I've kept it simple with a Sprite each visit, but it's a nice touch that makes the experience feel a little more elevated. Found this recommendation through Reddit because I was looking for a tech who could do a beautiful nail art. I was recommended Emily online, and so I called the salon and booked a same-day appointment! When I arrived, I checked into the salon and Emily was actually waiting there for me. I showed her what I wanted and we got to work. Emily was very fast and I don't think I've ever had my nails done that quickly. She took the design I went with, but put a little spin on it. I had wanted some thin lines on a few of my nails, but she told me that I should make them a bit thicker because chrome can chip easily if it's thin. I also got the cat eye polish as a base, which kind of gives it a rainbow effect, and I highly recommend it. The actual salon is beautiful and I feel like it's very clean. I liked it when I was there but by day 4 the polish was chipping! Really beautiful establishment. I got a shellac pedicure with Annie. The green tea scrub they use on your legs smells amazing and I left feeling very refreshed. Ok I have been wearing gel x nails since 2021, however, my previous nail tech is no longer doing nails due to health issues so I had to find a different nail salon. I have been going to this salon since March 2024 and I have had nothing but problems with the application of my gel x nails. Problems I never had with my previous nail tech. There is just not anyone at this salon experienced enough to do a great job on applying gel x nails and I have tried several different nail techs at this salon in hopes of finding one that would do a great job. Problems like nail tips put on crooked and then when I complain they tell me that my nail grows in that direction like I don't know that my nail does not grow crooked. Never had a crooked gel x nail tip with my previous nail tech so what does that tell you? Also problems with the gel adhesive caked up around my cuticles because they use too much of it to adhere the nail tip. Problems with them choosing the incorrect sized nail tip so while wearing the nail tips and as my nail grows out I can see my natural nail sticking out from underneath the nail tip on the sides. Problems with them adhering the nail tip to close to my cuticle or on top of my cuticle so when my nail grows out the gel x nail tip has a gap underneath it and it snags my hair and food particles and other stuff gets stuck underneath the nail tip right at my cuticle. In addition, as my nails grow out there is a sharp cutting edge when the gel x tip is incorrectly applied like this. Problems with them not waiting for the acetone to properly soak off the nail tip so then they use the drill bit to remove most of the nail tip which also removes a lot of my natural nail bed. My nails have thinned out tremendously and sometimes it hurts because the drill bit feels hot on my nail bed. When I complain they do not seem to care. Again, I never had this problem with my previous gel-x nail tech. Recently I went in for a gel x full set, by the way, I have to get a full set every time instead of a gel x fill because of the terrible job they do in applying the nail tips. The nail tech did not tell me they were out of stock of the shape I prefer which is almond. I will do stiletto as a back up shape but he said they were out of stock of both almond shape and stiletto shape. He waited to tell me this after he had already removed my previous gel x set. Him informing me of this after the fact was very deceitful and I believe it was in an effort to keep me from getting up and leaving the salon. The only shape they had in stock was square and when I asked if he would shape them into my preferred shape of almond, he then informed that yes but it would be at an extra cost. WTH! Why?! It is not my fault that they were out of stock and did not inform me of this until after he removed my previous set of gel x nails. In conclusion, this was the last straw, I will never go back to this salon. I am done doing business with them and I will not recommend them to anyone for gel x nails unless you are ok with subpar workmanship. read more
