My husband and I drove almost 30 miles one way for our 3 part birthing class with Madalyn & we're so happy we took it! You can tell she absolutely loves what she does and is so passionate about our well being & our future babies! Just recently finished our online birthing class series and had an amazing experience. Obviously with the pandemic things are a bit unusual and we've been very concerned about having our first little one during these times as there is less support services available compared to pre COVID-19. This series alleviated our fears and apprehensions both about the birthing experience overall in addition to current practices and limitations surrounding COVID-19. This is a long ass review but it's important that you know how awesome Madalyn is! Don't have time to read it all? Read this: HIRE HER!! Madalyn was such an asset and fine contributor to our birth story. After some research and interviewing other doulas, no one could match Madalyn's experience and personality. She stood out and my wife Dana and I were committed. Her approach was exactly what we were looking for, a perfect balance between crunchy and evidence based. After hiring her we learned that she also taught birth classes. We took both her spinning babies and birthing classes. These were so informative and hands on. She made it very engaging, fun, and taught me so much about my role in the process and prepared me for what Dana was about to experience. With this knowledge and exposure I was well prepared and confident. She informed us about our legal rights and options for different scenarios at the hospital.(too many horror stories) Dana wanted to try for an unmedicated birth with the least amount of medical intervention. Madalyn and her classes prepared us mentally for the perfect labor we experienced. I'm not saying she guarantees a perfect birth story but she was crucial in Dana's mental and physical surrender in the birth of our daughter. We labored for 14hrs before our daughter was born. Dana and I labored alone at home for 10.5 hrs. Madalyn met us at our place and helped me and Dana get through the tougher contractions. Never did I feel excluded from the process. Madalyn was great support and allowed for me to prep our hospital bag, grab a bite and rest. When it was time to head to the hospital, Madalyn rode in the car with Dana and I talking her through the tighter hardest contractions. When we landed at the hospital Madalyn took charge and brought all the staff up to speed. She rolled in there like the pro she is. Firing off info at the nurses, ghb negative, contractions are 2 mins apart, can we check what stage baby is in, Dana would like to try to push in this position etc. I was able to stay present with Dana in the best experience of my life. 25mins after we arrived at the hospital our Beautiful Daughter was born. Madalyn is a bad ass. She is very fit and knows female anatomy so well. She is very knowledgeable of different positions to open up the pelvis and help progress labor along. I suggest taking her classes as those positions are practiced and encouraged as homework in the later part of pregnancy. Madalyn has that tough straight to the point NY attitude that we liked. After the birth she came over for our post pardon visit and made herself available for any questions weeks after our Daughters birth. My point in this book length review is Madalyn is the best and you should hire her if she is available. I'm so happy she was a part of our daughters birth story. read more

If you are reading this and are on the fence about taking a birthing class or a spinning babies class, this here is to tell you that Madalyn's class is gold! I had the pleasure of attending the Spinning Babies class, and it was perfect. The setting is intimate as there's a maximum of 5 couples per class, and it's just what you need for a hands on class showcasing all the movements, positions, excercises etc. I had personally purchased the spinning babies parent class online, and that was very informative, but nothing compared to being able to experience the class in person, being able to get feedback on what you're doing and how you're doing it. Madalyn's enthusiasm and passion for her work is contagious, and you leave her feeling empowered, energized and confident. If we ever have the opportunity, i would love to have her as part of our team welcoming baby earthside. read more

I had such an amazing experience having Madalyn as my doula. My labor was 28 hrs long but I feel I had the best labor and birth experience possible. This being my first child, I could not haved asked for more. Yes it was hard and painful but with the right support, I was able to do it. I did my research for doulas one day and happened to find Madalyn. She was so helpful during my prenatal stage. She gave me a lot of info and useful exercises. I even took some prenatal yoga classes which she recommended. I learned a lot of useful stretches that helped me once I was in labor. During my labor, I sometimes would forget to keep myself moving during the contractions just because it was painful, but she would remind me to keep myself moving. I also wanted to be at home for as long as possible to avoid getting an epidural. With Madalyn's help and her tens unit, I was able to succeed in my birth plan goals which was to go without an epidural. I was kept well hydrated and feed enough snacks to keep up my energy. She stayed until about an hour after I gave birth. Later on the week, we scheduled a post partum visit. If you're looking for a doula for your labor, then look no further. I highly recommend Madalyn for such an occasion. read more

Madalyn was our doula for our first child. She was super professional, knowledgeable, and best of all, she didn't take so many clients that we'd be on backup number three during the birth. She prepared us really well, both in terms of knowledge and supplies. When my wife finally went into labor, she was prompt and helped her delay at home for a long time. At the hospital, she was super on top of things, helping my wife with positions and breathing and letting me catch a breather fairly regularly. Thanks to her, my wife managed to achieve all of the goals in her birth plan, something I'm almost sure we wouldn't have accomplished without Madalyn. I cannot recommend her more highly. This review is for Virtual Doula Support Review (Virtual Consultant) TL;DR - 10/10 Madalyn was everything you could want in a doula and more! She advocates for you and makes sure your birth experience is something that you can look back upon with pride and joy. Without writing 50,000 words it will be impossible to convey how much she helped both me and my husband but here it goes: I am a first time mom that had my baby during COVID. Because of the pandemic I was only allowed one support person in the hospital during labor which was my husband so the doula support needed to be virtual. Although Madalyn was not able to be with us in the hospital her support was invaluable! To have someone we trusted we could call any time before, during, and after the birth was such a huge relief. You can tell she really cares about her clients and makes every effort to make your birth experience one you can look back on with joy. Pre-birth support: During your pre-labor meetings Madalyn has her own scheduled for what she talks about at each appointment but is happy to discuss any concerns we had about anything. What was very helpful to us was Madalyn's experience with creating a birth plan. My husband and I did a ton of research and created a birth plan but when Madalyn looked over it with us she found a couple things that were missing. Sure enough, those specific items came up at the hospital and thankfully we had discussed how we would proceed beforehand. Without Madalyn's input we would have been Googling and trying to make a rushed informed decision. Birthing classes are nice but to have the one-on-one experience with Madalyn was so much more helpful and gave me the confidence I needed getting ready for the big day. Virtual labor support: When unforeseen circumstances came up (I was scheduled for an induction because of high blood pressure) I realized my original birth plan was out the window. Madalyn helped me stay calm and in the moment. You have a plan going into the hospital but it's impossible to plan for everything and to have Madalyn there via Zoom (video chat), text, and phone was a game changer and really helped us. From when we arrived at the hospital to when our daughter was born it took 48 hours and 4 minutes. Madalyn was on standby and available to us the entire time, texting with my husband who was giving her updates as things progress. Several times when a doctor or nurse came in and were asking us to make decisions on how to move forward. We were able to bring Madalyn into the conversation so we felt confident we were making the right choice. Madalyn won't make medical decisions for you (because she shouldn't) but she will talk through anything with you to make sure it's what YOU want. Some nurses and doctors will try to manipulate you into doing something not because it is medically necessary but because it is more convenient for them. Madalyn is there to make sure YOU are the PRIORITY. Towards the end when labor was really starting to progress and we were nearing the pushing stage I had Madalyn on Zoom next to me the entire time. She helped advocate for me to push in a position that I was comfortable pushing in (on my side instead of on my back like both the doctor and nurse were pushing for out of convenience for themselves). Madalyn even directed the nurse on how to set up the bed properly and pull out specially foot holds from the side of the bed the nurse didn't even know were there (seriously!? Madalyn's amazing). Once the baby came and she was placed on my chest Madalyn was there until she had the chance to congratulate us. Then, she signed off Zoom and let me enjoy the first hours of my new family. Post-labor support: Once we were moved into postpartum at the hospital and got settled we Zoomed with Madalyn again kept her updated with how recovery was going. Again, it was easy to tell how much Madalyn really cares about her clients. She just spent over 48 hours on stand by during labor and she was still following up, making sure I was okay! Just over a week after we left the hospital we had our final meeting with Madalyn. She was able to give me advice on nursing and made sure my recovery was going smooth. Out of all the choices and decisions I've made the past 10 months preparing for labor and life as a mother I'm confident the best was hiring Madalyn as my doula. Although she wasn't able to be in the hospital room with me the virtual support she was able to provide was amazing and now that it's over I wouldn't want to change a single thing about my birth experience.
