Abbie did a great job of capturing our annual family photos!…read more My son has a terrible habit of over smiling in photos so Abbie had to use her considerable skill and experience to distract him and otherwise get him looking natural. She also went the extra mile by helping us include our family dog, Jack, in some of the photos. I think we lucked out with a perfect sunny crisp fall day which helped but we ended up with the best collection of family photos we've ever had taken. I would definitely recommend her to anyone needing photos who wants to work with a professional and experienced photographer who also has a great demeanor and personality.

I loved being able to sign up online for a time and then again for photo pick up. She has different packages for every budget and allows for bringing a sibling to the shoot for much needed family shots, for a reasonable charge. She also has this great system for filling out contracts, sending payment, asking all your dumb 'what should they wear?!' Questions and gives lots of helpful information about make-up and glasses and everything else so you get a great photo. Most importantly, my daughter was at ease with her immediately so our photos are natural looking and beautiful. She puts time in up front getting to know the subject (and parent!) so she knows what the goal is and the personality and then tailors the shoot as needed. Highly recommended.

Jen is the absolute best! We have had the pleasure of working with her twice and would recommend…read moreher to anyone. Our first experience was when she was taking portraits for a relative's 50th anniversary celebration. She was taking individual family portraits and caught some amazing pictures of my family. Not only did she catch some great posed pictures, but she also captured some priceless candid moments of my husband & myself as well as my sons in between poses which show the true essence of each of our personalities and relationships. They are truly amazing and when I saw them, they instantly became my favorite pictures that she took. She has a gift for capturing the most precious, genuine moments. After that experience, my son insisted that Jen be the one to take his senior pictures because she made the whole previous photography session so comfortable. Jen brought enthusiasm and a sense of adventure with her for his Senior Session. She took her time and made sure my son was confortable with the shots. She even climbed into the craziest of spots to apease my son's request to have shots done my an inacessible river...she truly should have charged hazard pay but insead joked about the climb and was all in for the adventure! The images were incredible and the day was full of laughter; it was so relaxed and fun. Jen once again went the extra mile for us and it was truly a day of treasured memories which resulted in precious images. Jen is truly incredible and if you want someone who is willing to listen to you as well as honestly work with you, Jen is the person you are looking for. I recommend her with the highest level of confidence and satisfaction. She is so easy to work with and we have amazing pictures to treasure for a lifetime! Thank you, thank you, thank you!

She had multiple ideas for shooting my daughter's senior photos and we especially loved the "urban" look idea she shot in the Historic Third Ward. She made my daughter feel very comfortable as she never had to pose for a professional photographer before and was not sure what to do. Jen was quick to get our proofs to us and it was convenient to go on her website to view all of them. I like that she even takes care of sending the year book photo to my daughter's high school. I highly recommend Jen/Red Petal for any professional photography needs.

Everything else, I felt, was a fail. From the beginning, the selling tactics used were so high-pressure, Immediately, I was told that $10 would secure my "great" deal and hold a spot for the photo session. I looked around at the pictures on display and saw the cute set-up for the children's dressing area, the clothing choices and loved the idea of having old-fashioned looking pics for my child. Day-of, I was told that the photographer was not there and that the person I had spoken with previously to set up a re-schedule had mistakenly scheduled me at the wrong time. If you have little ones, you know the importance of scheduling everything out precisely. Basically, a wasted trip to Southridge and no apologies by the manager (never did get his name). The red flags were already waving. Next, on the day of our photo session, I was greeted warmly but realized quite quickly that the person taking the photos was the same person who was doing reception the first day I went there. The ladies working there were pleasant enough, but because the person taking the photos was clearly inexperienced working with children, she had a hard time getting my child to respond to her. What was funny was that the friendly receptionist knew what to do. Although the pictures turned out cute, the problem with many of them was that they were cut at such an angle, you could clearly see the backdrop/floor cut-offs. I'm not a professional, but I've had enough photo sessions myself to know that you're not supposed to see those lines unless they're clear, defined, smooth and the ground does not appear dirty. When ordering the pictures, I was given the schpeel of selecting the most expensive package there is ($400 is a bit much for milestone pictures) - oh, but I caught the "discount" because I signed up at "just the right time!" I decided to spend the $100 at that point. Prior to ordering the pictures though, I specified a few be "cleaned up" a bit as the overall images were not as professional as I'd like (and want to pay for). Again, these were things that a professional photographer should have and would have noticed upon taking the pictures. Upon picking up the photos though, I was ticked off to see that this had not been done. 2nd trip wasted here and upon asking what could be done about the error, was given a discount - no apology (some businesses truly don't know how far a simple apology goes). However, I did get to see the leopard print bra entirely exposed beneath the netted top of the receptionist? Wait, that wasn't for my eyes.... Overall, this was such a messy process, unbelievably unprofessional experience and one I would never seek to repeat again. Lesson learned. I would never recommend anyone I know nor can't stand to go there, either.
