We stayed in a cabin over Labor Day weekend. My son fell asleep on the couch without a shirt on and woke up covered in itchy bites. It took multiple urgent care visits and a few weeks for him to recover. I notified staff at check out and followed up twice via email. I was told management would be contacting me and they never did. read more

if I could put a minus I would. stayed there July 4th weekend 4 nights. two other campers were with us. the first day the golf carts flying by our camper throwing dust, loud not good music. two in particular 16 year olds I have their names, but I'm going to call them Beavis and Butthead, harassed us all weekend. I called the Police the last night we were there, for banging on my camper door at 1:00 am in the morning, they hid from the officers, like cowards they are. Two of our camper units took cold showers, couldn't run water heater and A/C at the same time. To drink coffee we hooked up to the 20 amp plug outside, couldn't use our microwave because their was not enough power except to run the A/C. Campground security is a joke and all their RULES are ONLY meant for out of town campers, not for the frequent every weekend flyers. NEEDS UPGRADING (Electrical and Roads) UNDER AGED DRINKING I've been camping all my life and NEVER had I experienced anything like this. It was like being in the twilight zone. read more

We have spent a couple of weekends here with friends. It is really a cool camp site with a lot of nice amenities! The lake with fresh water running through it and all of the blow ups for kids and adults to play on are neat. The walk up bar on the beach is refreshing and delicious. Very clean camping area with its own little store. Definitely recommend this neat family camping area in the middle of nowhere....lol. read more

I have NEVER in my life gone camping (besides in a tent) and had to provide my own sheets, blankets, pillowcases, bath towels and kitchen towels before. You must bring your own EVERYTHING in the cottages. The drain stop in the bathtub is not the correct size so the water drains as you are bathing. The hot/cold water in the bathtub is labeled backwards and the water is extremely hot, so pay attention when adjusting your water so you do not burn yourself. We had to ask for a broom as one was not in the cottage. It is a pet friendly campground to an extent. We could not enjoy the beach because pets aren't allowed there but you are also not allowed to leave them in the cottage. You must buy drinks/food at the barn and the beach. At least at Poche's when there is a band playing you can bring your own ice chest. Do not try to reserve a golf cart. You go to pick it up (we were delayed some picking it up due to the heavy rains) and they tell you it is "spoken for" then call you at almost the end of the day the last full day you are there and ask why you never picked it up because they "had one waiting". Yes, the one that they told us was "spoken for". And there was absolutely no accountability on their end. We were in the store in person and my MIL told them who she was, and she had one reserved and absolutely nothing, blank stares. The only reason we were there is because my MIL wanted a family trip. This campground is trying to be like Margaritaville while providing the bare minimum possible. It is not the kind of campground to have all these extra costs on top of the cost of cottages that are not even supplied. Other people may like this campground, but I personally do not think it's worth the money. And let's not forget, they allow a person who has been in the news for some extremely bad things to sell burgers outside of the barn where there were many women and children around. ​I was here for an event. The event and the grounds were great. Spent time int eh dance hall which also served as dining room. Bathrooms were clean, I did not see the showers. The lake is more what we would call a pond, but talking to some of the locals it has always been a favorite spot. read more

Wanting to take a little out of the way camping trip adventure, I decided on Lakeview Park, only 2 hours and 45 minutes from New Orleans. My plan was to stay at the park and then do a bike ride in the morning over to the famous Fred's Lounge in Mamou. I called the park and booked a tent campsite. I didn't mention that I'd be arriving late, but neither did they mention what I'd need to do if that was the case. We arrived to find the office closed, and us having zero idea of where to go. The park is 99% RV sites and there's no clear area for tents. We just drove around asking people and finally figured out where to set up. We absolutely loved this park. Everyone was so welcoming and friendly. There's a small beach on the property for sunning and funning. But the best part of the park? There's a barn that holds Cajun dances every Saturday night, completely with a live Cajun band. It's a hoot! There's always fun activities going on. While we were there, there was a haunted house, and kids running around trick-or-treating! My only real complaint was that the mosquitos were out of control. They really need to do some spraying or figure out how to get that situation under control. read more

Cajun camping 2.45 hrs outside New Orleans- Eunice, LA! Tenting spots were reserved ahead of time ($20 nt), but the office was closed around 7 when we pulled up. RV confirmations were on the door but none for tenters- this was mainly an RV park. We found a tent spot behind the old church (away from the beach with the well fed mosquitos)- was perfect. Theres a nice small man-made beach, lake, party barn, and community shower/restrooms (only 2). Everyone rode around the park in go-carts. We got free rides around the lake- three times. We also brought our bicycle's so we could ride around-best idea. It's a small park, but making local friends and hanging out is what its all about. Went first weekend of October- weather was perfect, but Mosquitos were abundant and jurrasic...must have OFF at all times. Seriously. There were halloween trick-o-treaters, a haunted house even on Saturday night. Everyone was out bbqing and having a good time all weekend. We got fed, liquord up, and OFF'd by the gracious RV-ers. Everyone is usually in by 11 at night and so we and another couple were the only partiers. BUT if your not too hungover or still awake from Friday on Saturday morning from 8am- 2pm- GO to Fred's Lounge! The party bar only open Saturday morning. We biked 7 miles from camp to find everyone already dancing away to a live local cajun band with Hot Damn shots being passed around. Got a ride back to camp so we werent road kill (from drunk bicycling). Saturday night there's always a cajun band playing in the barn- we danced on with the locals and grabbed drinks at the bar in the barn. Sunday came too quickly but we were over the mosquitos and satisfied with the weekend full of fun at Lakeview!! read more

Great little weekend getaway. Fishing and swimming are the main attractions here. They have a small lake with a beach. The lake has floating slides and obstacles. The beach has plenty of umbrellas and palm trees for shade. We enjoyed playing some beach volleyball and then cooling off in the water. They play music and have a small refreshment bar. On Saturday night there was a band playing on the beach. There were a couple of small playgrounds for the little ones and a basketball hoop for the older kids. Everything is family-friendly. The only drawbacks were the large number of daytime use people who park anywhere they like, walk through your campgrounds, and fill up the beach rather quickly. The mosquitos also drove us inside early every night. All things considered, we had a blast and I'm certain that we'll return. read more

This place was okay for a first time experience at a campground. The cottage I stayed in was nice. The decor was cute, and the bed was comfy. I loved sitting on the little porch watching the sun set over the lake. There aren't really any walking trails that I could find. The only activities I noticed was fishing by the lake or swimming in their man made beach which had turtles swimming around. A lot of things were closed during my stay, so there wasn't much to do. read more

A nice safe environment for families to go too. The beach is nice and relaxing. Only downfall as I can see for now is: a better washing off station once leaving the beach or more than one. Also same goes with the restroom. There should be a restroom only behind it and one more set (of2) like the building they have now. Reason being many people wait in line to o to the restroom. Some are visiting so they don't have a camper or their tamper or facilities are further distance. Some just need the restroom and not to shower and some may need both. Waiting is frustrating for anyone no matter time frame or situation. But over all nice, clean and peaceful to go too. read more
