La belle et la boeuf is a place that has evolved over time, and its a good thing. It used to serve greasy buns burger that were not that tasty. I gave this place many chances and over the time, they moved from 1 to 5 stars. I've tried I think 5 location and they are all the same. The theming is the same, the food is the same, the ambiance is the same. Some might have outdoor terrace like this one, other might not. But you'll taste the same food anywhere. We took jalapeno poppers and fried pickle as a starter. I'm not a fan of fried pickle but my friends loved them. I did like the jalapeno poppers although I preferred the dip that came with the pickle. My friend took the colossus poutine. It's a poutine with pulled pork in it. It was a good portion and was good. My other friend took fried chicken tacos and she really liked it. I took the ms Pac man burger which is a cheeseburger with a beef patty and a fried Mac N cheese patty, topped with melted cheese. I've always been curious about this place. Something about the name, which translates to "Beauty and the Beef" caught my eye every time I would pass a billboard. With a name like that, it had to be worth a stop. Then one day, I got a message from a fellow comedian with a YouTube channel who wanted to film a food challenge. He described it as a massive, 5-pound burger with a poutine inside it, and if you don't finish it they spank you! I knew I had to go. And yes, that burger was massive. But it was also delicious, as was everything else my party ordered. The staff was very accommodating for our video, and the place had a great vibe. I first ate here a couple years ago on a very loud and crazy evening. I had the mac and cheese burger, where the buns are actually wonton wrappers filled with mac and cheese and then deep fried. It had a weird texture, was too dry, not quite the gooey oozing mess I was picturing. It left me disappointed. I found the overall atmosphere too crazy and the pricing on the high side. I ventured again recently and came during the week, took avantage of their $12.95 "Bento Box" lunch which is a burger of the day, served with coleslaw, a big kool aid pickle, fries and a little wrapped Joe Louis chocolate cake. This lunch combo is absolutely phenomenal in terms of value and options. The amount of food you get compared to the regular menu is impressive. This is unfortunately only available for lunch Monday to Friday. My burger of the day was the avocado one, it's a big juicy beef pattie served with lots of avocado and pico de gallo along with a special ranch sauce. One of the best burgers I've had in a while. The sides were good as well, but I personally am not a fan of the shoestring cut of fries. They are too skinny and "meatless", but if you turn this into a poutine, it's well worth it. I wouldn't recommend this place for supper but knowing you can get the same, or even more food for half the price on weekdays, if possible, definitely check it out. Be warned it can get very loud and cramped, and if you are not seated in a booth, much of the seating is uncomfortable, either wooden chairs or high bar stools. read more

I haven't had any issues with the service so I would say it's great. The only thing is the restaurant is not for everybody it's very loud but sometimes we just need that distraction. I've been to three of them. The one downtown, the one at the gals in Anjou and I've been to the one in Laval. The one downtown and at the gals is super loud, can't really hear the other person if you want to talk to them. Also the waiters and waitresses take super long to serve you... As for the one in Laval, really impressed great service the food was pretty good. I would recommend La Belle Et La Boeuf, but just choose wisely as to which one you wanna go to. read more

Had a terrible meal here Saturday night. I can't believe they up charged me $2.50 to change a beef burger to a veggie burger. That's never happened to me before and really ticks me off. On top of that the veggie burger was dry as a bone and so hard on the exterior. It was The worst veggie burger I've ever had. There was no sauce on this "El Camino" burger, my cousin ordered the beef burger version and it was just as dry as mine. I will never go back to this restaurant, if you're looking for a really good burger go to Mechant Boeuf in the Old Port. Now that's one of Montreal's best burger spots! read more

I keep hoping, I keep trying but I have yet to find a "gourmet" burger joint or upscale burger that I can even like much less love. My girlfriend and I ordered a small plate of chicken wings. Better cooked than this, impossible, they were perfect. The BBQ sauce... bring me more. And I don't know if its store bought or made on site, but that ranch sauce was insanely good. I figured, if the burger is half as good as this, we're in for some seriously good eats. We were wrong, we were sooooo wrong... La Belle et La Boeuf doesn't break this losing streak. Just another hipster pleasing joint with very sub-par food. On paper it looks like it's gonna blow you away right? Well that's where the ever important balance between form and function come into play. In this case it's all form and very little function. You can change your side of fries for a poutine, little did I know they would bring me a bucket of poutine. The poutine was cold. I don't know about you but poutine gravy should be volcanic and melt the fries (that wasn't a mistake, I meant fries). I asked to get a hot poutine and they simple nuked it and it was lukewarm at best. This on fries that were merely passable and not-melted cheese. But the gravy is the only thing that gave the fries a fighting chance. But the insult of it all was the burger... really, shame on whoever thinks these burgers are good. The bun was OK, the toppings were well, meh. OK I took "Le Cochon". That's a patty wrapped in bacon... Look I love bacon more than the next guy but there is such a thing as too much bacon. There is such a thing as proper portions. Topped with peanut butter (blech! but that's on me) and with Port jelly which I could never taste in the burger and Port jelly usually is pretty noticeable, it's got a strong kick to whatever you put it on. The meat was overcooked, dry... I mean really dry and 8oz might be overkill. I make way better burgers that this, I mean massively better and that's using regular store bought meats, cheap POM burger buns and regular yellow cheese. A complete disappointment. There was also a Kool-Aid marinated pickle which they claim is their idea - actually it's Joe's White Front Cafe in Rosedale, MS that gets those claims - La Belle et La Boeuf only watched Feasting on Asphalt on Food Network. Plus the coleslaw hash was OK. The decor is Hipster paraphernalia all over the place. But still a nice decor. The service is good, unfortunately the food blows chunks. Ive been to the one Downtown before and liked it much better. The one in the gals was extremely LOUD I had to shout to be heard. The waiters looked bothered by our presence. But the service was fast so I can't complain about that. I got the peanut butter burger. When the description says "Burger frit enrobé de bacon" I really expected my entire burger itself to be wrapped in bacon. Not just a small layer of bacon on top of my cold over cooked patty. Also the amount of peanut butter on this make it basically impossible to chew. I think this place is pretty over rated. And just for the level of noise I wouldn't go back to this location. A lovely burger/bar place that seems to be popular in the area. It was our 19 year-old's birthday and she went there a few times, but this is our first. They seated us at a table, below the speaker, but we needed to change places since I could not hear anyone due to my hearing problem. Maybe we should have stayed at this table. The good: Food is excellent. Burgers are juicy and not dry, and cooked through. You have a choice of fries and mashed potatoes with the burgers. Lots of choices. Lots of specials and events. Choices of non-meat burgers also. Decors are awesome (but makes me feel old as 80's stuff is vintage now). The bar looks great. The bad: Our original waiter was nice, but once we changed seats, we ended up with an AWFUL waiter and a TERRIBLE service. We had to repeat our orders a few times. There was 20 minutes between us finishing our meals and the cleaning of our table. We were interested in having desserts for all of us, and we told that to the waiter but he never took our dessert order. Instead he came with the birthday Bailey's shot to our daughter and the bill. The manager was talking roughly to our waiter at our table, about another table. One of the staff member, who might have been in his late 30's, or early 40's, kept hitting on my 19 year-old, even after we put the point across that we were her parents (it did not stop him), VERY disrespectful. The place has a lot of promise and the food is simply terrific. But the staff needs a serious cleaning up as the service was awful, and some bartenders are disrespectful towards young women. Definitely not the place to go without an appetite! The food is junk food at its finest served in big greasy portions...and it's pretty delicious. The entrees are pretty generous - we split the mini cheeseburgers (3) which weren't that mini and the pogos which I would definitely recommend. The burgers are huge with pretty creative fillings and a great option for when you can't decide what to order on their very full menu. I had the pulled pork grilled cheese this time which comes with a huge bowl of really good fries and wasn't disappointed. Drink menu is pretty extensive and complete with mason jar drinks - I'm a big fan of their different sangrias and have yet to try one that I didn't enjoy. Service was friendly and efficient... The food here is great. By far best burgers I have had in a long time. The wings are great to and everything was seasoned well. Bad part is that the music is not edited so towards the end of the dinner we just rushed the kids to the car because I got enough dicks and F--ks for one night. Have been on multiple occasions and enjoy myself regularly. Food is always good, ambiance is nice and it always makes for a good night. Only complaint I have is with the starter of Doritos Mac n Cheese balls (which I love), they need to add more Doritos crumbs to the dish. It feels like once you eat the 1 chip they give you, there are no other Doritos pieces to compliment the dish. This is one place you really get your money's worth! The portions match the prices almost perfectly (drinks a tad over priced for size). What's great about this place is that the breads (or lettuce wrap) and sides are to the customers choosing. So, if you want a side order of mashed potatoes (RECOMMENDED) instead of fries with your burger, you can have exactly that! This place was REALLY good when it first opened. However, I'm not sure if as the restaurant became more popular, the less the management were able to cope with the demands of the clientele. I went there last night with friends (we were a group of 7). First, despite having a reservation, our table was crammed in to the smallest possible spot, which made it very difficult to sit down, let alone for staff to actually reach our table. We ordered drinks, and then our waiter disappeared for quite some time. We were at the restaurant for nearly an hour before our waiter even came back to take our orders. When we got our food, we had been there for over an hour and a half. The food was lukewarm, leaving me to believe that the kitchen staff had prepared the food, but the waiter didn't serve it to us for some time after, possibly due to the difficulty he would have reaching our table. The music was also incredibly loud, and the volume was even pumped up even more. There was no way that our table of 7 could even converse, unless we all learned sign language. The waiter did come back to apologize for the problematic service, however, it was only as we were paying to leave that this occurred, and it was too little, too late. Either this place needs to hire more staff to accommodate its popularity, or it needs to reduce the number of tables that they have available. If the food is good, people will come back, but they will not come back if they can't even get up to go to the bathroom, or if their waiter can't even reach their table. read more
