Besides a nice in-house baked bread selection, Automne offers wonderful mouth-watering sweet pastries and savory baked items. So hard to chose! Along with my Noeud à La Cardamome (a.k.a. Cardamom roll topped with pearl sugar), I ordered a Roulé Fraise Rhubarb (a.k.a. Strawberry Rhubarb Danish) and a Matcha Oat Latte. Able to relax outdoors in their section with cafe tables. One little surprise, the Danish's drizzle was not caramel but peanut butter flavored. Typically not a fan of peanut butter, but the drizzle was small enough not to distract from the rest of the yummy pastry. All was fantastic! Definitely would recommend Automne and plan to keep it in mind the next time I'm in Montreal!

The only items left were a few cookies and a chocolatine (pain au chocolat), so I ordered the chocolatine for $3.75 CAD. The bakery itself is very compact. Inside, there aren't tables for sitting, just a small counter to stand at, but there are a few outdoor tables right by the door. The staff were friendly and helpful in explaining the items available. They also mentioned that weekends usually bring more variety, including fruit tarts, while weekdays focus mainly on croissants. The chocolatine I tried was good--crispy on the outside, soft and tender inside, exactly what you'd expect from a quality bakery. I wouldn't say it was the best I've ever had, but it was still enjoyable. If you're in the neighborhood, Automne Boulangerie is worth a visit, especially earlier in the day or on a weekend to get the full range of their croissants and tarts.

Others on the other hand, do. Choose between window stools or the shareable high-top tables+stools in the middle of the shop to sit a bit and enjoy your coffee or pastry. Service was outstanding and price was reasonable. The energy isn't rushed but do be mindful that this location is small. The sourdough Baguette we got was anything but 'chain' and had that perfect crispness and soft inside that said, 'homemade'. My Matcha Latte was good and hubs liked his decaf Cap. My Chocolate Croissant had a wonderful glob of dark chocolate goodness in the center and wished I had another. Their kouign-amann was heavy; considering what I've read about its light interior, this one fell short. Both the baguette and my chocolate croissant were the all-around winners out of the few other things we picked up- but will keep these guys in mind for these two items and hot beverages.

Tried the chocolatine and on the outside looks huge!! It's actually just air lol (see cross section photo). It was alright. Finally I picked up a spinach quiche. Toasted it up a bit in the oven to warm it up. It's simply made with a good amount of spinach on top. The quiche has a strong spinach flavor and the egg portion was just a bit salty for me.
