this is a total scam. WATCH OUT!!! read more

Dr. Smits and staff have given me good, comfortable, well advised dental care for a number of procedures like crowns, crown replacements, fillings, root canal diagnoses - plus good dental advice. -Referrals as well to a top endodontic practice nearby for comfortable, successful root canals which elevate the maligned procedure from a watchword for misery into pleasant, comfortable and successful visits. -They alerted me recently when a next-day appointment opened up. I was overdue and would have had to delay too long for cleaning & exam without their heads-up. Very pleased to have the services much sooner. read more

It was easy to make an appointment, and he was very professional which set me at ease. They handled everything with the insurance for me and I couldn't be happier! I had switched to this dentist because it had good reviews. I went in for bleeding gums and was suggested deep cleaning. I was surprised to find that the dentist was not going to do the deep cleaning, which is not the case at others dentist. I went ahead trusting the hygienist as she was experienced (though my gut feeling said I should not) After few days of deep cleaning my wisdom tooth was swollen, this was so painful that I could not open my mouth, I could eat or drink. This was so painful that I could not sleep at night. The clinic was closed for a week. The referred dentist was out of town as well, so I was left to find another dentist myself. The only option was to go back to my old dentist who answered my call while he was at a wedding in way coast. He treated tooth abscess when he returned back, even though I was no longer a patient. I knew the mistake I had made a mistake by trusting a clinic who treats patients with hygienist. I transferred my records to downtown vs coming here. This is FYI for new patients. Wow! You folks need to check out this great dentist! My teeth went from crappy to happy in two months (I hadn't been to the dentist in decades!) He started with my front upper three teeth, then proceeded to fix five more, pulled two and built me a huge partial with 7 teeth in it! Now I can smile and eat all my favorite food again. Dr. Smits didn't just fix my teeth, he gave me back my life! All the teeth look natural, and the partial fits like a glove. I went to Dr Smits for a second opinion on some crown work. He agreed it needed to be done but the cost was significantly less than my previous dentist had quoted. Over the three visits for the two crowns, they were friendly and very efficient. Everyone from the front office to the hygienists and Dr. Smits are wonderful and caring people. I was impressed by how quick I was checked in. I had a thorough dental cleaning. Later Dr Kyle Smits came in checked out my teeth and recommended few things required to be done on my teeth. I asked them to check with my insurance and they said they would call me after they did. They took care of everything. Everyone was nice and courteous. I will recommend them to anyone who needs a new dentist. Parking can be an issue but I went during none busy hours so I easily found street parking across from the office. read more

I had broke my dental bridge while working temporarily in Seattle. I didn't have a local dentist and I could not go home due to covid 19. As soon as Dr. Smits could start working again he got me in and prepped out the bridge and got it replaced with very little discomfort. I've been going to Dr. Smits' office for many years now and am always happy with their service. They are very professional and also very friendly. I'm typically there for routine cleanings, but I have also had a number of cavities filled, along with a mouth guard formed. Dr. Smits has a very calm demeanor, so it makes procedures like filling cavities that much easier. They are also proactive about how I can improve my oral health...and over the years I'm certainly seeing a positive difference. Dr. Smits is friendly and professional. I had Invisalign done through Dr. Smits. The timeline was right on, and he was thorough with checking the movement of my teeth. He also set me up for success with a retainer to avoid movement. I'm three years out and am so glad I spent the six months straightening my teeth! My kids also love going to the dentist. The dental hygienists are friendly and work well with kids. They get a toy and cool toothbrush at the end that makes it a fun event. read more

Highly impressed by empathetic and kind office staff and great work by Dr. Kyle Smits himself. I got into this office for the first time on very short notice. I found myself in the middle of a dental emergency (an extremely painful abscessed tooth) on a Friday morning and my usual dentist was unavailable/unreachable. (ugh). A friend then referred me to this office and they were welcoming me to come in within the next 30 minutes to be seen!!! I met Dr Kyle and he assessed the situation with an xray and an exam, determining that I was in need of a root canal and had an infection in the tooth area. He gave me all the information & prescriptions I needed heading in the weekend, and I scheduled the root canal for the first available appointment, which happened to be a about 11 days later. (infection improved and I could wait. Seeing an endodontist sooner was an option but it would have been much more costly). I have since had that root canal, and the procedure went very well. He was very clear on what he would be doing, asked if I had any questions, kept me informed along the way and of course, #1 priority to me, he made sure it was pain-free! He seemed to have genuine interest in my comfort level, which I appreciate. He is a young(ish) dentist, guessing probably around my age (30s) and I've heard he took over the practice from his father, a longtime dentist. I appreciate the family business aspect, the longevity of the practice and the experience that brings. His office staff were also some of the kindest I've come across in Seattle. When I discovered and went to Dr. Smits for the first time, the Wicked Witch of the Pacific North West of a tooth that had been needing a root canal for well over a year had finally reared its ugly head. I was in extreme and debilitating pain. I made a call to one dental office in west Seattle, which could not help. Upon receiving my call, Dr. Smits' office staff were compassionate and found a way to immediately accommodate me. I found Dr. Smits to be so kind, sensitive, patient, educational and of the highest honesty and ethics. My tooth was beyond saving, and, while he could have continued to work on me much to his own financial benefit, referred me to another dental surgeon for the further help I needed. After going to him at the last minute in an emergency situation/last minute, my treatment was not exploited in terms of billing. I have found my dentist! I'm very grateful to him and his exceptional staff. read more

Kyle Smits and his team are really good. My family and I have been clients here for two years now and have only had great experiences. First, the care is excellent. I didn't use to think there was a difference between one dental hygienist and another until I went to Smits office. I now think there is. The two hygienists I've had in my four or five cleanings have been simply outstanding. Second, the office staff is great. I've had several bad experiences with billing type stuff with other dental offices. There's none of that here. It's easy scheduling, easy billing, with no weirdness. Third, Smits himself is warm, professional, and I always get the sense that he is telling me exactly what he would tell himself if his teeth were in my condition. We moved forty-five minutes away from West Seattle about a year ago now and have continued to make the commute for this dentist and his team. They are simply outstanding. read more
