If you value consistency, transparency, and…read moreintegrity when taking your vehicle in for repair (especially an older model Mercedes Benz) please read my experience with Debbie, Steve and Joe at Zimmerman's between 12/23/24 and 01/03/25 before you make the investment of time and/or money I would have preferred to totally bypass having to waste another minute of my time surrounding Zimmerman's Technical Services at 2256 Government Blvd. Mobile, Al, however, I would be remiss if I failed to give this review. If I can save at least one other potential customer from a similar experience it will be worth the additional investment of time. * My 2007 CLK 350 has seemingly overheated upon arrival to Mobile from Atlanta, Ga for the Christmas holiday. I was expecting to have Zimmerman's perform a schedule B Maintenance Service because they performed a schedule A during a previous visit to Mobile. * 12/23/24 Spoke to Debbie regarding scheduling. I was asked what 's the issue with the car. I explained that I initially wanted a Schedule B maintenance but now my car was not holding coolant. I told her I was constantly getting a reading to top-off the coolant, but I had just topped it off and it's still indicating top off coolant and steaming. She asked if the car overheated or if I saw any fluid leaking. I said I couldn't see a leak, but the car had steam coming from the engine. She recommended I have the car towed to the shop b/c I could potentially do more damage if I drive it in. I scheduled a tow with AAA. I later had to cancel and reschedule. * Fast forwarded to Tuesday 12/31/24 when I scheduled another tow with AAA. The driver Madison from AAA delivered the car to the shop. I was told that it would likely be Thursday or Friday before they could do anything. Thursday,01/02/25 I called for an update and spoke to Joe who said an engine replacement was the best option. He said he found an engine with 79k miles, and it will take a week to ship. The cost to replace the motor for that 2007 CLK would be between $5,500 and $5,800 (odd that he looked for an engine without anyone from Zimmerman's updating me on needing an engine and the cost). I said, I can buy another car for that price. He said that would include changing heads and radiator. I told him I wanted to check around and get back to him. I asked him when I needed to let him know which direction I wanted to move, and he said by Monday or Tuesday. He gave me their business hours 9-5 Mon-Fri, No weekends and said they leave for lunch around 11:30 - 1pm, which I had heard from Debbie too. * I immediately reached out to a male friend who has repaired and owned a few Mercedes. He and I conferenced called back to ask if they would allow me to have an engine, we found delivered to them. (I didn't tell them that I found an engine for 1,563.31) to them and ask about their labor rate. We spoke to a man who identified himself as Steve. I have a habit of always asking who I am speaking to. Previously when I had the scheduled A maintenance there, Steve, the owner, is who I interacted with via phone and f2f. I told him I had spoken to Joe earlier who quoted me 5,500.00 -5,800.00 for engine replacement and Steve said yeah, that includes changing out the seals and some other stuff. He said we should call back tomorrow, Friday, 1/3 between 10-11 am to ask Debbie if they could do that. That seemed odd to me too. He rushed me to get off the phone saying he was very busy. I politely reminded him that while I understood he was busy he had my car on his lot so I would need him to give me the courtesy of a conversation. * Fast forwarded to Friday when I get a call from Debbie who says they don't do engine repair and ask me if I could arrange to come get the car today. I am not interested in begging anyone to take my money. I did find it suspect that no one mentioned that they don't do engine repair until Friday Jan 1. Our interaction began December 23 with me being told to tow the car instead of driving to prevent any further potential damage and no mention of them not doing engine repair. I have recently started a small business. I understand the liability issues. I don't understand a lack of transparency and inconsistencies. * When I get to the shop on Friday a, seemingly frail, pale elderly woman identified later as Debbie comes out. When I asked her what happened and why Joe who quoted me a price on a replacement motor didn't tell me they don't engine repair her response was one reserved for the mentally ill, drunk, high or slow. She had the audacity to say, Joe didn't know that they don't do engine replacement. She said my husband is the boss and he says we don't do engine repair. I told her that I spoke to Steve, her husband yesterday, and he said I needed to call back and ask her. Now she double-downs on her deception and says you talked to Joe. I corrected her saying I talked to Joe and Steve yesterday. A complete waste of time!
