In most facilities, this is easily tracked on a whiteboard or in a user-friendly app (Brightwheel) so this is below the norm. Our baby literally stopped sleeping through the night on days that he would attend this daycare. He came home ravenous and needed meal supplementation in the middle of the night. They tried to blame growth spurts but it went on for weeks and only happened on days he attended their daycare.... it has resolved in the week since we left this facility. You'll also never receive photos of your child during daycare. I really value this since preschool age kids often look at you with a blank stare if you ask them what they did during school that day. Again, most daycares use Brightwheel to send you photos of activities they are doing throughout the day. In my child's previous daycare he was sent home each week with their artwork/educational materials based on what they were learning. I received 3 pieces of paper the entire month there. I'm not convinced there's many creative activities going on and since there's VERY limited communication provided to parents I can only speak to what I see coming home. Masks are not worn and there are older kids coming from the large surrounding schools in the afternoon. Your kids deserve better than what the two women running this facility provide.

This is what blew my mind today; it was soooo amazing to see these little angels building castles and digging in the garden and squealing with delight when they find a worm, a spider's web, a dandelion; there are 3 (THREE!) 3' long slides and no less than 3 (THREE!) castles! Or boats! Or a ship!; whatever their little imaginations can think of! And of course many forms of kiddy transportation with 2 (or 3) wheels to drive around this fun, age-appropriate play area all firmly nestled in a sea of forgiving cedar chips!! Both inside and out are toys galore; it is a-dor-able to watch these children learn as they play; social interaction; sharing, helping, painting, reading, building on manners and respect for their playmates and teachers! Each child receives individual gentle care appropriate to her age and older kids have basic school work and of course EVERYONE does crafts!!! There will never be enough glitter!! This entire operation is passionately overseen by Miss Jennifer whose enthusiasm for early learning is as obvious and impressive as the more than 30 years she has dedicated to preparing your child for kindergarten. There were different reasons to close Rainbow School. We started prior to Covid19. The school closures would typically happened on a Friday or a Monday often leaving the school for a four-day weekend. The curriculum was so good we decided to stick it out. Often times during pick up My son would have paint that would not end up coming out. So ruined clothes also soaked shoes because I guess waterplay is a big thing. Oftentimes if I was the very last one to pick up my child because of my long work days I would kind of a funny vibe at the door because Miranda would often bring me my son outside without having me come in to check them out as if she is rushing him out to me. I just thought the times were 730am to 530pm. One time they even sent my son home with a poopy diaper and what I asked for and about that it's because supposedly my three-year-old insisted that Daddy change his diaper. In my experience you're supposed to make sure the kids is diaper is changed regardless what the child wants .My son plays really rough I mean he is three. He has came home a few times with marks and scratched but being aware that Kaden plays rough I would assume it's from playing rough. Long story short Miranda contacts me about a mark on my son's face that she supposedly noticed during snuggling time at lunch but then later on she tells me Kaden had mentioned something about it in front of another adult and she is a mandated reporter and have to report even though this is literally a scratch or a little tiny Mark below as I that he more than likely got at her daycare as she questioned whether or not he got it at the daycare or at home. Regardless I feel she went way too far I don't know why you would call CPS there's been many other times were if you had something similar due to roughhousing and you haven't gone behind my back and call them CPS I really don't understand I'm just glad I don't have to deal with the consistent closures of your day care anymore. New atmosphere, new daycare, new friends, new home...it was a lot. I had spent over a month trying to find childcare that was affordable and good care which was proving to be very difficult on this side of the mountains. I came across Altemese Academy of Angels and stopped in. It was nap time and they were playing soothing music for the children which was something my girls were used to. After talking with the owner and the manager I knew this was the place my children would be. They were so accommodating with mine and my husband's schedule and they were affordable. They treated my girls as if they were family and they were patient while the girls worked through their anxiety of the transition. They held them and even had some special anxiety reducing trinkets for them to hold when I would drop them off. This is a very special group of ladies. Wonderful childcare!

The supportive and friendly atmosphere among the parents and staff have made it a great place for us and our kids. Being a co-op school, parents are required to work in the classrooms and earn credits throughout the school year. This has never been a problem for us as there are many options available. My intent is transparency, especially for families who rely on childcare subsidies and may have limited options. My daughter attended this school briefly. During that time, we experienced ongoing issues with communication and transparency. The most concerning situation involved my daughter being injured on more than one occasion--twice by the same child within a matter of weeks. When I asked why my child was hurt more than once in such a short period of time, the Director became defensive rather than responsive. On both occasions, I was not notified immediately. After the first incident, a vague incident report was placed in my daughter's backpack for me to discover after arriving home. The report was written on Mt. Tahoma letterhead, which was confusing and concerning, as my child does not attend that school. During the second incident, I arrived for pickup while my daughter was still crying and visibly distressed after being struck on the side of the head by the same child. The teacher who brought her to the gate did not know what had happened, and the Director also appeared unaware. My daughter was initially handed to me as if nothing had occurred. Only after it became clear that I was upset and would not leave while my child was crying, red in the face, and hurt did a staff member offer an ice pack. When the Director arrived, she was unable to explain what had happened. When my daughter identified who hit her, the Director stated, "No, it wasn't him," without clarifying who was responsible. Although my daughter clearly stated she was hit, the school insisted she had been "pushed onto bark." Bark would not cause a bruise on her ear or the contusion later diagnosed by urgent care. The conversation with the Director and owner was brief and uninformative. Neither acknowledged who hurt my child or clearly explained what occurred. Instead, the incident was repeatedly described as "normal child behavior," and it was implied that my daughter's actions caused her injury. Some children at the school are as old as six; my daughter is only four. No apology was offered, and no prevention plan was discussed unless I specifically asked. An incident report was not offered. I requested one and was told it would be provided, but it never arrived. After following up, I eventually received a report that lacked key details, including staff names and a clear explanation of how the injury occurred. Most concerning, the report focused heavily on my daughter's behavior in a way that implied she was responsible for being hurt, while also stating that a teacher witnessed the incident and did not intervene to prevent injury. In a follow-up email--after I continued requesting a corrected incident report and additional details--the Director suggested that I consider withdrawing my daughter and placing her in a private in-home daycare, stating that my concerns reflected "very specific needs," rather than addressing how the school would ensure my child's safety. Beyond the physical injuries, my daughter showed signs of emotional distress while attending this program, including difficulty playing with peers and fear associated with school staff. Since leaving the school, these reactions have continued. I have not been able to return to work since November, as attempts to transition her into other childcare settings have been unsuccessful due to her extreme distress and refusal to enter facilities. The emotional impact on our family has been substantial. What troubled me most was not just the incidents themselves, but a pattern of delayed communication, limited transparency around supervision, and dismissal of legitimate safety concerns. I have since withdrawn my daughter and am sharing this to encourage other parents to ask detailed questions about supervision, injury reporting, communication practices, and how children are supported emotionally.
