Well, nothing against Dr Reed. He is great. I've been going there for several years with no issues. This year they stopped being a preferred provider for Delta Dental. The communication and honesty has been good regarding this. Unfortunately, what my insurance pays for 100% is now going to cost me $150. I work hard for my benefits and to claim it is the insurances fault is a complete lie. In these uncertain economic times, I will find another dentist who accepts Delta. Update: after posting this review I was harassed by Dr Reed via email and phone. He emailed me to remove this review. And then he called. All this while I am working. Then I get another email a couple hours later from him because I didn't answer his call (I had a full day of work meetings! Yes, others are busy!) telling me how to feel and that I don't respect his small business and I've taken this personally. So, to respond to Dr Reed, you yourself bad mouthed one of those dentist I have a low rating to. Please don't make this as if I'm the angry woman. I never had a problem with you; I actually liked you and you office, just your business charging me $150 for a cleaning when I have insurance. After the emails and phone calls, I now have a problem with you! Your chair side manners are a facade! There are plenty of dentists in West Seattle, I'm sure I will find one. I am stretching my fingers and neck before typing because I have so many great things to say about this place. It has taken me two and a half years to find a dentist I can trust with my pearly whites. It is Dr. Garret Reed at Westview Dental. I went to a dentist when I first moved here in 2012 and was fed a script about dentistry, x-rays, and a recommendation for 5 fillings. Dr. Garret takes time to listen to my concerns and discusses solutions with me, even if the solution is to hold off on treatment to see if the issue resolves itself. (Again, he's awesome!) I am just so impressed with the place, too. The space looks and feels 10 times better! There's colorful photography art in each room (taken by Dr. Garret himself) that lightens the space and makes it less bland/sterile looking. It's so clean. The staff is super friendly and I could tell they really care about me and all get along. I am a very busy woman and drive from Wallingford in north Seattle to West Seattle, happily. I had a new patient appointment set for 8:30. The business hours on their voicemail state they open at 8am. I arrived at 8:15 to an empty office and locked door. I waited until 8:30 with no result. I further waited until 8:40 knocking on the door several times, also with no result. At 8:40 an employee walked up to the door asking if I had an appointment. The computer system was checked and my appointment confirmed. I was advised the person that I would be seeing would not arrive until 9:00. This is completely unprofessional and unacceptable. I recently moved to West Seattle from Alaska and was in need of a local dentist after I broke a crown. My wife, a lifetime Seattle native, recommended Dr. Reed's practice at Westview Dental. She's been a patient for years. Dr. Reed's office quickly got me in to fit a temporary crown to hold me over while the permanent was being made. They even got me back in earlier than expected when a slot opened up on the schedule. When Dr. Reed put in the permanent crown, he wasn't completely pleased with the color match, even though it was just a rear molar. He suggested that we have another one made and took care of it. Very impressive! What a terrific overall experience!! From Sarah and Kelly at the front desk to Melisa, Dr. Reed's dental assistant, to Dr. Reed himself, everyone I interacted with was friendly, caring, funny (at least they laughed at my jokes) and at the same time, it's a professionally run practice. It just seems like a practice where everyone is genuinely friendly and helpful. I was never kept waiting for more than a couple of minutes. I was in search of a dentist in the West Seattle area and found Westview through my insurance company's website. I've had my previous dentist for years, so was very guaranteed to find a new one. Making an appointment was painless and when I arrived I found the waiting room to be super nice and welcoming, coffee, magazines and a welcoming crew. I suspected I need a bunch of work and I was right. Doctor Reed was super great about explaining the different procedures he was doing and why and went over the results with me right on the computer in front of me. The whole staff has been great including the billing folks to help with my insurance. At Westview they sell electric tooth brushes at pass through prices and I learned how it could help me to use one. I did purchase a pretty fancy one and have loved using it so far. This is not a place for children or for us as a family. This was our first & last visit. They may have toys in the waiting room and stickers after a check up but their friendliness is null to none. We were on time but forgot our intake form. NBD I filled out another one which took some time. None of the staff introduced themselves not even Lisa. Considering a 2 year would be a bit nervous in a setting like this there was little comfort from staff. My son handled it well and didn't cry thank goodness. I will try a dentist that is pediatric specific. Someone who offers suggestions not commands. No one said goodbye or have a nice day or thanks for coming and supporting our business. I has been searching for a dental office that would do a good job of cleaning my teeth and I finally found one with Dr.Garret and his team. The team is super professional and friendly. When I walked into the office the two staffs at the front desk greeted me by my first name. What a friendly and welcoming gesture. The hygienists are knowledgeable and thorough in the cleaning. Typically my cleaning takes about an hour. Lisa is so accommodating with my needs and check in periodically with me during the cleaning to make sure I am fine.
