We stayed at L'Appartment Hotel when we visited Montreal. I thought the location was OK. I now know a little more about the area to know where I want to stay next time. The place isn't top notch, but it is clean. The room was huge, and it had a separate full kitchen to cook your meals, we didn't of course, so it wasn't needed. They serve continental breakfast, which is one of the reasons I picked it. I like to be able to eat at the hotel, so I don't lose the whole morning looking for a place to have breakfast, I just want to go, go, go!! Although OK, I wish they had at least one hot item, like eggs, or waffles maybe. Everything is cold, unless you count toast. My biggest problem, and this was big one, was the bed. IT WAS HARD!!!! OMG, I didn't have one decent night's sleep. I woke up less rested than when I went to bed. Even the hubby mentioned something about it. And he can sleep on concrete. I still gave it three starts, because these are personal preferences. They hotel is OK. I would try elsewhere, a little closet to downtown, but I would stay here again if needed. Nice place that rents to visitors and is rented for long term visits too. We have a little one bedroom apartment with a separate bedroom, sitting/TV room, dining room and small kitchen complete with refrigerator, stove and micro and all dishes/ silverware! Centrally located so with some walking you can get anywhere or to bus or subway! We are downtown where the McGill University is so there are lots of activities going on...fun, fun! We came to Montreal for the Aura laser/light show at the Basilica Notre-Dame of Montreal! And to check out the city! read more

After staying at hotels with full kitchens, I was hooked. L'Appartement Hotel certainly matches the criteria. It's pretty much a small apartment. The hotel is centrally located, close to McGill, Mount Royal, and the subway, which will take you wherever you want to be. When we arrived in the evening, we parked in the back while we checked in. The hotel asked us to park across the street at the Evo hotel. Parking is not included in the hotel room price. Hotel stay includes breakfast in the morning. Breakfast includes fruits, cereal, waffles, bread / bagels, juice, and coffee. It's essentially anything you'd ever want. We were quite satisfied with breakfast. The rooms were nice and cozy. I didn't have any problems falling asleep. Free wireless internet access is available. read more

We chose this hotel based on the Yelp reviews. What we liked: -The room is big. It's like a studio apartment all right -Free breakfast -Staff is nice. They also respond quickly to your needs. Our toilet was leaking water and the engineer showed up 2 minutes after we contacted the front desk. -Free safe deposit box! No need to worry about people going in and stealing your passport while you are away. Their boxes work just like the bank's. They have a master key and they give you a separate key for you to keep. -They let you borrow umbrellas when it rains. -Place is overall clean. -Kitchen with stove, microwave, fridge, cutlery and dinnerware. Things that made us go hmm :( -Elevators are small! I think you can fit 7 people max without luggage. Less if someone is hauling big ass luggage! There's also only 2 elevators so there's a bit of a wait. -Bathrooms are small. I mean only one person can be in there at a time. -No variety in the free breakfast. Yes I know it's free but you can only eat so many bagels and eggos every day! They only serve continental breakfast. -No basic cable channels that include English show. We enjoyed our stay--I would stay here again if in the area. The building seemed a bit older and the layout is peculiar (particularly the staircases), but we liked the amenities in our room and hotel. The pool was clean, the laundry room was adequate but one of the washing machines was out of order. We liked that we were able to prepare our own meals in our room. Very friendly and helpful service at the front desk. Safety deposit boxes are available to use for free down at reception (no in-room safe). They are like ones at banks - long with plenty of space, but narrow. Great for small valuables and passports, but not wide enough for a portfolio or laptop. I would advise anyone to take advantage of the safety deposit boxes. Room service left our room open one time and we returned to an open door but no one inside or around. Anyone could have walked into our room! Not great. The rooms were clean enough, almost everything we could have wanted was provided. Except oven mitts, strangely. The colander provided seemed a bit...dingy. So we didn't use it, but otherwise the dishes, kitchen, bed, bathroom, and room in general seemed clean. We had a balcony on our room, and there is a large patio balcony on the top floor from the pool room. Steps outside were well maintained during the winter weather. Free continental breakfast was okay, nothing too exciting. The usual foods such as cereals, breads, bagels, some fruit, juices, coffee, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, etc. Affordable hotel right where we needed to be. read more

Stay someplace else!! We had booked our stay at this hotel based on the location and the reviews which unfortunately turned out to be the low point of our trip. While they might show having on-site parking, what they don't tell you is that it's only for smaller cars. Unfortunately, we had a larger SUV which required us to drive across the road, and down the block to a different hotel in order to park, and then navigate through the hotel, past the homeless people on the street, and across the street back to this hotel. This is the last thing you want to do after driving all day. When we got to the room the accommodations were very old. Smaller rooms, old toilet and other furnishings, nothing was updated. While it appeared clean, it was not at all what I would expect based on the price we were paying. We stay in hotels frequently, typically Hilton properties, and this was well below even an older Hampton Inn property. With it being around 9pm at this point we were planning on staying there and finding something else for the rest of the week, however as we settled in we realized there was NO A/C in the bedroom. There was in the living room where my daughter was staying on the pull out couch, but being in the middle of summer it was way too hot and uncomfortable to not have A/C in the bedroom. When I called to discuss it with the manager I was told that all of the rooms were the same and we could turn the A/C up in the living room and leave our door open so we could get some air in our room. I explained to him that this would essentially freeze my little girl while she was sleeping and told him I wanted to leave and get a refund. Even though the hotel wasn't booked to capacity he said that they wouldn't provide a refund. We ended up leaving and staying at the Hilton Doubletree across the street for a similar price which was significantly nicer. Bad parking, old rooms, no A/C, poor customer service, I would strongly suggest NOT STAYING HERE!! read more

At L'appartement, you're basically paying for the location, not the comfort. It's in a great spot. Easy to walk to the St Catherine with shopping, Place de Arts for culture, and St. Denis for nightlife. We found Montreal to be extremely walkable and the metro up to the Botanic Gardens was very easy to navigate, even without speaking French. If you're comfortable walking and using public transportation, better to spend your money on a hotel in a cheaper area and get more comfort. Our room was fine sized, but they put us on the second floor, and our balcony faced an alleyway with Mont Royal in the background. The bed was really firm (I like a softer mattress) and not very comfortable. The parking in the basement was really tight and hard to fit even my tiny honda civic into the space! Some good things: The rooftop indoor pool, gym, and outdoor patio are really nice. We spent most of our time out and about, but going up to the roof for some pics on our last morning was great. Also, there's free wifi, and you get a mini-kitchen with stove, fridge, toaster, coffee pot, and china. So if you're planning an extended stay that would be nice. We were just here for two nights, and the only thing I made in the kitchen was coffee. All in all, if you're here for leisure travel or a weekend, I say better to look at hotels in the Quartier Latin. You'll be closer to the nightlife, and you'll be paying for comfort rather than a central downtown location and the in-room kitchen. read more

We came to the city from NYC for a short vacation and stayed for 3 nights. The hotel was fine for us, because it's located near the metro. When booking, i didn't do an exhaustive search, but it was the cheapest on the website i booked. Facilities: Hotel has a rooftop pool, gym and terrace that is quite nice. The continental breakfast is included, and is pretty good. The parking is across the street, and is not included ($20 a day). The place is also quite close to the McGill and Place Des-Arts metro stops. The only thing is that the elevators are kind of slow. Room: The rooms are nice. Full kitchen (microwave, fridge, stove, etc.). Our room has a balcony with a nice view of the area around. Water has good pressure as well. The TV has a lot of channels, and about half are in english. The housekeeping isn't very predictable. The first morning, they knocked on our door at 8:15 am and we told them to come back later. The next day, we came back at 3:30 and they were still working on the room. read more

Loved the location, which just couldn't have been better, the room was quite comfortable, there's a small kitchenette which would have been nice if I'd been staying more than one night. L'appartments The area around the hotel is on a busy section of the city that is in walking distance to several museums and shopping. We arrived on a Friday morning and were confronted with the difficulty of parking. There is paid public parking on the street and $20CA hotel parking in the back of the hotel. There are 4 outside spots and an underground parking with a height limit of 5 feet 5 inches which is much to small to fit a SUV or Minivan. They also have contracted with another hotel a block away. The check in was quick and the staff are bilingual. On the first floor next to reception is the dining room for breakfast. As well as the only ice machine and Gym are on the first floor. The Gym has a few pieces of equipment that will meet most needs. The included breakfast is a cold buffet of breads,muffins, and cereals. That runs from 6:30am to 9:30am. If you miss it there is a Starbucks two doors down from the hotel. The pool is on the top floor as well as the paid laundry . There is a great view of Mont-Royal from up here and I recommend checking out the sunset from here. My family and I stayed on the 11th floor which was a 2 bedroom apartment with a kitchen for $250 a night plus parking. The kitchen has pots and pans for cooking in the bottom of the stove. As well as dishes and flatware. If you plan on eating in there are two groceries stores on Av du Parc. Just be mindful that multiple vagrants hang out around the area begging for change. There are two Flatscreen TVs in the apartment that have HDMI ports accessible if you bring your streaming device. WIFI is complementary and has pretty good strength. The area behind the hotel is a little sketchy but I had no issues with my car being parked out back. The furniture is worn and dated so it could use a remodel. The beds are very hard. read more

A continental breakfast is included with a decent selection...a variety of toasts, waffles, bagels, cereals, yogurt, fruit & hard-boiled eggs (the only protein...)good coffee! We had a studio. Spacious sleeping area...small bathroom. A little dated. Small parking garage which is incredibly difficult to swipe your key card and get into as well as maneuver your way inside. It has two elevators too few, especially as the hotel was busy as a result of college students and their families during move-in time. Long waits for the elevator were exasperating. The best thing about it is location & price. If you are looking for comfort, ambience and a lobby to sit in...look elsewhere. There is no food service/bar/lounge other than breakfast. read more

Whenever I am in Montreal I stay at this hotel! You cannot beat the location for seeing the sites in Montreal. The hotel provides indoor parking across the street, and the rooms are fantastic. Well attended kitchens, dining area, living room, and bedroom(s) all provided at a very reasonable price. The hotel has a nice rooftop pool, laundry facilities, a business center, nice exercise room with a view right on to Rue Sherbrooke. Breakfast is provided in a breakfast room right off the lobby and all the staff I encountered were friendly and helpful. The only reason I came to this hotel was because the one we used year after year directly across the street had closed down. I am kicking myself for all those years of not staying here! You get an apartment, not a hotel room. Its got a kitchen, two bedrooms with doors, living room, and every room has a balcony! The staff is friendly, and the free breakfast is very good (Montreal bagels. Yes!). We didnt have to buy breakfast ..or lunch most days for the entire time we stayed in Montreal. I sadly have to mark this hotel 3 stars, given that all the other times we've come here has been great, in exception to our most recent experience. My friends and I were excited to have a suite here- we had plans to make breakfast together and get ready for our upcoming race together. When we arrived we were told that they gave away our suite and could only give us studio hotel rooms on separate floors. With much discussion with the manager, he was able to get us studio hotel rooms next to each other, a day after we've settled in. They only comped us for parking and $45 total. We booked this 2.5 months before, this should have never happened or we should have gotten more compensation for the inconvenience. We won't be coming here again. read more

Just returned last night from 4 nights here. Although the furniture was a bit dated, it was not worn and in good working order. The bed was clean and comfortable. The pull-out couch was obviously newer, as the mattress was firm and not saggy. Everything was extremely clean and the sheets and towels were bright white. The staff were polite, courteous and helpful. The breakfast, while not fancy, was as advertised, a varied continental breakfast. With yogurt, fruit, hot and cold cereal and various bread products, there was more than enough selection. The location was great, within walking distance of museums and several subway and bus stops. The only serious complaint was there was no AC in the bedroom, only in the living room. There was a ceiling fan, however it appeared to only work when the light was on. Overall, this was a great hotel and would definitely stay here again. read more

A very nice hotel for a very reasonable price. We stayed in a quiet room on the back side of the hotel. The room (and the hotel in general) was in very good condition and was very clean. There was plenty of hot water and the A/C worked fine. The room that we stayed in had a complete kitchen (fridge, stove, pots pans, cutlery, plates, etc.) -- which is great if you don't want to eat out all the time. The free breakfast was great except that it was exactly the same menu of items every single day (not nice if you're staying for a few days.) The hidden gem of this hotel is the rather large swimming pool AND outside deck on the top floor of the hotel. Note that there are only two elevators in this 16 story building so at times you may need to wait a bit for the elevator. (we waited one morning for about 8 minutes). Bottom Line - Would we stay here again. Yes we would, and yes we will. read more

Immediately fell in love with this place. The location is perfect! Upon check in I was warmly greeted and given the option of which floor I'd like my room on. I chose a higher level. The front desk staff were very friendly and courteous. Best check in experience I've had a hotel. The on site, secure parking is plus with elevator access directly to your floor. The rooms are more like apartments. It felt like home instead of a hotel. They come with a kitchenette, dining area, living room with tv and sofa bed, balcony, bedroom with comfy bed and tv, bathroom and plenty of closet space. The indoor pool is wonderful with great views of the city. The dry sauna was a great treat after a nice swim. It's just 2 blocks away from McGill and close access to several metro stops and bus stops. They allow pets free of charge so I was able to bring my doggies which made me and them very happy. It's really quiet. We didn't hear the other guests and the hotel was fully booked when we arrived. I loved this place so much that I booked my next visit in December within 10 minutes of getting to our room. I highly recommend it and look forward to returning! read more

we planned on going to montreal over memorial day weekend as our babymoon getaway. after researching on hotels.com, this was the most economical for us. the place was not hard to find and we wound up parking our car at the lot across the street. both parking garages were enclosed and somewhat secured. we really didn't need our car to get around due to the hotel's location. it's close to a few metro stops and pretty much right in the downtown area. the room was a decent size, including the fridge, stove, and sink. i was pleasantly surprised to see that! it was certainly helpful for heating up leftovers. the bathroom was a bit small as the door barely grazed the sink when you open and close it. nevertheless, it wasn't bad. our room was right in the front so we had a small balcony that looked out onto rue sherbrooke. the continental breakfast was good and food was always refilled. it got a bit crowded so we just wound up taking our food back to our room to eat. all in all, this was a great find for the price and location. the employees were very nice and helpful! read more

I am a frequent traveler, and never have I had such bad customer service in my life. The day before my reservation, I call the hotel to confirm, and the lady greets me by saying, "I was just about to call you. Do you really need all of these suites?" Then upon my arrival, the hotel had graffiti all over the side of the walls. I go inside to check in, and the same lady that I spoke to the day before was very rude and unpleasant. The very first thing I asked her was if payment for the rooms were due at check in or at check out. She proceeded to tell me that all payment would be due at check out. This was very important to me since I had three separate parties paying three separate ways. She asked me for my card for incidentals, and as soon as I noticed, she charged me for two out of the three rooms and placed a $300 hold on the third room. When I asked her about the charges, she could not give me a coherent explanation, and began to raise her voice and be nasty in the middle of the lobby in front of all the guest waiting to be serviced. Then later on, when I went to the front desk to file a complaint, another staff member refused to let me speak to a manager and simply "yesed" me to death. When we got to the rooms, there were questionable hairs on the mattresses, broken door locks, and faulty wiring. One of the rooms kept short circuiting when you turned on the air conditioning causing all the power to go off and on. I would never stay at this hotel again!! read more
