The second night, we were successful! We ordered moose and "Nobel" meatballs, which are beef and reindeer and absolutely off the chain. But, the sauce service was hilarious. There is no way this sauce is gonna cover all of these balls! Would I order again knowing this, sure! The Nobel meatballs are flavorful enough to not need it but my search for the best meatball in Sweden continues...

It's good, but not that good. No, really, when you look up Swedish meatballs in Stockholm,…read moreeverywhere will tell you to go to Meatballs For The People and that's fair. It's a fun spot with all different kinds of meatballs in a hip neighborhood. But I didn't find it to be the best of all the Swedish meatballs I devoured. This has been on my go-to list forever. So many people had recommended Meatballs For The People; thus, I added it to my list and found myself in Stockholm so the occasion arrived. I walked over to this restaurant and on a weekday, the line was out the door. Even then, there was a line and by the time I left close to 9pm, there was a line outside the door. It's that popular. And no, you can't make reservations. You just need to suck it up and wait. Despite the line out the door, it went by surprisingly quicker than I expected. I waited about 20 minutes during prime dinner hour. I can't imagine what it's like on a weekend. But I have a feeling that only tourists go here as most everyone in the restaurant seemed to be from elsewhere, including yours truly. I ordered the og, the Swedish meatballs made with pork and beef, which comes with mashed potatoes and lingonberry sauce. I also ordered a side of garlic bread to soak up the gravy and a lingonberry soda. When in Sweden. It didn't take too long to get the food, and it was good. I wished the gravy had been more abundant, which I always think is the best part, but it was a good dish. It's just not my favorite. What's cool about Meatballs For The People is that you can try different kinds of meats, including elk, deer, etc. for your meatballs. And if you don't want meatballs then good luck because that's really the only protein they serve. You don't have to get it with the traditional mashed potatoes and lingonberry sauce plate though, they have meatballs with salad, meatballs with pasta, etc. Just get the meatballs though, obviously. In addition to food, they sell merch here and partner with a local brewery to make their own beer, which they sold out of during my visit, unfortunately. But do try if you're here. Overall, I'm glad to have crossed Meatballs For The People off my list.

I had a bowl of the fish stew, which came with a side of cream that was like sour cream. I watched some other gentlemen take a spoonful and put it in their soup and eat it. That fish stew was hearty and delicious. They also serve organic beers here and I had a Stockholm Organic Lager, which tasted like a German Pilsner. It's not a huge place, and when we got there, the tables at ground level were full. They have outside seating, but seeing how this was early January, we didn't want to eat outside, even though it is covered (but still a bit open). They have these "stadium-style" seats with little tables, though, and we climbed up there. They have everything partially made, and when you order, they put it together. There were only two people I could see handling it, but service was great. Some of the best food I ate all trip.

It's a very small place, so a lot of people take their food to go. There are a few tables along the window and then there's stadium seating along one of the smaller walls. It's a cool concept, but it's kind of hard to climb up, especially when you're trying to climb around people. It does provide a good view of the restaurant though. It's fast casual, so you order at the counter and they bring your food to you. The service was pretty fast. The food is incredibly good. We did one of the dishes with meat and the other with vegetarian. We got the sauces they recommended with it. It had so much flavor and tasted very fresh. I would highly recommend coming here while you're in Stockholm. We enjoyed it way more than the places you have to pay the times the price.

However the five dishes we shared weren't all very good, the spicy cauliflower had a distinct burnt flavour, the stuffed mini aubergines were very vinegary and quite awful. The interior is VERY dark and despite the restaurant being quite empty when we arrived 5pm-ish we were seated in the darkest inner room, at the smallest table right at the kitchen and the entrance to the inner room were everyone passed by. The pitabread (very dry) was stuffed in a plastic bag in a basket on every table. When the food arrived it was hart near impossible to fit everything on the small table for two. I did however enjoy the patata brava-like dish, the mushroom/onion/garlic, the beetroots and the passionfruit juice. And I'd love to try the other vegan dishes on the menu, and I'd be happy to give a 4 if the next visit will be more overall satisfying.

We ordered 4 plates between us and that was plenty. Highly recommend the hummus (it really is good) but it doesn't come with pita. The fried cheese rolls were really good but super rich so be wary. We ordered the house red wine and it was actually good, also the service was pretty fast and super friendly!! Great option for a low key dinner.
