There are so many details that make this place great. Antique fixtures on the barn, an old country store, an old Ford pickup--the details are never ending. Cicadas and crickets buzz through the forest, adding to the relaxation of a morning cup of coffee on the porch swing. Felicia is an amazing cook! I so appreciated that she made delicious, local dishes. We also had our 1 year old son with us and she went above and beyond to make sure he had what he needed. Our stay at Le Village was short, but it was magical. After spending the summer in Dallas, the lush Louisiana landscape was a great escape. If you're looking for tranquility, stay here. The price of the pillow and case were minimal but the whole incident has left a bad taste in my mouth. Lyn barely spoke to us while we were there but seemed pleasant enough until after we left. There were no check lists to say what should of been there, therefore we have no way of knowing I the pillow was even there when we got there. It is unethical to charge customers for something that could of been a mistake on their part.

This home was built by French born rice and oil merchant Emile Daboval in 1892 and has been meticulously restored and furnished with antiques. Rooms are super clean (we're both clean freaks and very picky about room cleanliness) and well appointed with everything you need, including plush towels and starched sheets. Soft drinks, water, and ice are provided in a small room downstairs. Smooth chicory coffee service is quietly brought to your door each morning, followed by a delicious breakfast served downstairs in a beautiful, country chic dining room. We recently enjoyed cream cheese stuffed French toast with Louisiana strawberries, locally smoked bacon, hash brown potatoes seasoned to perfection, and freshly squeezed orange juice. On another occasion, yummy ham and cheese muffins and locally made andouille sausage were in the menu. Seriously----restaurant quality Cajun cuisine created by Martha in her kitchen! It's a former boarding house that has been turned into an incredibly quaint Bed and Breakfast, with seven rooms and one suite. Two porches and a lovely terrace overlook Bayou Teche and the famed Crawfish bridge (not edible). The owner, Mary Lynn, has a healthy dose of graciousness and kick-in-the-pants humor. She had biscuits and cookies ready for us everyday which we devoured! It's rare that you meet someone who goes out of their way to make sure you're happy and enjoying yourself. She drove us 45 minutes to one of her favorite places- The Blue Moon. We planned to stay one night and were so thrilled with what we had found that we decided to stay for three.

We were met a few mins after we arrived by Miss Donna she was very friendly and we quickly felt right at home. She showed us around the common areas explained door codes made us feel like we were family. We met Casey and he brought to our attention all the new art work that was acquired for the common rooms, as well as some more history of the house and the fact that soon there will be a small scale model of the house before it was remodeled hand crafted from memory i spired by a 96 year old man that grew up in the house but lives close by. We chose the Fais Do Do suit little private walk way off the courtyard but we look forward to staying in the main house next time. The house was built in 1890 and I have to say I was never hot anywhere in the house or our suit. Louisiana is hot and humid lol The courtyard is beautiful a very nice gentleman was outside hanging lights above the courtyard I can't imagine them not being there they look amazing. Be sure and check for books in the Parlor for info about the B&B history. Our suit had a mini fridge, Keurig, very nice king size towels lots of pillows and lots of plugs, Free WiFi, comfortable bed very spacious rooms, cable tv, beverages and ice are in the guest fridge in the main house. We had breakfast in the sun room at 8:30 delicious eggs, bacon, and biscuits with OJ and Coffee but breakfast changes daily. We will definitely be returning and look forward to staying in each of the rooms. The staff make this place extra special!! And the science museum is right down the road couple miles.
