The accountant we'd used for years sold his business to another firm, which I guess, unfortunately, was later bought out or merged with Kyle P. Nagy, CPA. The company e-mailed a single page "intake form" instead of the multi-page organizer I was used to, ostensibly because the organizer was "too confusing." The intake form was useless to me, so I e-mailed to have an actual tax organizer e-mailed to me. I got mine right away, but my sister asked for an organizer twice without any response. I had to e-mail the company and ask for an organizer on her behalf, which was mailed instead of e-mailed. One page of the organizer CLEARLY asks you to check whether or not you want your taxes e-filed. I know I'm a dinosaur, but I have not for the last 30 years and never will e-file my taxes unless the government forces me to, so I checked "Do NOT file electronically file the federal return" and "Do NOT file electronically file the state return." For 30 years, when my taxes were ready, the old firms simply mailed the completed forms back to me to mail in along with pre-addressed envelopes. Not Kyle P. Nagy. I got a message that my taxes were done, and I should come pick them up. So I had to call them and ask that they just mail me my taxes. The receptionist attributed the mistake to a "production error." When I got my tax copies back, they had enclosed an e-file authorization! So I called and told them that I would mail in my taxes myself and wanted paper copies since I would never e-file. The receptionist said she would have to find out what to do--she acted like she had never heard of such a thing! When she called back the next day, she said I would have to pay $25 dollars extra to get paper copies because they would have to print the paper copies and send envelopes! What? In other words, if they had just done as they were asked on their own company's organizer in the first place, I wouldn't have to pay $25? So I have to pay for their screw up? I thought that was ludicrous and asked why I couldn't just make copies of the client copies they had sent me and send them in. She first said that it was because not all the pages had to be sent in. When I asked why she couldn't just tell me which pages to send over the phone, she said she didn't have my return in front of her (well, why not look it up on your precious computer?). Then she said they would have to prepare the envelopes with special addresses because the returns go to different places! Duh, the address to send the returns to is printed right on the forms! I've been doing it this way all my adult life, so I think I can figure out which pages to send in and where to send them to. Then she said she would have to talk to the CPA. When she came back, she said I couldn't just send in copies of my client copies because the CPA didn't sign them! No way is his signature worth $25--it's not even worth 25 cents! And why, pray tell, didn't he sign the client copies in the first place? Maybe because the company was already planning to cheat me... With so many problems, now I'm worried that the tax returns weren't prepared correctly. And, not that it makes any difference, but they had sent me a comparison with my 2021 taxes. Funny how none of the information was correct since I did my own taxes in 2021! Obviously, I would never use this firm again. read more
