From the moment the reservation was scheduled with Honey Ridge Stables staff has been great. They communicate via text messages regarding running behind due to rain. The location isn't fancy such a beautiful farm. However, it's worth the visit because the riding trails are great, covers different terrains which was a challenge (I was nervous) for me because I have never rode a horse. It was a great experience. The staff of three was friendly, professional and helpful. Only reason I didn't give five stars is because there is no restrooms or place to wash hands after ride.

My wrangler Grace was very personable and knowledgeable. We had a very nice walk around the beautiful property as I learned about the history of the farm and shared riding experiences with Grace. I really enjoyed my time with her and when the ride was over she allowed me some time to visit with the other horses and answered any questions I had about the Equestrian program at the farm. My family never had enough money or time to put toward lessons. Now that I'm older, I'm able to fulfill a few of my own childhood dreams: learning to surf, writing a novel (still at the brainstorming stage), and learning to ride! Maria is a wonderful teacher--she knows when to push you and when to let you get comfortable. She loves animals more than I do (which is a lot!) and I've learned so much from her in just a few short months. She's been patient with me too--I've gotten injured (not from riding, from walking my dog!)--and she's been very understanding. She really cares if you become a competent rider and she ends every lesson with a hug and a compliment, even if I feel like I didn't accomplish much that day. Her rates are incredibly fair as well--I still can't technically afford riding lessons (if I listen to Suze Orman), but the rates of the lessons make it so that I can keep coming back to learn more. If you want to learn about riding, support a local businesswoman, and gain incredible skills and memories, M & R Ranch is the place to go! It's a smooth and pretty 25 minute drive from Savannah and totally worth it!

She got one leg up on the saddle but then couldn't bring herself to get in, after repeated attempts. Initially the staff were very patient but then stated repeating again and again that she either needed to get on now or stay behind because they were running late. With that much pressure I decided to stay back with her as I wasn't going to let a young girl hang out in an unknown place with one unknown male staff in attendance as they were suggesting. When I asked for a refund I was refused as we did not provide 48 hour notice. Reading the cancellation policy "In order to receive a full refund, rides must be cancelled no later than 48 hours prior to your scheduled ride time. We are unable to provide refunds for rides cancelled the day of or to guests who fail to show up for their ride." Just to be clear, we did not cancel. We were told get on the horse or we have to leave without you. That is the staff canceling, not me. At no time during this ordeal were we told that we would not get a refund because the staff thought we were taking too long. When I had called for the booking I had specifically said that I had two first time riders that were very nervous and was told that it wasn't a problem. I just got off the phone with the manager Claire who said that "it looks bad" if they delay the ride. If I was a no show or canceled last minute I would totally understand the no refund. What is completely unfair and unprofessional is being told we have to leave without you but not give your money back.
