This is a MUST TRY if you are ever in the Montreal area. I saw this on Instagram and I'm sure lots of other people did since the place was very busy. Every location I went to was full but the line goes by quickly. This specific location is in old Montreal so if you're doing sightseeing it's a great spot to chill. The cafe crema is insane. The texture and flavor of this is something I've never had before. The coffee flavor is strong but not offensively strong. Even if you're not a fan of coffee I'd still suggest you try it. The affogato was lovely with the espresso and gelato mixing it creates that lovely icy texture on the outside. It is more pricey so I'd say the safe crema is the way to go. read more

I stumbled upon this gem around the corner from my hotel under less-than-ideal circumstances--we were heading out at the crack of dawn for a 13-hour tour to Quebec City, and my hotel's breakfast (promised at 6 AM) was MIA at 6:20. This place was so fun and delicious. I felt like I was in Italy again. The service was very friendly considering you may not know what to get or take a minute to order, didn't feel rushed. We got the Caffe Freddo with sugar and the Latte Freddo with sugar and both were icey and very good espressos. We also got a pistachio croissant that wasn't overly sweet but the filling was Devine. We got the cookies that look like an S and they were an orange cookie and our favorite. The pistachio amaretto cookie was good but best to dunk in a hot coffee. Absolutely a gem here in Old Montreal. On our first visit we chatted with a man in line who said he went literally 3 times in one day with this wife during their whole trip here and got the same thing each time - a caffè crema. My husband and I were originally going to get an affogato but we switched our order to this instead. A caffe crema is like an espresso thick milkshake but even better than what I am describing. On my last day in Montreal, I had to try Cafe Olimpico. I visited around 10:30am on a Monday and there was a decent line. This location isn't very big and have limited seating. I was so sad when they ran out of their Pistachio Croissant! I would have expected that there would be more pastries available for such a popular spot. I went for the Pistachio Bombalone instead. It was fluffy and it had a good amount of sweet pistachio cream. The coffee honestly wasn't anything that special to me. I enjoyed it but it wasn't memorable. I followed the TikTok hype and decided to check it out while visiting Montreal. Im so happy I fell for the hype! It was snowing all morning and we powered through and made it. It's located near the old port so it's a very good location. It's not that big so seating is limited. We had the latte and the taste wasnt bad, but not what I was expecting. I wish I would have looked at the menu beforehand because I saw customers with some delicious looking coffee. We also tried the mortadella sandwich and omg this was so good. Fantastic! It's hard to find a cup of coffee that blows you away like this. Milk is steamed to perfection, perfectly silky. This cafe has a couple of locations, and this one is in the old Montreal area. We popped in and I opted for a cappuccino. Because one must always be fueled by caffeine and carbs, we also got a savory and sweet treat to share. I ordered a cornetti - I had never tried this before, but it looked like a croissant so I of course was intrigued. Before writing this review I found out that a cornetti is the italian version of a croissant, and differs from it's french counterpart because it is sweeter and the dough is a bit different. I love French Croissants, and I now love Italian ones too - it was great. The one we got was stuffed with Nutella, so a perfect sweet bite to go with the coffee. We also ordered a mortadella sandwich. This was served on focaccia with ricotta, a pistachio cream, a it of honey and ricotta. Wow. Every time I eat mortadella I think to myself, I should eat more mortadella, and this time was no different. You can see why Cafe Olimpico is a popular cafe, the coffee is good and the treats are delightful. Short line, single person staffing shop, but he was on it. Clearly this was a place where locals come as he had orders being made as he saw people coming up and was talking to a few of them. When I first walked in there was a line to order but it moved very fast. At coffee shops I usually get a vanilla latte with almond milk, so when the worker informed me that they only carry regular milk and oat milk, no flavors, and no syrups, I wasn't quite sure what to order. The only option left (per my preferences) was an oat milk latte so that's what I ordered. However, I'm SO glad that I was basically forced to choose this, because I think it was the best latte I've ever had in my life. I was so tempted to go back for a second cup and looking back now, I wish I had!! The BEST place to get coffee in Montreal!! We stumbled across this place on our last day here and I wish I had discovered it earlier to go more often! Don't be intimated by the line. It moves quickly. When I got in line, it was backed up into the clothing store and I waited about 10 minutes. We got the cortado, cafe latte, the cafe crema, and 2 tiramisus to go. Seated in the oldest part of Montreal, this building carry so much history. It's absolutely charming! What makes it even better is the absolutely positively hands-down best coffee! Next to the Hotel William Gray -you can find this very small Italian coffee shop with extremely nice barista and workers. The cafe drinks are made fresh to order and can be highly customized. The pastries were well presented -we got the lemon loaf and Bomboloni and then a ham sandwich. The lemon loaf was okay and comparable to Starbucks lemon loaf. The Bomboloni was filled with pistachio and was tasty. The ham sandwich was on a light crusty focaccia brew with a mustard pistachio spread --delicious. We would have given it 5 stars except that the lines are so long --like really long -that's you can't really sit in the cafe and enjoy the wonderful food experience. This location is in Old Montreal, and I love how they have long opening hours (6 am to midnight). The cafe gets a lot of tourists, so English is pretty common when ordering. It's a small place with limited seating, so most orders are to go. The cappuccino was one of the best I ever had and highly recommend their baked pastries as well! The Nutella cannoli is so fresh.
