I've traveled the world over and have met many a barkeep. This refined gentleman makes the trip worthwhile as he oversees the bar area and pours a delicious drink- all the while making interesting and polite conversation with old world elegance. If you are looking for the slick modernism of a Four Seasons or a Mandarin Oriental, La Voile D'Or is not for you. But our older and charming room with views off the sea were just what made us very sorry to leave. Each day my wife and I tumbled out of bed and down to the stunning pool area where we were greeted by Muriel, Catharine and Isabel who reserved the best chaise lounges for us to gaze at the ocean, enjoy an impeccable lunch, and slip into the sea while ordering off of the refreshing cocktail menu. Such hospitality and service is a hallmark of this gorgeous jewel on the ocean and I hope I return at every opportunity. What a treat! Thank you to the gracious staff that made our trip so memorable each day. Absolutely the best!

First off, let me say: I'm an Idiot for going in there in the first place... run down, waiters in dirty t-shirts, shabby interior... Literally every other Restaurant has nice looking staff, white tablecloths etc... When I needed a few more seconds to decide on what would be the least of the evils on the menu, the waiter actually said 'ok, I'll come back next week'. Aaaalright. Then there was an amuse-bouche... onion pizza, which wouldn't have looked very appetizing WITHOUT the Bitemarks(photo) - serving as a stern reminder that we shouldn't throw something out just because the last guest/waiter had a little nibble... Yeah, at that point it was damage control, don't get sick... Of course the changed side didn't arrive with the main course of grilled-to-death freeze-dried fish and the Scallops on the Nuked Risotto(ish Substance) were raw and therefore, at least at this fine establishment, less than trustworthy. When I asked for the side he yelled 'you still want that?!' and sure as S+@#! it popped up on our Check at the end... the guy was obviously very used to not giving a shit after people didn't like the food, so I didn't go down that particular road. I couldn't help but admire the sheer joy the staff seemed to feel punking the guests. Try to Avoid being on the receiving end, though. My Tip: Pick one of the places on either side. You'll pay more, but that buys you the entertainment of watching the poor guys suffer on the other side.

You also need a reservation here so make sure you do that well in advance especially for golden hour/sunset times since that's when they're the busiest. We started with a couple cocktails which were both good. The One aka their signature cocktail was more light, clean, and refreshing while Le French Cocktail was more sweet, fruity, and bright. The Zucchini Flower Fritters were crispy, airy, and went so well with the crushed tomatoes. The Tuna Tartare is a huge skip for me. Although it was recommended by our waiter, the tuna didn't look fresh and I think the green apple & kumquat overpowered and clashed in flavor. The Rigatoni with Seasonal Truffles was incredible!! Such a perfectly made pasta, they don't skimp out on the truffle and truffle cream, and every bite was more satisfying from the last. On the other hand, the Oven-Baked Sea Bream Fillet was just okay. For that price point, I expected it to taste better and be better plated. I also didn't really understand the grapes here which seemed to clash with the sea bream. All in all, the vibe and ambiance is unmatched, service was great, and we had an enjoyable meal. I would absolutely go back!

If I do return, I would try to experience the bar underneath rather than dining in the restaurant. Staff were friendly, service was decent but what made it all was the view and ambience!
